My dad has been in Middleton Park Lodge for 9 weeks, the care has been overall good, staff are lovely, but could do with more of them. Dad complains he has to wait long periods for staff to come when he presses his alarm. I understand it's not one to one and have explained this to dad. The home is clean.
What I have witnessed myself so far has been good, keep up the hard work. The activities co ordinator Paula is a great asset to the home. We are welcomed every visit by staff.
Reply from The Manager, Middleton Park Lodge Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeThank you Michelle, we will continue to keep up the hard work!!

My mum, Mrs. Jean Kendell, has been at Middleton Park Lodge since November 2025. We have been delighted with the care she has received. The staff are very professional and extremely helpful and friendly. She has enjoyed great food and social engagement with events and outings. The new manager, Rosie
Martin, has already made a hugely positive impression. I am very pleased to see the home in such capable and professional hands.
Sincerely,
Karen

Castleford lodge staff are truly amazing , every person working there has a welcoming smile , and all residents are treated with the love and care they deserve, I have never had to visit a relative in a care home setting before , but I would recommend Castleford lodge without hesitation , I cannot fault
any aspect of the care home or the staff , thank you Sarah and all the staff I've had the pleasure of meeting

Mum was only in the home for a very short period before she died. The care, compassion and dignity they afford Mum was second to none. Everyone without exception showed these traits and my fears were totally unfounded.
The last couple of days before she died the care family took my Mum, my sister and
I under their wing and looked after all 3 of us and we were all truly grateful. Thank you
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your beautiful words. It means more than I can say that you took the time to share this during such a difficult period for you and your family. It was truly our privilege to care for your mum, even though her time with us was short. She was a remarkable lady, and we are grateful that you entrusted her into our care. Knowing that she felt safe, respected, and comforted in her final days is something the whole team holds close to heart. We were also honoured to be able to support you and your sister. In moments like these, families become part of our own care family, and we do everything we can to make sure no one feels alone. Your gratitude is deeply appreciated, but please know that caring for all three of you was simply what we were here to do. From all of us, thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you during such a tender time. Your mum will be remembered with warmth.

After having numerous bad experiences with the care my Mum has received since going into care we were worried this would be another uncaring care home.
We have had our faith restored since my Mum went into Castleford Lodge last April. She is cared for correctly, fed at meal times and interacted with.
My mum's falls have been reduced massively and our family can now rest knowing we don't have to visit if we don't want to.
The meals are varied and appealing with plenty of choices for all diets.
The staff are friendly,,approachable and honest which is so important to us as a family,
We wish we had moved my Mum here right from the start.
Reply from Sarah Golden-Hill, Home Manager at Castleford Lodge Nursing HomeCan i just start by thanking you for taking the time to complete the review for Castleford lodge. I have to thank you for your kind words in relation to the way that your mum has settled into Castleford. Our approach is to ensure that the transition from one setting to another is smooth and that this does not have a negative impact on the individual. I am pleased to hear that Castleford Lodge and the whole team has restored your faith around care that is delivered in the care setting. It is also nice to hear that mums falls have reduced since moving to Castleford and that you feel that our menu is varied and appealing with a good choice for all types of diets. I will also pass over to the whole team that you find the staff friendly approachable and it is good to here that they are open and honest with you in relation to your mum and her needs. Again Lisa can i just thank you for the your kind words on the review

The staff at the care home are lovely and nothing is too much trouble, they are all kind and helpful and treat the residents like friends. The kitchen staff are great, they make lovely meals and always treat the residents when its their Birthday making cakes and singing to them. Christmas was a really
special event, the manager Sarah and her wife Jackie came in dressed as elves making it a really great day, they always go the extra mile getting the residents up singing and dancing making sure they enjoy themselves. My mum is happy living here, she walks around the home chatting to everyone. Keep up the good work Castleford Lodge.
Reply from Sarah Golden-Hill, Registered home manager at Castleford Lodge Nursing HomeHello, can i take this opportunity to thank you for such lovely words about Castleford Lodge and the team that we have working here. The staff will always go ensure that each person is given time to make them feel special ensuring that they are receiving the care and treatment that they need. Birthdays are special times and the kitchen team will always provide everyone with a special Birthday cake and sing to them cause we all love a sing song. Christmas in Castleford will always be special and the team will always ensure that everyone enjoys the day and is involved in some form of singing or dancing and as for dressing up who doesn't want to be an elf. I will pass on your kind words to the full team, and we aim to keep up the work and bring more fun to the home in 2026.

Since my mum went to Middleton Park Lodge earlier this year, I have been impressed with the care she has received. The staff are really polite and helpful when we visit, and I feel they treat the residents really well in difficult circumstances. The facilities are always as clean as can be, and my mum's
room is always spotless. If anything, I feel there could be more activities, but I understand this is difficult due to staff numbers. The home are good at posting pictures on social media of activities so ourselves and families can see. I can't comment on the food, but I haven't heard many complaints.

