Very impressed with the kind welcome from the manager and staff. Finding some carers whom we know when they worked elsewhere beforehand made us feel at home very quickly. The building and grounds are well designed and kept in good order. The staff of all lands and land, helpful and friendly. The food
is varied and very good. The nursing care needed is expertly done. The staff work hard. Sometimes attention to needs seems slow because of timing or crises and needs of others. My wife is in bed most of the time and has liquid food and medicine via a peg tube.

There is a nice atmosphere in Acomb Court and I always get a friendly welcome from staff when I visit. The staff on my mother's floor are very caring and things seem a lot more settled which could be due to the new manager.

Some excellent carers who came and work hard, along with some who don't show it. Overworked and lack of staff leads to some people being unhappy. Carers and patients/residents. Apparent lack of training in certain key areas e.g. illnesses, e.g. Parkinsons is not helpful and turnover of staff is a concern.

My father has been a resident for almost five months and has come to accept the change. The staff are friendly and caring and respond to queries and requests promptly. We can now relax knowing he is safe and so well cared for.

My experience of Acomb Court has been most positive. The admin, carers and cleaning staff are patient under the most trying of circumstances.
They are very hardworking and welcome visits from the family of residents. Activities programme is admirable being the responsibility of one staff member who
has other duties. My unreserved rate of confidence is due to the fact I have been a resident since October 2018 and the care I received gave me a second chance at life.

Acomb Court is spacious, light and airy and very clean. First impression is wow! The staff are second to none, directed by a first-class manager who is caring, friendly and corridor friendly which is so important when visiting, especially with relatives and new faces. There is a calmness about the place.
Carers and staff are very friendly and jolly. Nothing is a problem and anything I have asked for, been concerned about, has been dealt with immediately and with kindness.
The meals on menu are varied and catered for special diet requirements. All in all - five stars.

My mother has been a resident at Acomb Court for over 5 years and in that time, I have never had any concerns regarding her care. She appeared to be happy and content from the beginning of her stay in the home. The staff are very helpful and regularly keep me up to date with my mother's condition. They
are also friendly, patient and cheerful when I visit with my father and we both agree that they are a credit to the company. The home has always been clean and tidy with usually welcoming fresh flowers which my mother always had in her own home.

The reception at Acomb Court is pleasant and inviting. The rooms are nicely decorated and there is never an unpleasant smell, so often the case in other care homes.
The staff are friendly and treat my mother as if she were their own.
Meals are good and varied. Always cake, scone or biscuits with a
cup of tea.

My Dad came into Acomb Court after a spell in hospital left him unable to cope at home.
The environment, his room and the facilities are all of a high standard and the home is very welcoming.
I have found all the staff to be helpful and they have made a real effort to help him settle in.
They communicate
well with the family.
As a result, Dad has settled in very well and the family is very happy with the care he receives.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care, for me, is person-centred care. It is all about the individual and their needs.”


Kinga has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people during her 9 years in care work. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having started as Home Manager at Greenways Court in October 2020, Kinga was the perfect candidate as she closely shares HC-One’s vision aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident and has been a deputy Manager at HC-One for 3 years.


Kinga also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Acomb Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Kinga remarked:


“Spending time with Residents and listening to their life stories. Talking about photographs and memories Residents have in their rooms.”


“I enjoy supporting and developing my staff in any areas they wish to expand their knowledge, seeing the positive outcome of it makes me happy.”


Outside of work, Kinga enjoys many activities and hobbies, especially spending time with her family and travelling.
