View Full Details of St Marks CourtSt Marks care home in Gateshead is absolutely appauling. Some members of staff are kind and do try to work for the best of the residents others however I have found lazy and are unable to complete the most basic of care tasks. If you're looking for a care home that serves awful food, leaves residents in dirty beds and in dirty rooms, does not protect residents medical record or personal data and stores clinical waste incorrectly this is the place for you. If I could give a zero star rating I would.
We are very pleased with the care being provided. The staff are all excellent and there are so many planned activities. Clearly the focus is on meeting residents needs and supporting them to be as independent as possible. As family members we are always kept informed and consulted. The home is clean and the rooms are a good size with accessible call bells that are always quickly responded to.
Dad has been in St Marks over a year now and is very content. The home is very well run and the recently newly appointed leadership has made it even better in terms of resident, staff and relatives experience.
Outstanding care, Grandmother is well looked after. Fantastic facilities and allowed peace of mind knowing she has been cared for to the highest standard. 100% recommend.
The staff are very kind and helpful. It is very clean and makes me feel like I'm at home.
My father-in-law was in here for 2 weeks for palliative care, I would like to thank all the nursing staff and carers. The love, care, compassion and support from all the staff was exceptional. They go above and beyond to help all residents in this home, I would highly recommend it to anyone! They deserve more than 5 stars. Thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts!
My dad transferred to St Marks and was here for a year and he was on the residential floor then went on nursing, he was happy but then was unhappy. So as a family, we decided to take him out and he is now in a new care home. He is really happy now.
Very prompt and efficient move-in process and changing room to be more comfortable and near the nurses station. Good communication from nursing staff with health updates. Staff are positive and engaging. Would like more receptiveness to sensor mat alarms, but understand pressure on staffing, plus clothes missing during laundry. But overall, our family have been very grateful of the level of care and respect offered to our family members and we would recommend St Marks to others!
We had to come to this home for respite as our roof blew off in the heavy wind and the home got soaked inside with all the rain. And we had nowhere else to go. All the staff welcomed us and looked after us so well. I can't thank everyone so much for all they have done for us.
Very good.
At all times I have witnessed the staff treat my father with dignity and care. At times there has been a tense situation and the staff have always managed to control and resolve the situation. The management staff have been very helpful, and when I made any enquiries. All my questions have been answered fully.
Mam fell and broke her hip in hospital 3 weeks ago. Back to home then back to hospital (breathing problem), returned back to home for palliative care. Passed away 3rd January.
We transferred Dad to St Marks from the hospital to receive palliative care. The staff at St Marks cared for my dad as if he were their family. Dad felt safe and happy to be in a home-from-home environment, and his death was calm, comfortable and ultimately peaceful. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for making Dad's last few days happy ones. I will be forever grateful.
Two weeks of respite has worked out really well and would be happy to come back if necessary.
I like it here.
Quite a nice place. Carers are kind and helpful, as are all the staff.
After almost one year of care, we removed my father to another residential home. St Marks were unable to maintain and ultimately provide the basic level of care needed. Staff attrition led to increased reliance on agency staff, subsequently, levels of care declined to a level which justified multiple complaints. Six months on and no improvements and care continued to decline. The food provided was generally unhealthy and lacked variation. St Marks left my father unkept, and unshaven, with hair not combed, and wearing other people’s ill-fitting clothes became too much for the family. Safeguarding issues were the last straw and my father was removed from the home within a week. I’d strongly recommend considering alternative residential care.
Very friendly approach. On the welcome of my mam, staff, manager and depty were very nice, caring and supportive towards me and my mam. Good size rooms, food very good standard and loads of activities too. I would definitely recommend a stay at st Marks.
My dad has been looked after great. The staff are very caring and friendly. My dad has said he enjoyed his week here.
Found the staff really friendly and helpful in all areas.
