View Full Details of St Joseph's HomeGood quality care home, my brother is safe and well cared for he is settled and happy. This is a wonderful care home. The staff are, without exception, kind, caring, professional and supportive. They keep me informed of every event and any problems. The social space is light and well-planned and the social programme exciting, inclusive and happy. The grounds and views across the Tyne Valley are beautiful.
The home is very friendly and welcoming, the staff go out of their way to make sure residents are well cared for and happy. I have watched them deal with situations with patience and empathy even when they have been extremely busy.
St Joseph's is an extraordinary place to live, with outstanding care at every level, given by dedicated and devoted staff at all times. When visiting my uncle the other week, I was once again struck by the sheer commitment of all staff in addressing his emotional and physical needs. As I live in the Midlands, I'm not able to provide the frequent family support I'd like, but know that the staff there do this and there is very much a family feel there: it has become my home too- and family! it has been a great source of joy to be able to be welcomed into the family and we all know that he is being cared for as they would look after their own family members. Communication about everything is excellent and built on a deep sense of trust and loving relationship with the exceptional spiritual and loving ethos which is absolutely integral to this wonderful place. Heartfelt thanks.
My mother has been resident here for just over 2 years and could not be happier. She feels safe and well cared for. The staff are respectful and caring and nothing is too much of a bother. The place is squeaky clean, lots to do and great homecooked food. 24 registered nurse cover, and weekly GP surgery and hairdresser on site. Beautiful grounds outside to walk or just sit in the sunshine.
My sister in law has been in St Joseph's Home for 3 years ( my husband was in for 8months before he died, in residence). It is a wonderful place, full of happy , caring staff and volunteers. They all respect the residents needs and give them their full attention when needed. My sister in law is not a good mixer , she has always preferred her own company; this is respected by everyone but they are still very friendly and kind, popping in to see her in her room and chatting when they have minutes to share. I cannot find anything to say that is detrimental to St Joseph's.
We are regular visitors to St Joseph's our cousin's care home and always find it welcoming and caring. The sisters ,staff ,and volunteers are all exceptional people and put so much thought and effort into their roles. As a family we are extremely grateful for the exemplary care ,spiritually, physically and mentally shown to all the residents. We also enjoy going to Mass and the grounds together .The fetes, singalongs and afternoon teas we've had as part of the community there have been great fun too. We are so fortunate to have a beautiful environment and wonderful care for our dear cousin at this time of her life.
My mum has lived in the home for almost eighteen months. She needs all carers and is hoisted. The staff treat her with respect and are all kind and caring. Every morning the staff get her washed and dressed and wheel her to the sitting room, and put the television on for her. She always had the telly on when she lived at home. She goes back to bed in the afternoon for a nap as she gets very tired. I get regular updates from the staff and they always contact me if they are worried about my mum. I also find the staff on reception are very friendly and helpful. I live a couple of hours away from the home but I never worry about my mum as I know that she is well looked after.
St Joseph's Care Home has provided excellent care for my mother for almost 4 years. The home also welcomed my dad for the last few months of his life. The staff and community of St Joseph's have been a warm and caring support for my mam. Speak to the residents and they all say how lucky they are to be able to feel safe and secure in the StJoseph's community.
I couldn't wish to have my Mam living in a more caring environment The staff are lovely. Without exception they are all patient and kind and cheerful I don't live locally but I get a monthly update on her health and even if she has a mild physical issue I get a telephone call immediately There is a GP visit every week and if there are any health concerns I am always able to meet with the lead clinician + GP + Pharmacist to discuss issues and remedies There are activities every afternoon in a large remodelled Activities Room Mon-Fri and when I visit we go down to the sing-along on a Wednesday. Despite her dementia and short term memory loss she suddenly remembers all the words to the 'oldie' songs.. The grounds are extensive and well maintained and there many south facing places to sit outside and enjoy summer weather
The staff and Sisters go above and beyond to make my father comfortable and cared for; he is treated as if he were a member of the family and as a visitor I feel welcome at St Joseph's. I enjoy visiting very much! Dad moved in in April this year and he settled in very quickly. Everyone went out of their way to welcome him and to accommodate his needs. There are lots of activities and events, the home is spacious and clean, and the gardens are lovely and peaceful. I particularly like to take Dad to the library to spend time looking at books with him - it's so quiet. My aunt (RIP) also lived at St Joseph's for many years: when the time came for Dad to need extra care we knew he'd be safe and happy here.
