View full details of Primrose House Care HomeCare home always seems clean and tidy, staff are pleasant and friendly. Always ask if you would like a cup of tea. In summer if required the patients are taken out in wheelchair. The staff try to keep patients occupied with colouring in, jigsaws, games etc. The patient I visit is fed through tube so cannot comment on food or drink. Always seems to be done with care.
Can't fault the home at since my mam moved there I've noticed a massive difference in her and she is well looked after and all her needs are met she's eating and drinking well and the staff always engage with her
My mother-in-law has only been in Primrose House Care Home or 12 weeks - initially on respite care placement. Management have kept us informed of her progress and any day to day concerns. They have listened and acted upon any family concerns.
Myself and my husband visit his mum usually every 3 weeks or so, his mum always appears to very well looked after, and happy in her surroundings. The home is always clean and tidy, her bedroom is cosy and warm. I would definitely recommend it to any one looking to house their relatives in their later years.
My brother has been at Primrose House for 4 years now and the care he has recieved in that time has been excellent. He is always clean, recieves his medication on time. His room is clean as are the rest of the facilities. The staff are amazing. Always friendly and welcoming from the office and reception team to the carers themselves. There is entertainment and activities throughout the year for the residents. He has been in other homes before but this is the best one.
At time of review my mother has been a resident for 12 weeks. This was initially a 5-6 week emergency respite placement. The staff have coped well, settling her in after initial traumatic placement. Home is playing catch-up to some degree because mothers condition was worse than thought. Rooms okay but en-suite not available. Cannot comment on food or activities as have not sampled/ observed
I had visited my mum in the home & there was a resident man hand jested me over to him, which I did & he grabbed me down below & don't feel anything was done about it, after social services called the home nothing was done & then the manager asked speak to me so she could do something about, I had already previously spoken to her about this. Mum was in hospital in October & was put on Mushy food but the Hospital had advised the home in November she could star eating bite size food, the home never adhered to this so I had to call the Hospital again last week & they called the home to tell them again. I ordered a wig for mum from on 17th November & again nothing was done, I called the Dr's again & they said they sent it straight out, the home said the hadn't received, I find that very strange. I do think the rooms need a little updated with more shower rooms.
The care home staff are great and very friendly and professional however I find the building and rooms are very dated and old fashioned, they are in need of a lot of renovation in most places especially the residents rooms
My dad has been a resident in Primrose house since July as he was unstable on his feet and his Alzheimer's was getting worse. He is well looked after on floor 2 the staff are excellent and always friendly. We can't fault the care he is given and feel reassured he is looked after.
My Dad is in Primrose house and is well taken care of. The staff are lovely and always helpful and we even have few laughs and even sing alongs. We were so worried when he first went in but soon reassured he was ok.
My dear old uncle has never been one for looking after himself, and in the months before we intervened, we were very worried about him. He had become a shadow of his former self and refused all help at home - even turning carers away at the door. With the support of Gateshead Council's adult social care team, we finally encouraged him to consider residential care, and in summer 2024 he moved into Primrose House. We were nervous at first. A year on, I can honestly say he has thrived. The staff at Primrose have been wonderful - patient, kind, and genuinely caring. They treat him with dignity and have brought out a happier, healthier version of him that we feared was lost. For us as a family, the peace of mind has been priceless. Primrose has given my uncle not just care, but a real home that he shares with his new friends. A true supportive, family atmosphere. Thank you Primrose, your carers are wonderful. A special thanks to one man, he is the heartbeat of that home. Lovely man!
I was a little worried about my mam going into Primrose House, as I had heard bad things about this place, am pleased I have been proved wrong, its 10 out of 10 from me the staff are excellent they no there job and keep me up to date always.
There is always a good atmosphere on my grandad's floor. The staff are always welcoming and great with my grandad. Grandad always looks clean and happy when I visit him which means a lot to me, the past few years have been hard when it comes down to my grandad's diagnosis but with the staff here looking after him, I can now relax and sleep at night. Thank you to all the staff who are looking after him.
Excellent! The staff are excellent, they take care of all of my needs. They are very friendly and helpful and I am glad I live here. All of the facilities are good. I enjoy being in the lounge and mixing with other residents. The home frequently bring in singers and I like to see the therapy dog each week.
Lovely staff. Really happy that Dad is being cared for well. He's also happy with the food, so we have no complaints at all with his treatment.
My friend moved into Primrose House 13 months ago and has settled in ok. The staff have been great with him, but they do seem to have a regular turnover of staff (carers), which is hard for my friend to understand and get used to. The home itself is showing signs of age, the lift broke down and was out of order for 3/4 weeks, he needs a wheelchair so was stuck on the third floor and couldn't get out, there were issues with the toilet/shower door which rendered the toilet/shower unusable for a number of days. His room does have great views and is kept clean, he spends all of his time in his room, as he is not very sociable, and the staff check on him regularly and keep him topped up with tea or coffee with biscuits. My friend does have issues at meal times, mainly due to his dental issues, and often sends his food back. Maybe diet requirements could be looked into.
The staff have been brilliant in looking after Mum and giving her the support she needs. All the staff are friendly and caring.
We are happy with this place. My dad, even though he speaks a different language, is happy with his stay here.
My dad moved into Primrose House in early August this year, when we could no longer care for him at home. He was poorly and because of his condition exhibited some challenging behaviour. The manager and deputy manager were welcoming and skilled at dealing with Dad and putting us all at ease. Dad soon entered end-of-life Care at Primrose. The manager and deputy manager and their teams of carers and nursing staff were amazing. They all provided Dad with cheerful, professional and dignified care during his last few weeks. My son and I did shifts of sitting with my dad during his final days and we are forever grateful for the support we received from all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. This was a very stressful and difficult time for us all as a family but we feel lucky to have found Primrose House. Dad was looked after very well there in his final few weeks.
It was the first time my husband had been in respite care. I was most concerned about his welfare/well-being and acceptance of his situation. On my unannounced initial enquiry visit, I was met by staff who were passionate about their work and were freely shown around the home without having any prior invitation. My fears were unfounded, he was well looked after in all aspects of care and even left his visitor on their own to go and sit with his 'new friend'. The staff were compassionate, polite and friendly, knowing everybody by name. He has joined in the activities provided and the home was clean, bright and welcoming. 100% recommended.
