My Grampy is currently staying at this nursing home and I can't praise the staff enough. The level of care he's receiving is truly 5-star. Every member of the team has been kind, attentive, and professional, and it gives our family great peace of mind knowing he's in such good hands.
The food is
excellent, his clothes are always washed and well looked after, and every little detail of his care has been handled so thoughtfully. It's clear the staff genuinely care about the residents and go above and beyond every day.
I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone looking for a safe, caring, and supportive place for their loved ones. Thank you to all the amazing staff for the wonderful work you do.

My mother went into Glan yr Afon just over 4 years ago , and the staff have done wonders to turn her life around from sleeping all day in her home, in her pyjamas all day everyday for a few years, then going into Glan yr afon she has a new lease of life , she gets up and gets dressed everyday ,
unless she has a bad day , but gets involved with things that are going on such as events and helps with making decorations for special days , and her room is decorated to make her feel its home from home .
A big thank you to all the staff and Alex the manager who I have had many a chat with him about our Mother and he goes above and beyond making her stay with them a pleasure .

My Mam was a resident at Glan for 3 years and passed away in January 2026. During her last weeks the care she received was brilliant by all members of staff. There did seem to less staff than usual but it didn't much difference to the care Mam had, although I was there mostly all day. On the day the
staff couldn't have been any nicer and took care to spend time with Mam and myself before the arrival of other members of my family. Can't thank them enough for that.

Glan yr Avon really came into their own when end of life care was needed.
Respectful to those in care and the friends and family supporting them
Flexible, caring, calm, knowledgable - all with an appropriate smile and a genuine desire to do their best for everyone.
A nursing team second to
none ; a delightful team who were always available to discuss care at anytime of day or night
A care team lead by some really experienced ladies who know how to keep people comfortable and safe

My mother passed away in Glen-yr-afon, having spent the last 111/2 months there. It was a very difficult decision for me to take, it broke my heart. I was so scared. Once my mother was in the home all those fears went, as throughout her stay she was treated with absolute dignity and respect. I
was always updated with everything. Once again, I would like to thank all the members of staff for everything they all did for mum. I couldn't of asked for a more caring environment for her.

My brother is a client/resident of Glan-yr-Afon care home and since he's been there hes received nothing but the highest level of care from all of the staff that work there i can't thank them enough.
Being from a medical background with the ambulance service I've visited hundreds if not thousands
of care and nursing homes through my work life ,many I've seen first hand with level of care and compassion towards thier residents has we also had a duty of care towards our patients whilst in our care,ive just got that Glan-yr-Afon care home has got to one of the top care facilities in the country ive had the pleasure of visiting on a professional and civil level and would love to thank Alex and his staff for continuing professional care of my brother thank you.

My Dad has been a resident of Glan since February.
He had a stroke last October until he went in in feb he was in hospital, to be honest we thought as a family he wouldn't last long. The care and attention he has had has been amazing he's very settled and his condition has improved no end. I can
not recommend this home enough it's like 1 big family.
I would just like to say a very big thank you to everyone who works tirelessly for every resident and their families x

Our mum was transferred to Glan yr Afon from her old residential home as it was decided she required nursing care.
We were very happy when a bed became available as I had only ever had positive feedback about Glan Yr Afon. Our mother was happy and content and wasn't upset by the move.
We
sadly lost mum in March and we cannot thank the manager and the staff enough. Mum was always treated with dignity and respect and was always well presented and cared for. The staff showed us compassion during her final days and were very supportive to us as a family.
Our Father moved into the care home in December for a period of respite care however he decided he wanted to stay permanently. He now lives at the home receiving residential care.
We can not thank Glan yr Afon enough for all their hard work and the excellent care they give. I must give a shout out to the kitchen staff for the lovely food they cook, the social team who work so hard and the staff who work so hard in the laundry.

I was worried how mum would like being in a care home, I needn't have been as she absolutely loves it.
On one of my visits I asked her how she felt about being there, did she want to go home or was she happy there? Her response was "This is my home now! I don't want to leave here!"
The staff are
all very pleasant and nothing seems to much for them.

