All of the staff were lovely. The home has a lovely atmosphere and are made to feel welcome from the minute you walk through the door. My friend had lots of refreshments offered in my time there and is respected with dignity. The care staff always have time for the residents. Plenty activities going on.

Overall Experience

Our dad spent the last five weeks of his life here suffering from terminal cancer and needing nursing care. Initially, on arrival the room wasn't ready, everything seemed rushed and unprepared. We felt worried and sad leaving him there that evening even though by that time he was settled and comfortable. But we were so wrong by the next day he had had a bath- something he could no longer do himself and missed. As the staff got to know him his care got better and better. By the time he passed away five and half weeks later they seemed genuinely sad and one of the nursing staff cried with my mum and sister who were with him. He had a peaceful end after a long and hard journey and told the doctor that he did not wish to go back to hospital but wanted to spend the rest of his days at Acomb Court and referred to the carers as his friends. It is not perfect, they could definitely do with more staff but they do their best and their care and kindness helped us through a very sad time.

We picked Acomb Court for its open aspect and roomy-ness. The staff were very friendly , respectful and my father felt comfortable and "at home" when he came for his initial visit. Nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely use this facility again.

Kinga KowaliczekJob Title:General Site Manager

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Kind care, for me, is person-centred care. It is all about the individual and their needs.”

Kinga has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people during her 9 years in care work. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.

Having started as Home Manager at Greenways Court in October 2020, Kinga was the perfect candidate as she closely shares HC-One’s vision aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident and has been a deputy Manager at HC-One for 3 years.

Kinga also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Acomb Court.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Kinga remarked:

“Spending time with Residents and listening to their life stories. Talking about photographs and memories Residents have in their rooms.”

“I enjoy supporting and developing my staff in any areas they wish to expand their knowledge, seeing the positive outcome of it makes me happy.”

Outside of work, Kinga enjoys many activities and hobbies, especially spending time with her family and travelling.
