View Full Details of Rydal Care HomeA Truly Wonderful Home - Thank You, Rydal Care Home! My mum recently moved into Rydal Care Home, and I can honestly say that the care, kindness, and professionalism she has received have far exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, she was welcomed with open arms-not just as a resident, but as part of a caring family. The transition was handled with such warmth and understanding, and the staff made every effort to ensure she settled in comfortably and with dignity. Her room is absolutely beautiful-it has been thoughtfully decorated to her personal taste, making it feel like home rather than a facility. It's clear the team takes great care in creating a comfortable, personalised space for each resident. The staff are exceptional-they are kind, compassionate, and incredibly responsive. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Whether it's a warm smile in the morning or gentle reassurance in the evening, they treat my mum with the respect and affection she truly deserves. She regu
My dad was a resident at Rydal Care Home, and I will be forever grateful for the exceptional care he received. From the very beginning, the management and staff welcomed him - and us - with open arms. They treated my dad with such love, respect and personal attention, and they always made us feel included, listened to and supported. Their compassion and dedication shone through, even during some incredibly difficult moments. They went above and beyond, doing thoughtful things just for him, and always tried to bring comfort and dignity into his day. They really got to know who he was and responded to his needs with genuine humanity. I know they carried their concern for him home with them - they worried about him, lost sleep over him, and kept caring even when no one was watching. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and accommodating. I can't thank them enough or recommend them more highly. They are a truly special team, who we will always remember with love and gratitude. xx
I visit my friend in this care home and the staff and especially the amazing activity coordinators go the extra mile to get to know her , to care for her and yesterday took her out on the train at 102 years old !! Just brilliant and she loved it ! She's content , secure and happy and that's what matters
My mother has been a resident in Rydal care home since May 2023. She is extremely happy living there. The care staff are very attentive to her needs. They have been very supportive to both mental & health needs. The emphasis is on giving quality of life in your later years. Many activities are undertaken within the care home itself. But the activities team take residents to the pub regularly for pub lunch. Fish n chips are brought in in a Friday. Yesterday my mother was treated to a trip to out by train with another resident & two carers. She is absolutely buzzing today. What a treat. Thanks guys. You are amazing.
My dad was placed in Rydal following a double hip replacement, for 6 weeks rehabilitation. The lack of care was shocking. On one occasion he badly cut his arm on a cable tie which was left on the bedframe they put on for him (he was on blood thinners). I believe the sheer lack of care he received resulted in his gradual decline. He was given physio and following this he had terrible pain in his abdomen. He lost his appetite completely and nothing was done about it. He had to be rushed into hospital with pneumonia. My dad very sadly lost his life to a perforation to the bowel.
I was a resident in Rydal Care Home for 5 days recently. I found the home to be clean & tidy but most of all and the most important thing was how welcoming caring & considerate the staff were. Nothing was too much trouble they just wanted to feel comfortable...They are a star team..
My Dad was admitted to Rydal for 6 weeks of rehab stay on a Saturday. To be honest, the first 2 days were not good, a lot of issues that we were unhappy about. I spoke with the Manager at the start of the week & told her of all of the issues. She was very sorry about Dad's experience so far and promised to put things right & asked us/Dad to give them a second chance. She kept me informed at all times & I am happy to say that since then (bar a couple of meals that weren't suitable for him but were soon rectified) everything has been really good. The staff are amazing, very caring, considerate, friendly, and respectful - even one of the chefs came to see Dad about his dietary requirements. The room was kept clean and tidy and the food was lovely. The Physios and OH were fab & together Dad's progress was enough to get him back home, which we didn't think would happen. We are happy that Dad did stay & would recommend Rydal Care Home. Many thanks to all.
My husband was sent to Rydal for rehab and I can honestly say the care he was given was great. He was well looked after, kept clean and tidy and nothing was a bother for the staff who was always kind and friendly. He had good physio and went from not being able to walk to walking with a walking frame. The food was lovely good wholesome cooked food. Overall, he enjoyed his stay and would recommend the care home.
My mother was admitted to Rydal for end-of-life care following a diagnosis of terminal cancer. She was cared for well, the staff were kind, caring and had great attention to detail. One nurse in particular was a wonderful nurse who went above and beyond.
My grandmother attended Rydal Darlington for a period of rehabilitation. I would really like to outline my experience and gratefulness for the staff at this care home. In particular I would like to highlight the manager, I cannot express how much she went above and beyond to settle my anxieties and express her knowledge in this topic area to reassure me about the care and attention to detail that my grandmother would receive during her stay. After the duration of the stay I am pleased to confirm that my grandmother did receive everything promised and felt comfortable and calm throughout the duration, something the family were worried she may not do from previous experiences. Can I please outline my praise, appreciation and thanks to the manager, someone with a clear passion to care for others, in addition to her team.
I found all staff and management so kind, helpful and patient. I found they supported my dad and my family so well throughout his stay at Rydal.
I felt my husband was well looked after with a couple of the carers going above and beyond for him. The food was very good with a good variation to choose from. The cleaners and laundry staff visibly seen every day also did a good job.
Husband went for 6 week respite care after hospital. He became ill again while in Rydal and staff looked after him very well. Always clean. Medicines issued at correct time, and all staff were wonderful. Food very good! Would like to give special mention to the nurse on floor one, so easy to approach if I had any questions. Also the manager was very supportive.
Pleasantly surprised with this care home. My wife was sent from our local NHS hospital for respite and physiotherapy to get back to walking after a nasty fall at home. The home was warm, clean and very welcoming - there were no unpleasant smells and the en suite room very clean and smartly furnished and decorated. All the staff have been wonderful and extremely helpful. I would recommend this care home to anyone.
It took a while for Mum to settle in but the staff were very friendly and patient with her. The reason for my review is just to highlight the times when we felt the staff were overstretched. During these times the activities were missed and the wait for the bathroom was at times longer than we would have liked for other residents too. Phones can go unanswered for periods of time the focus being quite rightly on the resident's care but frustrating all the same. I have only admiration for the staff as it is obviously a demanding job and they do it with good humour and genuine affection for the people in their care.
I was sent to Rydal Care Home to recuperate from an operation at the hospital to mend a right broken femur. This was after one week spent in a different hospital. Because of visiting difficulties there for my husband (83 years old). Rydal Care Home kindly offered me a bed and the excellent physiotherapy treatment there helped me to go home after about ten days. My dairy free diet caused some difficulty with meals but the excellent cook used his imagination andall was well. My thanks to the pleasant, very good staff.
My father spent two weeks in Rydal Care Home after a hip replacement. The staff took great care of him and met all his needs. The physiotherapists got him back on his feet safely and he is now home. Thanks to all who were involved in his care.
Staff are great. Food excellent. Room cleaning is poor.
Excellent staff and management.
A great care home with caring, dedicated staff, and our family member is well looked after. A credit to the care home profession.
