Mum arrived very thin and run-down. She is now looking and feeling a lot stronger and more able to engage with us all. She had a wonderful birthday party arranged by Acomb Court, where all her family and friends were able to see what a great improvement her stay here has made to her recovery from her
hip and arm fracture. I am so grateful for the kindness and patience you have all shown to her and to me.

I come and visit my grandad here. I find the building and rooms well maintained, light and welcoming. All staff and management are friendly and welcoming and always speak. My grandad is well looked after and is always happy and content here, which is good to see. There are often day trips and activities
which he doesn't always participate in, but it's nice to see things like that available. Housekeeping appears to be of a great standard.

So disillusioned with what was offered to what my mother received. We totally bought into the glitz & glam of the home appearance. 1st week, incorrect medication administer-CQC informed, assaulted by another resident, ambulance rang as a precaution. Residents just wandering in & out of bedrooms, so
many time we had to look for her TV remote. Went in with a handbag and a few personal items. No where to be seen when we moved her to another home. Spent a week with no glasses, totally disabling & no sense of urgency to find them, other than looking in an old biscuit tin full of other lost glasses, had to buy new glasses. Mother took poorly with an ambulance being call, residents still coming into room with no staff to stop them, had to lock door to allow paramedics administer their care.
Lack of actives other than Daniel O'Donnell on the tv or hopefully being picked to go to the ground floor. Hard enough making decisions for you loved ones. Need vast improvement.

Your Mother resided within a memory care community where at times other residents can walk into other residents bedrooms, colleagues do support residents at this time with redirection. We are sorry that this caused distress to you. We are reassured that staff took appropriate actions when there were concerns about your Mothers wellbeing or when an incident occurred. At HC-One, we aim to provide high quality care, including engaging activities. We pride ourselves in daily provision of activities over 7 days a week with 2 Wellbeing Co-ordinators employed to support our residents with meaningful activities. We apologise for the loss of your Mothers glasses and your views that the staff did not investigate this thoroughly. We will address this with the team to improve future practices.

I am overwhelmed on the care and attention my family member (mom) receives. Nothing is too much trouble. We moved mom here from Barnsley, South Yorkshire a we couldn't find any care home to match Acomb. The staff treat residents like family and it gives me reassurance of how cared for mom is. The food,
cleanliness, attitude and personality of Acomb would be hard to beat. My sister who lives in Hexham found Acomb and I am so glad she did.

Mum is settling so well with lots of attention, support and everyone is so friendly. Mum is enjoying morning teas and afternoon teas, especially the offer of a sherry. Lovely room and lots of activities. Lots of stimulation so pleased with everything.

I had a short visit to see my mum and took my daughter. We needed to sort a couple of matters and discussed them with one of the ladies and she was very helpful. I'm pleased Mum is here as the level of care and support is very good and the staff are very helpful.

Love the staff. Two staff members in particular are always sparkling. Another is brilliant. And another staff member is also a lovely person. All levels of staff are courteous, knowledgeable and communications are high. The care of my parents is always prompt and responsive to needs. The food is variable and nutritious. My parent's preference for vegetables would prefer to be undercooked. Facilities are cleaned daily or as required - some
are communal bathrooms and some are en-suite showers/washrooms. The management is very responsive and kindness is always shown.

Communication is high. The staff are very helpful, caring and chatty! Responsive to emergencies and falls as expected. Vegetables are a bit overcooked. Facilities are good. When possible ensuite shower would be great for consideration if one becomes available.

I have had excellent care here, been well looked after and felt safe. Nearly all of the staff have been very helpful in getting me settled in. It is mainly a happy place and everyone is helpful and polite. You need to learn to ask for what you would like or want.

Acomb Court has a nice feeling.
As soon as you walk through the door, it is a happy place because of all the staff that contribute all their energy into making you feel at home. I have found nothing but kindness, and caring from everyone towards my husband and I, which is reassuring, and makes me
happy that my husband is getting the care he needs when I'm not there.

I feel that my sister is well looked after. Every time I visit, there are always different events on. When I visited at Christmas the decorations were amazing, like today on D-Day everyone was invited to the event.

My husband is a new resident at Acomb Court. After spending four weeks of respite, we decided he would be safer with professionals looking after him - he has settled very well and thinks he is in a hotel. The staff are very welcoming, kind ad helpful. He enjoys joining in with others and also likes
some quiet time in his room. I have no problem leaving him as I know he will be really well looked after.

Acomb Court is an exceptionally very good care home. I'm more than happy with the care my aunty receives from all staff who are always very pleasant, kind and caring and very approachable if I need to ask anything with regards to my aunty.
The cleanliness of the home is of a very high standard, my
aunty is very happy in Acomb Court and on my visits she always is happy and smiling and the staff have also said she is always happy and is a pleasure to care for.

“Kind care, for me, is person-centred care. It is all about the individual and their needs.”


Kinga has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people during her 9 years in care work. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having started as Home Manager at Greenways Court in October 2020, Kinga was the perfect candidate as she closely shares HC-One’s vision aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident and has been a deputy Manager at HC-One for 3 years.


Kinga also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Acomb Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Kinga remarked:


“Spending time with Residents and listening to their life stories. Talking about photographs and memories Residents have in their rooms.”


“I enjoy supporting and developing my staff in any areas they wish to expand their knowledge, seeing the positive outcome of it makes me happy.”


Outside of work, Kinga enjoys many activities and hobbies, especially spending time with her family and travelling.
