View Full Details of Acomb Court Care HomeThe standard of care is very good, the staff are kind and committed to their duty of care - always patient with the residents. We are grateful to them.
Mum arrived very thin and run-down. She is now looking and feeling a lot stronger and more able to engage with us all. She had a wonderful birthday party arranged by Acomb Court, where all her family and friends were able to see what a great improvement her stay here has made to her recovery from her hip and arm fracture. I am so grateful for the kindness and patience you have all shown to her and to me.
I come and visit my grandad here. I find the building and rooms well maintained, light and welcoming. All staff and management are friendly and welcoming and always speak. My grandad is well looked after and is always happy and content here, which is good to see. There are often day trips and activities which he doesn't always participate in, but it's nice to see things like that available. Housekeeping appears to be of a great standard.
So disillusioned with what was offered to what my mother received. We totally bought into the glitz & glam of the home appearance. 1st week, incorrect medication administer-CQC informed, assaulted by another resident, ambulance rang as a precaution. Residents just wandering in & out of bedrooms, so many time we had to look for her TV remote. Went in with a handbag and a few personal items. No where to be seen when we moved her to another home. Spent a week with no glasses, totally disabling & no sense of urgency to find them, other than looking in an old biscuit tin full of other lost glasses, had to buy new glasses. Mother took poorly with an ambulance being call, residents still coming into room with no staff to stop them, had to lock door to allow paramedics administer their care. Lack of actives other than Daniel O'Donnell on the tv or hopefully being picked to go to the ground floor. Hard enough making decisions for you loved ones. Need vast improvement.
I am overwhelmed on the care and attention my family member (mom) receives. Nothing is too much trouble. We moved mom here from Barnsley, South Yorkshire a we couldn't find any care home to match Acomb. The staff treat residents like family and it gives me reassurance of how cared for mom is. The food, cleanliness, attitude and personality of Acomb would be hard to beat. My sister who lives in Hexham found Acomb and I am so glad she did.
Acomb Court is a welcoming, bright, clean and professional care home. Staff are cheerful and respect my privacy and there is a comfortable and reliable routine. There is also lots of variety and plenty of activities to choose from if I want to get involved.
Your staff, from reception to cleaners & orderly staff have gone the extra mile to make my sister feel at home and cared for. The senior staff have been quick to respond to any concerns and questions we have raised as a family and combine high professional standards with great people skills. Thank you to all.
Mum is settling so well with lots of attention, support and everyone is so friendly. Mum is enjoying morning teas and afternoon teas, especially the offer of a sherry. Lovely room and lots of activities. Lots of stimulation so pleased with everything.
I had a short visit to see my mum and took my daughter. We needed to sort a couple of matters and discussed them with one of the ladies and she was very helpful. I'm pleased Mum is here as the level of care and support is very good and the staff are very helpful.
Love the staff. Two staff members in particular are always sparkling. Another is brilliant. And another staff member is also a lovely person. They have great day trips and the place is so jolly and fun to be in. Always welcomes through the front door. Yes it's a good place to be and the residents are all friendly folk.
My mum was always cared for with great sensitivity and love. The home always had a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
All levels of staff are courteous, knowledgeable and communications are high. The care of my parents is always prompt and responsive to needs. The food is variable and nutritious. My parent's preference for vegetables would prefer to be undercooked. Facilities are cleaned daily or as required - some are communal bathrooms and some are en-suite showers/washrooms. The management is very responsive and kindness is always shown.
Communication is high. The staff are very helpful, caring and chatty! Responsive to emergencies and falls as expected. Vegetables are a bit overcooked. Facilities are good. When possible ensuite shower would be great for consideration if one becomes available.
I have had excellent care here, been well looked after and felt safe. Nearly all of the staff have been very helpful in getting me settled in. It is mainly a happy place and everyone is helpful and polite. You need to learn to ask for what you would like or want.
Good little things happen as in all places but when drawn to attention care is put in order.

Acomb Court has a nice feeling. As soon as you walk through the door, it is a happy place because of all the staff that contribute all their energy into making you feel at home. I have found nothing but kindness, and caring from everyone towards my husband and I, which is reassuring, and makes me happy that my husband is getting the care he needs when I'm not there.
I feel that my sister is well looked after. Every time I visit, there are always different events on. When I visited at Christmas the decorations were amazing, like today on D-Day everyone was invited to the event.
My husband is a new resident at Acomb Court. After spending four weeks of respite, we decided he would be safer with professionals looking after him - he has settled very well and thinks he is in a hotel. The staff are very welcoming, kind ad helpful. He enjoys joining in with others and also likes some quiet time in his room. I have no problem leaving him as I know he will be really well looked after.
Acomb Court is an exceptionally very good care home. I'm more than happy with the care my aunty receives from all staff who are always very pleasant, kind and caring and very approachable if I need to ask anything with regards to my aunty.
