View Full Details of Gowrie House Care HomeMum moved into Gowrie House in January this year. She settled immediately saying she was going to like it on the first day. All the staff are very friendly and compassionate towards her needs and feelings. We have personalised her room which she feels at home with. Food is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff at any time. The activities team are amazing and organise fun filled days and trips for the residents. Mum has said she is living her best life! She is thriving in this lovely home. For myself and my sister and our families this is a huge relief and weight off our shoulders knowing that mums needs are being met and that she is safe and looked after, but more importantly, she is happy.
My mum has settled well feels safe and well cared for.she hs great fondness for staf who have worked hard getting to know her and understand her care needs and emotional needs.Staff and management are always willing to help with any concerns raised. Care staff and activity staff have built her confidence with her mobility. she trust them and enjoys activities especially 1 to 1 and increasingly group activities. This has allowed us to be mother and daughter again and enjoy quality time, and she has always stories to tell of her day. I would happily recommend Gowrie House to other families. They have looked after both my parents.
I enjoy living here and I enjoy attending the activities. I get along very well with everyone that works here and I can have a great laugh. I get along with the other people that stay here too. I feel very welcome and I get fussed over!
A fantastic experience that made my friend very happy was the activity girl going around the rooms with a tea trolley and the ice-cream tune blaring, my friend says that the ice-cream van, go quickly, get a cone. There was ice cream, cones, sprinkles and a lot of genuine care went into surprising the residents, it's one of my friends and myselfs best memory, and how important it is to maintain familiarity and normality. All the staff from the top throughout every valued staff member are respectful and cares.
I have been a resident for 3/5 years. Overall most of the staff are lovely, very caring and kind. I was in a bad place mentally when I came and the staff took me under their wing and pulled me out. I have lost most of my family and the staff fill that empty space. When I was really ill and close to death, I was asked where I wanted my last days - another care home or here. I signed for here without a second thought. As I have said before the staff fill the place of my family. People come, even during their break time to spend time with me. I do not want to be here but if have to, better here than elsewhere. Some activities are planned to keep our mind occupied.
Well, we've only just arrived here. My husband is settling in nicely after enduring 14 weeks in hospital. I cannot praise the welcome and daily care he is receiving highly enough. From the manager to the nurses, day/night staff to housekeeping who are all caring and professional - over and above. Nothing is too much trouble. Gowrie is clean, well organised and homely. We are very lucky to have found yous'.
From Day one my gran has been made to feel so welcome at Gowrie. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We are kept in the loop with everything for our granny. Special mention to one lady, you are so kind and patient with her, thank you for all you do.
My mum has now been living in Gowrie House for just under 2 years. The care continues to be consistently excellent, with staff going above and beyond. Mum is cared for with genuine respect and affection, which is so important for her. The staff understand and responds to her needs. The living environment is lovely - the lounge in her unit has just been revamped to a high standard, and all the lounges are lovely. Meals are excellent, with menu changes. Diabetes is very well controlled and well catered for. Mum even had a special birthday cake made for her. Activities are excellent. We recently enjoyed a supported trip to the pantomime and have arranged a day trip to a marina (specific to mum) in the mobility car for next week. Staff and management continue to support family and friends throughout our difficult journey. I am grateful to them and highly recommend Gowrie House to anyone looking for a safe and caring home where their loved one will thrive.
My wife was in Gowrie House 26th June until she died on 26th August. The end-of-life nursing and care that attended, supported and cared for my wife was of the highest. On each and every one of my visits, I was impressed and reassured as staff nursed and cared as if my wife was one of their own family. For myself and others of our family, Gowrie House was simply the best with end-of-life.
I would like to praise the staff and management team for their compassion and professionalism whilst providing care to my late auntie. The team continue to provide excellent care to my uncle, this is shown in many ways through the high standard of care and understanding of individual needs. I would like to emphasise no matter the need or ask of the individual the team try their best to make it happen.
My sister has been in Gowrie House for over three years and receives first-class care, and communication from staff is excellent. There are plenty of activities and always something new planned. The staff are very understanding and compassionate. We are delighted with Gowrie House and highly recommend it.
