Our mother was in the care of Middleton Park Lodge Home for approximately a year. Even though it took Mum some time to settle in, which was upsetting at times, the staff were very patient and understanding of her needs and how she felt. It was very obvious to myself and my siblings that eventually
she trusted the staff and had her particular favourites. Despite the staff being very busy at times with other residents, they still found the time to spend time with Mum when she was anxious. Often allowing her to spend time in the nurses' office to 'help' them. I'd go so far to say Mum was loved by many of the nurses/carers and that was shown in her final days where Mum was shown care and dignity until she left us. We were shown the same respect and kindness in the final hours of her life and nothing was too much to enable us to stay by her bedside 24/7.
Reply from Suzanne Mckie, Peripatetic Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your review of Middleton Park Lodge. It was an honour to provide the care and support your mum needed during her final year. We deeply appreciate your trust in our team and remain committed to supporting families with compassion and dignity.

The nursing and palliative care given to my mum in the last days of her life was absolutely astounding.
My wife worked on the MacMillan ward for 10 years and said the care and compassion given to my mum, myself and our family at the most difficult time of our lives by the staff at Castleford Lodge
was second to none.
No amount of words can express the gratitude and love we feel for the team. They work so hard and always provided a high level of care . We are forever indebted to you. Thank you .
Reply from Sarah Golden-Hill, Home Manager at Castleford Lodge Nursing HomeMark can i first take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time in this emotional time for you and your family to send a review with such kind and caring words.
The staff here at Castleford take pride in the care that they deliver to everyone in our care and the full team continue to deliver this care at all stages of life. It was really nice to hear that you and your family experienced the care and compassion as well as what was delivered to your mum.
your kind words will be passed to all the team here at Castleford.
Once again thank you for taking the time and please feel free to call in at the home whenever as you are all now part of our extended family

My mother has vascular dementia and I can honestly say I have not had any concerns with regard her care at Lofthouse Grange and Lodge. The carer staff are very attentive and seem to be aware of each of the residents failings. There are also two dedicated entertainment staff who keep the residents occupied
with various activities and they also seem to bring in outside entertainers and have singalongs with the residents who all enjoy this.
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind words about the care your mother receives at Lofthouse Grange and Lodge. We are delighted to hear that you have had no concerns and that our carer staff have been attentive and aware of each resident's individual needs.
We are also pleased that you value the work of our dedicated activities team. Providing meaningful engagement, entertainment, and opportunities for social interaction is an important part of supporting our residents' wellbeing, and it is wonderful to know that your mother enjoys the singalongs and visiting entertainers.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated by the whole team, and it reassures us that our efforts to provide compassionate, person-centred care are making a positive difference.

My wife was a resident at Lofthouse grange for some time before peacefully passing
During her stay she received an excellent standard of care
All of the staff from manager to carers and all of the support staff showed care and compassion at all times often under challenging conditions, and always
with a smile
I would, and have, recommend this facility to anyone who is considering a kind and respectful environment
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you for sharing such kind words with us at what we know is a very difficult time. We are deeply sorry for your loss, and it means a great deal to hear that your wife's time at Lofthouse Grange felt comfortable, respectful, and supported.
Your recognition of the care and compassion shown by our team - from managers and carers to support staff - is truly appreciated. They work tirelessly, often under challenging circumstances, and your feedback affirms the value of their dedication and the importance of the "smile" they bring to each day. We are honoured that you would recommend Lofthouse Grange to others, and we will continue to uphold the standards of kindness and respect that you have highlighted. Mum moved in 2022 & from the start with Chloe, Stacey, Jess, Sarah & the care assistants mums time living there has been comfortable, caring, safe & the communication I've received has been friendly & professional.I have noticed however over the last 12-18 months a couple of agency staff have been disinterested
in their shift & had to be asked more than twice to complete a task but the senior/ regular staff have remained patient. Some of the night staff could perhaps take a little more time with helping to dress mum, I visit on a weekly sometimes twice weekly basis & have noticed mum not wearing alot of her new tops I've found them on the floor of the wardrobe & because she is short has worn them without bottom halves, I understand she may not always be compliant but this can leave her prone to showing the tops of her thighs, I haven't yet mentioned this to any staff as hopefully they will supply a blanket when I'm not there & she's seated in a comfy chair.
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your thoughtful message and for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly grateful that your mum has been with us since 2022, and it's heartening to hear that her time at Lofthouse has felt comfortable, caring, and safe. Your kind words about Chloe, Stacey, Jess, Sarah, and our care assistants mean a great deal to the team - they work hard to build trust and connection, and your recognition is deeply appreciated.
We also want to thank you for raising your observations with such care and clarity. We take all feedback seriously, especially when it relates to dignity and consistency in care. Your comments regarding agency staff and night-time dressing routines have been noted, and we will follow up internally to ensure that expectations are reinforced and that your mum's preferences - including her clothing and comfort - are respected at all times.