Glan Yr Afon is a lovely care home. My mother was a resident there for 4 years and very well cared for. The staff were attentive to her needs and always polite and friendly.
I would recommend Glan Yr Afon to anyone as it was a pleasure to visit.

Our family is incredibly grateful for the care and compassion shown to our mum during her final days at Glan-yr-Afon. The staff were not only professional but also genuinely kind, treating Mum with dignity and warmth. They supported us as a family too, always ready with comforting words and
reassurance. We couldn't have asked for a more caring environment for such a difficult time.

My mother died in Glan yr Afon in November 2024 having spent the last 8 months of her life there. It was a difficult decision for me to arrange for her to go into a care/nursing home setting because you always fear that she might not receive the standard of care that she deserved. My fears were
unfounded because throughout her stay she was handled with great professionalism and with dignity and respect. Many thanks to all the staff there.

My mother became a resident at Glan in early October, from the first meeting we had with the staff it was a very pleasing experience, very gentle conversation with Mam very patient and kind. I was kept informed every step of the way on the transfer from the hospital to Glan, Mam settled in quite
well and is happy. The home is clean and well presented and the staff are very helpful kind and patient. I am so pleased that I chose Glan-y-Afon as the staff has made the transition stress-free for me. I would just like to say a big thank you to the staff.

We as a family cannot thank the manager and his wonderful staff for the care, support and kindness our mother received during her time with them. Everyone made her feel so welcome when she first arrived, engaging her in a number of activities and events they held and we as a family felt part of the
Glan family during the year she spent with you.
Sadly in January 2024, she was diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, which she finally succumbed to in April of this year. However, the care, support and compassion she was shown during this period was second to none and we as a family shall always be eternally grateful to all the staff there.
One of her wishes was to receive her end-of-life care in Glan-yr-Afon, which was undertaken with such dignity and care by the staff so her final days were peaceful and a source of great comfort to the family. We shall be eternally grateful to everyone at Glan-yr-Afon for the care, compassion and support they gave to our mother during her final year.

My mother was cared for at Glan-Yr-Afon from June 2022 until she passed away in July 2024. The care and respect she received from every individual each day was second to none. My mother was really happy there which was a great comfort to me. I cannot fault the staff, who worked extremely hard to
make sure Mam was well cared for and all her health needs were met. I would highly recommend Glan-Yr-Afon to anyone. I appreciate everything they did for my mother during her time there.

I cannot thank the Glan family enough for all the care they delivered to my mom. She was looked after with such dedication and compassion.
The home is welcoming, friendly and maintains a person’s individuality. All staff groups - carers, nurses, cleaners, management and caterers showed empathy and
consideration in abundance.
Exceptional care by exceptional people.

My Mother, who was a very private and independent woman, realized on September 22 that she needed full-time care, as she was continually falling. She was 91 at the time. We were lucky enough to get a place in Glan Yr Afon care home, and within two weeks we, and she, knew it was the right decision.
The staff was marvelous. She could be very rude, but the staff were so kind and understanding that she loved being there.
However, in early February 24, (17 months after going into the home), she suffered an inoperable condition and was transferred to the hospital. She knew that she was dying, and started palliative care there, but all the time, she wanted to go back to Glan Yr Afon to die, because she said that she loved it there and had so many friends among the staff. She was so happy to go back, even though she passed away a couple of days later. I (and all the family) cannot speak highly enough of the home... they gave her 17 additional enjoyable months of life!

Five stars would never be enough to rate the care and compassion given to my father and my family, especially in the last few weeks of his life at Glan-yr-Afon care home. Management and staff were outstanding, nothing was too much. I speak on behalf of my dad, myself and my family when I say we
couldn't have got through it without this special team. The care and dignity they gave him was unbelievable and so special. I couldn't thank everyone enough.

Our mam was transferred here as she needed more care than the old home could give. She was always immaculately dressed and taken care of. The staff are so helpful and friendly. It really had a family home feeling. It was a real pleasure to visit. Always arranging family days of fun and
entertainment. Amazing care home and would highly recommend to any person who needed care for a family member. Thank you for loving Mam as much as we did.