Our mother was in the care of Middleton Park Lodge Home for approximately a year. Even though it took Mum some time to settle in, which was upsetting at times, the staff were very patient and understanding of her needs and how she felt. It was very obvious to myself and my siblings that eventually
she trusted the staff and had her particular favourites. Despite the staff being very busy at times with other residents, they still found the time to spend time with Mum when she was anxious. Often allowing her to spend time in the nurses' office to 'help' them. I'd go so far to say Mum was loved by many of the nurses/carers and that was shown in her final days where Mum was shown care and dignity until she left us. We were shown the same respect and kindness in the final hours of her life and nothing was too much to enable us to stay by her bedside 24/7.
Reply from Suzanne Mckie, Peripatetic Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your review of Middleton Park Lodge. It was an honour to provide the care and support your mum needed during her final year. We deeply appreciate your trust in our team and remain committed to supporting families with compassion and dignity.

The nursing and palliative care given to my mum in the last days of her life was absolutely astounding.
My wife worked on the MacMillan ward for 10 years and said the care and compassion given to my mum, myself and our family at the most difficult time of our lives by the staff at Castleford Lodge
was second to none.
No amount of words can express the gratitude and love we feel for the team. They work so hard and always provided a high level of care . We are forever indebted to you. Thank you .
Reply from Sarah Golden-Hill, Home Manager at Castleford Lodge Nursing HomeMark can i first take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time in this emotional time for you and your family to send a review with such kind and caring words. My mother has vascular dementia and I can honestly say I have not had any concerns with regard her care at Lofthouse Grange and Lodge. The carer staff are very attentive and seem to be aware of each of the residents failings. There are also two dedicated entertainment staff who keep the residents occupied
with various activities and they also seem to bring in outside entertainers and have singalongs with the residents who all enjoy this.
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind words about the care your mother receives at Lofthouse Grange and Lodge. We are delighted to hear that you have had no concerns and that our carer staff have been attentive and aware of each resident's individual needs. We are also pleased that you value the work of our dedicated activities team. Providing meaningful engagement, entertainment, and opportunities for social interaction is an important part of supporting our residents' wellbeing, and it is wonderful to know that your mother enjoys the singalongs and visiting entertainers. Your feedback is greatly appreciated by the whole team, and it reassures us that our efforts to provide compassionate, person-centred care are making a positive difference. Thank you again for your support and trust in us.

My wife was a resident at Lofthouse grange for some time before peacefully passing
During her stay she received an excellent standard of care
All of the staff from manager to carers and all of the support staff showed care and compassion at all times often under challenging conditions, and always
with a smile
I would, and have, recommend this facility to anyone who is considering a kind and respectful environment
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you for sharing such kind words with us at what we know is a very difficult time. We are deeply sorry for your loss, and it means a great deal to hear that your wife's time at Lofthouse Grange felt comfortable, respectful, and supported. Your recognition of the care and compassion shown by our team - from managers and carers to support staff - is truly appreciated. They work tirelessly, often under challenging circumstances, and your feedback affirms the value of their dedication and the importance of the "smile" they bring to each day. We are honoured that you would recommend Lofthouse Grange to others, and we will continue to uphold the standards of kindness and respect that you have highlighted. Please know that your words will be shared with the team, who will take great comfort in knowing the difference they made for your wife and your family.

Mum moved in 2022 & from the start with Chloe, Stacey, Jess, Sarah & the care assistants mums time living there has been comfortable, caring, safe & the communication I've received has been friendly & professional.I have noticed however over the last 12-18 months a couple of agency staff have been disinterested
in their shift & had to be asked more than twice to complete a task but the senior/ regular staff have remained patient. Some of the night staff could perhaps take a little more time with helping to dress mum, I visit on a weekly sometimes twice weekly basis & have noticed mum not wearing alot of her new tops I've found them on the floor of the wardrobe & because she is short has worn them without bottom halves, I understand she may not always be compliant but this can leave her prone to showing the tops of her thighs, I haven't yet mentioned this to any staff as hopefully they will supply a blanket when I'm not there & she's seated in a comfy chair.
Reply from Krzysztof Bialczyk, Home Manager at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your thoughtful message and for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly grateful that your mum has been with us since 2022, and it's heartening to hear that her time at Lofthouse has felt comfortable, caring, and safe. Your kind words about Chloe, Stacey, Jess, Sarah, and our care assistants mean a great deal to the team - they work hard to build trust and connection, and your recognition is deeply appreciated. We also want to thank you for raising your observations with such care and clarity. We take all feedback seriously, especially when it relates to dignity and consistency in care. Your comments regarding agency staff and night-time dressing routines have been noted, and we will follow up internally to ensure that expectations are reinforced and that your mum's preferences - including her clothing and comfort - are respected at all times.