The care that Mum receives is excellent. I would like to mention two particular members of staff. Mum is always well dressed when I visit her and looks really well. Her room is much nicer now that it has been refurbished. The meals that I have seen look delicious. The whole building is looking brighter and cleaner. The staff are helpful and caring. Huge improvements have been made, and it has not gone unnoticed. The manager is helpful and sorts out any concerns quickly.
Our close friend has been a resident here for over 18 months now. In all of that time, I can find only good things to say regarding the levels of care that she receives. She is always well-presented, and her personal care is well taken care of. As the time she has been here has passed, she has been encouraged to take part in all activities suitable for her, which she now participates in and enjoys greatly. She loves getting her hair done and the pamper days where she has her nails done and hands massaged. Her room is kept clean, as are all areas within the home. She gets on well with all members of staff. The carers and nurses are all willing to spend time with her on a one-to-one basis if required, and she enjoys these moments hugely. A huge thanks to everyone there for doing a fantastic job.
I have no complaints or points to raise with regard to my mother's care. She is happy, healthy and well cared for. She makes comments to me when I tell her to speak to a nurse or carer about something - “Oh they’re run off their feet, they’re busy folk, but they are always happy to help when they can” - I think that says it all. Cleanliness is very good. Just items going missing which I know happens in all care homes, and nothing that I’m concerned about.
I am very grateful for the end-of-life care at Gowrie House, which supported my father, and his family, through the hardest of times. The staff were exceptional as they cared for Dad and for his visitors, guiding us gently and giving us confidence that everything that could be done was being done. I can’t deny that there were ups and downs during his residency, but at the most difficult time for us, many of the staff were outstanding. For anyone with a friend or relative at Gowrie, I would recommend getting to know the staff as early as possible to build up a relationship with them. You will find they are good people who want to know about the person they are looking after, and some will develop a valuable rapport with your loved one. And in the end, they all shared our grief.
My Dad has been in Gowrie House for 9 months now and is very settled. From the moment I step through the door I am greeted and chatted to and this follows through to the carers, nurses, chef, maintenance person, cleaners etc etc. Most staff within the home know my Dad by name and always have a good word to say about him. Dad has great relationships with all the staff in Gowrie House and enjoys sitting own at meal times for chats and good food with the other residents. We love sitting in the garden which has loads of beautiful flowers. If I have any concerns I am able to talk to a member of staff to get my concerns across and they have always come back to me with an answer. I feel very grateful to know that my Dad has great care 24/7 and this gives me great peace of mind. Thanks to every member of staff in Gowrie.
My husband has now been in a year and must say I have not had one complaint and must congratulate all staff on receiving the high marks from the recent inspection. They all include you in their activities and celebrations which myself and family have attended with gusto.
Very happy with the care Dad receives. He's happy and content. Dad likes his food and there's certainly plenty on offer! All staff, from reception to caring staff to management, all welcome you with a smile and a chat. The activities team do an excellent job. The home has a nice friendly feel to it and would recommend it to anybody looking for a care home for their loved one.
Delighted to have found such a lovely nursing home for my elderly and frail mum! She had a bad fall at home, resulting in a 12-week hospital stay and then began the process of visiting nursing homes (when it became apparent that she could never return home). From the first minute I visited Gowrie House, I felt a very welcoming atmosphere with warm greetings from all staff and residents! When I left thirty minutes later, I knew that this was my preferred choice for Mum and, kindly, the manager ensured a bed was available on her discharge, which was much appreciated! Mum has now been a resident for seven weeks and although she is still adjusting to her new environment, myself and family are very happy with the care Mum is receiving and the excellent home-cooked food! All the staff are very pleasant, kind and patient and we are extremely grateful for their kindness in caring for Mum. We look forward to the summer months when we can all enjoy the beautiful sunny gardens.
My mum has now been in Gowrie House Care Home since September 2019. You can see that the whole team genuinely care for her and this provides great comfort to myself and all the family. The care of my mother in August 2022 when she had a stroke was beyond the call of duty. My mum is very happy, safe and settled. All of the staff are amazing, everyone speaks to me and my mum. All staff and management do an excellent job.
