Lovely care home, everyone from the manager to housekeeping is very caring and helpful. My mother has been here for three months and is very happy and settled. She enjoys the food and the company.

This place is the finest and cleanest I've been in and I have been in a lot over the years. This is not any lie it's the truth. I take my hat off to all who look after us all the time.

The minute you walk in the door it feels warm and welcoming. The staff are lovely and treat Mum with care and dignity. Mum loves the food which is always a good thing as she can be fussy, we can rest knowing Mum is well cared for and happy.

My first impression before Mum moved in was excellent and nine months later, nothing has changed our regard to all concerned.

I feel that my sister is very well cared for and that the staff are all caring. The home is always very clean and tidy. A member of staff talked to a resident to point out that fudge in her room was out of date, the resident said she would keep them to feed the birds and the member of staff very politely suggested she would put them out for the birds. (Very well handled).

Food and drink - cannot comment on this as I don't see the food, and drink selection is good value for money, not private funded.

The staff are helpful and responsive to enquiries. The staff know my sister well and aim to meet her needs as best they can. Support from the designated GP is very good. The admin team are helpful and approachable.

All of the staff are friendly and helpful. Questions are answered courteously. Written information (eg newsletters) is sometimes misleading and contradictory.

Staff good with welcoming and considerate staff who work hard but sometimes don't have time to chat to residents who would appreciate it. Some areas eg the top floor lounge is rather shabby and would benefit from refurbishment. Good news about the new well-being because more activities are needed.

Having visited my father for the last year in Acomb Court, the facilities and staff have all been of the highest standard and despite part of the last period being under the strain of covid, all assistance to help and assist both my father and myself as a visitor has always been afforded.

Staff have always done all they can to make the stay of their clients as comfortable as possible. Residents' meetings ensure that opinions are heard and acted upon so far as is possible when catering for all. It seems however that the overseeing of staff by their administration may not be all that it should be or why should they arrange to leave and work elsewhere?

When we were looking for somewhere for my mother to go to recover from a broken hip some 3 years ago, both my brother and daughter visited several homes including Acomb Court. We all thought that Acomb Court didn't feel right and smelt of urine, Mother ended up in another home. However when I was sent to Acomb Court from hospital it felt totally different, likewise did my daughter. I have to say I couldn't fault the place or any of the staff - they all did anything and everything I asked for. I was most comfortable and almost like a 5-star hotel. When my time comes to reside there permanently I would have no problem. I have spoken to several friends about Acomb Court and recently learned a friend's sister is coming there tomorrow. I hope she will be as happy at Acomb Court as I was. Thank you.

I have found the care staff ready to do their level best on any occasion. My brother enjoyed being resident in Acomb Court for a few years but had to move recently to another care home because of Dementia. Sometimes there could be more staff on the level he lived, but at all times he was treated with respect and courtesy. The nurses worked so hard to meet everyone's expectations, and with a smile on their face!

My mother was admitted in 2015 when the home was under another care provider. Since HC-One took over I feel there has been a decrease in the standard of the home. The staff on the first floor have all been excellent over the 6 years but it is very apparent that they are always grossly understaffed. The general maintenance of rooms, buildings, and gardens is now poor and places look quite shabby and rundown.

My mum has been in Acomb Court for at least 8 years (1st floor). Although some staff come and go the core carers and nurses are wonderful. Always cheerful and smiling, so patient with residents, and very hardworking. We have seen many, many managers and hope the new one is an improvement and stays. My mum is happy and likes the staff, food, and drinks. It is absolutely amazing that even though she is bed-bound she only rarely gets a tiny skin break or soreness which is immediately spotted and treated. Social interaction other than carers and nurses is lacking for bed-bound residents.

From the moment we arrived to visit my Aunty we were made to feel welcome. The protocol regarding testing was excellent, carried out by Administration assistant who also made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. Whilst seeing my Aunt the atmosphere was one of joy given it was her birthday and staff visited her frequently, providing gifts and a cake. The care home staff are superb as is the overall impression of the whole facility. My Aunt is very happy with her level of care and the warmth of the staff.
