My husband, Paul, has been in Awel y Mor for almost 10 yrs and has no capacity & a GCS of 3. However he receives excellent care from the staff. I cannot comment on food or activities as he cannot eat or take part.
However, I think the rooms could do with an upgrade.

I would like to say how happy we were with the care of my father in law whilst at awel y mor, all of the staff were amazing from a lovely greeting at the door to giving us regularly updates, the staff regularly checked if he needed anything even if it was just to reposition pillows anything to make
him comfortable, they regularly spent time with him even if it was just a chat to lift his spirits, nothing was ever a problem big or small he had a great relationship with everyone even though he was there a short time, at dinner time he looked forward to choosing one of many meals on the menu and there was always a good variety of foods, I would highly recommend this home as it felt very homely and also the well kept garden was an added extra which my father in law loved to look at during his last weeks of life.

After a poor experience elsewhere, The nurse in charge of the first floor was very knowledgeable about manual bowel programs for spinal injury patients and made me feel very comfortable being in her care. I would gladly come back.

Wow! What an amazing, homely atmosphere, very high standard of cleanliness, residents were all treated like family. Didn't feel like a care home, felt like a family home, just bigger. Would highly recommend to anyone who has to place family/friends in this setting, who has to make this decision.
Staff treat residents with kindness, respect and dignity, very impressed.

My experience when visiting the home has always been a very positive one. The staff are always very friendly and sociable. I've always felt a good vibe from all members of staff. My father was the first person whom I visited at this home, and he sadly passed away there. I now visit a very good
friend of mine there, and I can see how much he has improved since being there. The home is always immaculate and comfortable. My friend always tells me how he loves the food and is happy there.

I visit one of your residents most weeks and have always felt welcome and thoroughly enjoy the refreshments provided!
I have experience of visiting other people in nursing and residential homes and without doubt, Barchester Awel-Y-Mor Care Home is, by far, the best. The indoor and outdoor
facilities are most impressive with the gym and physio provisions are, in my opinion, beneficial to the health and well-being (both physical and mental) of residents. I'm also impressed by the variety of activities provided.

My mother has been in this care home since June 2021. The staff are very kind to her and treat her with respect and dignity. Due to the fact that my mother is almost bedbound and does not like being hoisted and put into a wheelchair as she finds the process painful. Consequently, she does not
participate in the in-house activities. The room is light and well-furnished and generally kept clean. The quality of the food that my mother (vegetarian) eats in her room is, in my opinion, poor. Her daily menu consists of breakfast - tea and toast, lunch - a baked potato with a filling and supper - a sandwich. I did, on one occasion, take the baked potato lunch my mother had been served back to reception as it looked as if it was two days old. There is a distinct lack of variety in her diet and little or no fresh fruit.

A very friendly and well-run care centre. The activities are outstanding and communication is really good. My mum has been here for a long time and I don't hesitate to recommend Barchester Awel-Y-Mor Care Home to anyone who wants to be a resident.

The management of the home is reflected in the high standard of individual nursing care provided. The carers go the extra mile to ensure that patient's needs are met. Nurses and carers are supported by an effective physical therapy dept. The home is maintained to a very high standard, this enhances
the patient's comfort. Many varied activities are offered in an inclusive manner to help stimulate and encourage patents. The dietary needs are met with flexibility and patience. The variety of foods offered provides for all tasks. This a happy ship.