After 9 months I could not be happier with the standard of care for my mother. She knew the home well and with my father was a regular visitor to see siblings. When Mum arrived the welcome couldn't have been warmer - the staff remembered her well. Not only does it show how caring they are - it also demonstrates that St Joseph's retains their staff for many years. The domestic staff take pride in cleanliness throughout the building. The dining room is light, airy and comfortable with special treats on celebratory days. I eat with my mum now and again and am happy with the food. I am particularly pleased that staff listen to my mum and try to accommodate her wishes - and they listen to me too. Communication is good both verbally and in writing. I can't think of anywhere better when the time comes to be cared for in a community. It is hard for older people to give up their old lives and their own homes. St Joseph's recognise this and the ups and downs that come with this enormous change.
My mum has been a resident for just over four years. Following a recent stay in hospital, extremely ill and requiring lots of support. The care mum received was outstanding, with the staff ensuring she was washed and dressed and sat up every day. We also got to see, for the first time, the dedication of the nuns, who are able to offer additional support and care, especially at meal times. The staff, including all the support staff, were also very supportive of me and my family, and gave us the strength needed to help mum get better. Thankfully mum is now much recovered. It has been such a dramatic recovery and we cannot thank the staff, everyone of them, enough. They have all shown mum dignity and respect throughout.
Spent a few days last week visiting my Uncle with my brother at St Joseph's. Once again it was reassuring to see how well he was being cared for. The care staff were so attentive and kind. Special thanks to everyone working at the home.
This is a wonderful care home. The staff are, without exception, kind, caring, professional and supportive. They keep me informed of every event and any problems. We recently held my cousin's 90th birthday party there and nothing was too much trouble. Her room is clean, tidy and well organised and her clothes are beautifully kept in her wardrobe. The food is delicious and a choice is always provided. The social space is light and well-planned and the social programme exciting, inclusive and happy. The grounds and views across the Tyne Valley are beautiful. Overall it is a happy, safe, healthy and friendly place for my cousin and we enjoy our visits. She is so well cared for.
My aunty has been a resident for a little over a year now. She is very happy there. The staff are very pleasant and courteous to residents and visitors. She can attend mass every day and has learned to paint.
My mam is a resident in this home and I am very happy with the care and attention she is given. We are always greeted with a warm welcome by the staff when we arrive and while we are at the home. She always looks clean and well cared for. The staff are very thorough regarding any medical attention she requires such as Covid booster jabs and we are always kept informed if these are taking place. I have no hesitation in recommending this home and I know my mam will be well cared for in the future.
Amazing welcome for my uncle following prior discussion regarding his needs and preferences. Staff are so diligent. Activities weekdays vary and entertainment regularly. Meal times are very social and diet is given attention regarding individuals' personal preferences if necessary. Warm, peaceful atmosphere. Daily religious services. Homely and friendly.
My parents recently spent a week in respite care at St Joseph's. They were apprehensive about leaving their home: however, the sisters and the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. They were very open to discussion with me and my brothers in preparing for the visit so that my parents' stay was very successful My father requires a great deal of support, and we all felt he was cared for to the highest standard. Although the stay was short, the carers quickly got to know my parents and made them feel welcome and supported. The home is absolutely spotlessly clean: the environment is quiet, peaceful and ordered. We were pleased to find that visitors were welcome at all times, and my brother and I could have supper with my mother one night in the dining room. My parents concluded that the care they had had was excellent - they could not find fault with any aspect of their stay.
My dear mother was a resident at St Joseph's for fourteen months before she sadly passed away. From her very first day, the amazing staff worked hard to make her feel welcome, safe and secure. Their dedication, commitment and hard work were always evident, as was the love, dignity and respect, which was shown to all the residents and their respective family members. My mother always said how grateful she was to live at St Joseph's, which was her home where she was able to socialise with other residents, fulfil her spiritual needs and be part of one big family with everyone; she said so lovely and kind. As a family, we also felt truly blessed and so grateful to the care and nursing staff, mother, sisters and all the staff who worked so hard to make St Joseph's a truly wonderful home.
My mother-in-law moved into the home just before Christmas. She was made to feel very welcome as soon as she arrived and has settled well. She speaks very highly of all the care team who treat her with dignity and respect. She was recently unwell and felt that she was very well cared for.