My dad moved from a care home a year ago to reside at Castleford Lodge. It was very different, but the lovely staff made him welcome, and in very little time, he settled in well, which was very comforting. His health gradually deteriorated, and on our last usual visit, it was obvious he had little time
left. The nurses were amazing, explaining end of life care, and when the time came, I and my daughter were with him as he passed. They were so kind and respectful and made a huge difference to a daunting experience. I can't praise them enough.

My Mother is in this home & we have recently had to complain about the level of care she is receiving due to neglect. Mum is regularly found in the same nightwear that she has had on for over 48 hours & with food in her hair. She is very often found in a wet bed & also left in a wet pad for hours without
being changed or even staff visiting her room to check. Family have had to call this out many times & then we wait over an hour to get anything done. Mum is bed bound, so she cannot get up to get a drink & we regularly turn up to find her table quite a distance from her bed with no fluids. Family have had to do the carers jobs by feeding her, often bringing food from our home because the quality they give her is very poor. Due to this awful neglect, mum took very ill & it took the family to get her well again, because staff didn't seem to care. The Management are extremely poor & are not willing to listen, they regularly have to use agency staff who are not very caring to residents.

As a family we are grateful that nana got a placement as she was EOL and needed caring for, but there were issues that should not be overlooked. The night before nana passed she was in pain and discomfort. We asked for help from 3 staff members, and was given different information each time, after having
to chase for updates. Nobody seemed to know what to do. I was told false information, that nana would need a doctor to come out and this would be looked at the next day. I knew that an OOH nurse could be called and I had to do this myself as a senior staff member said they had tried 4 times and received no answer, which has never been the case when calling the OOH service. Staff appeared reluctant to make initial contact, and offered no reassurance, which is not fair for a lady in pain nearing the end of her life. Also when nana needed to use toilet facilities, a commode was wheeled in, which did not sit right with us, and regardless of cleaning does not appear hygienic or dignified.

My Step father was in this care home the staff were amazing . But sadly he passed away in March at the care home, and we had the funeral several weeks later in April, as a family we were completely devastated that not one person from the care home turned up at the service to pay their respects although
they had all been invited and had all the details.
He had been there over 12 months I did send an email to the Orchard head office but got no reply,
Very disappointing especially after the cost of care to our family
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you for your message, and for your kind words about the team who supported your stepfather during his time with us. We were truly sorry to hear of his passing, and we send our continued condolences to you and your family. Please accept our sincere apologies for the upset and disappointment caused by the absence of staff at his funeral service. We understand how important it is to feel that your loved one's care team acknowledges and honours their life, especially after over twelve months of support and connection.Your feedback has been shared with our team so we can reflect and improve how we handle similar situations in the future. I also want to apologise for the lack of response to the message you sent to our head office-that, too, must have been upsetting at an already difficult time.If you would like to speak further or share more about your stepfather's time with us, I would be very glad to listen.

From day 1 of my brother going into Paisley Lodge, everything felt right. My brother settled in it was never a problem to the staff. They always worked round him and his ever changing mood. Staff were very welcoming every time we visited. While my brother was on end of life care, I was allowed to stay
over in one of their rooms right up to the end. Meaning I got to spend quality time with him. I cannot commend Paisley time with him. I cannot commend Paisley Lodge enough plus the food is outstanding.
