After having had an awful experience at a previous care home we arrived at Castleford Lodge with apprehension. However, from our arrival with my father, it was extremely obvious that this home was a happy and lively place to be. We were greeted with friendly faces who made us feel welcome and my dad
put at ease. The staff at this home are second to none. We are confident that my dad is well cared for and has the stimulation he needs. Thank you.

I highly recommend this Care Home 10/10.
Just wanted to say a few words about the staff at Castleford Lodge and the loving care which has and is being provided to my Mother since she arrived.
Special thanks to the management and staff who have been outstanding in every way showing compassion, loving
care and the utmost dignity to my mother.
I cannot commend you enough, you have been amazing and I am confident that my mother’s remaining time with you as loving and comfortable as now. Thank you so much, ladies, from the bottom of my heart.

Nursing, care and domiciliary staff are very caring and supportive towards residents and their families. Activities occur regularly and are well organised and enjoyed by many residents. Food could sometimes be better, vegetables are often underlooked and pastry is too thick and tough.

When viewing for a nursing home for my sister, Castleford Lodge made me very welcome.
Everyone, carers, staff, nurses, gave me a lot of support.
Took me to the bedroom which was under decoration, which I liked.
My sister was accepted and arrived August 15th, 2017.
Yes, we have had issues, some which
could have been avoided.
It's like anything else, you get good staff and bad. Bank staff let the home down. They do not know the residents and come over less caring.
My sister has settled and since August last year 2017, I feel the home has come on 100%, everyone trying hard.
Still, a long way to go but I hope I'm right saying we will get there if everyone pulls together, lots to be learned.
They are our loved ones!

Castleford Lodge Care Home staff have been a relationship restorer for our family. We were at rock bottom with no ideas on how to manage our very sad situation. My dad was offered respite that went wrong, then Castleford Lodge Care Home offered him a place. We as a family have moved forward with the
help and understanding of the staff. My dad is comfortably looked after and healthy in himself. What more could we want? Much more but the situation is what it is.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.303)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.303) out of 10 for Castleford Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.428 for Castleford Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (129 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 194 Ratings = 4.428
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castleford Lodge Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
