View Full Details of Ailsa Craig Care HomeThe level of care provided to my Dad was outstanding, compassionate , efficient and nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff were faultless and always cheery in their attitude including a ready willingness to help and a cup of tea or a piece of cake was always on offer. The level of gratitude our family feel is hard to put into words but it helped us through some difficult days.
Mum has been in Alisa Craig for a few months now. She seems settled and happy. The staff have been responsive to any questions we have had. Mums care and wellbeing needs seem well cater for and as a family we feel we have peace of mind.
How was I received on arrival- just class. Some staff better than others, i.e. very varied and not consistent on a day-to-day basis. Entertainment organised first-class. The notice boards too high for disabled people in wheelchairs. Salt, pepper, sugar, condiments etc to get more variety, glasses and cutlery. Food quantities and selection all over the place, i.e. more sausages for 15 people at breakfast time, rolls i.e may be only between 1-4 (max). Useful for my own use. Yes, I would stay here again.
Who says age should slow you down? Certainly not my 98-year-old aunt Isa Thanks to Ailsa Craig who took her on a a joyful spin on a tricycle and made her 98th birthday unforgettable. From the moment she climbed aboard, it was clear from her beautiful pictures this wasn't just a ride - it was an event. With the breeze in her hair and a mischievous twinkle in her eye, she was pedalled through the streets of Glasgow, waving to passersby like royalty on parade. The tricycle looked stable, comfortable, and surprisingly stylish - a perfect fit for a sprightly nonagenarian with flair. She cruised around the city, laughter echoing off the buildings reminiscing of days gone by and proving that joy knows no age limit. Final verdict: 10 out of 10 Highly recommend for anyone aged 8 or 98. Fun, freedom, and a fresh reminder that life's little thrills are always within reach - one pedal at a time. The family really appreciate the team at Alisa Craig for giving Isa this wonderful opportunity.
We are happy with the care my mother receives from the staff at Ailsa Craig. Overall my mother seems happy. The staff are caring and treat my mother with dignity and respect. The team of staff are key to this nursing home being good.
My mother was a resident at Ailsa Craig in Millport House from January 2023 until she passed away in April 2025. Initially we were concerned about her being placed there by social services because it was so far from her home but it turned out to be the best possible decision. The home was fantastic and my mum received the best possible care. Although I live 400 miles away and could only manage to visit on a monthly basis the home kept me up-to-date with everything that was happening. The staff were all great and nothing ever seemed too much for them. Every time we visited we were amazed at the quality and quantity of the food provided and the range of activities that were put on for the residents, from live singers to craft activities to visits from reindeer at Christmas. They also have an optician who visits the home and a hairdresser and beautician who visit regularly. I can honestly say that if I ever need to go into a care home I would be very happy to end up in Ailsa Craig!
The staff are very responsive and caring to residents, particularly the activities staff who are very proactive in encouraging participation and variety of events and activities. The general approach is centred on the residents and their health and comfort
Absolute disgrace my mother was put in for intermediate care after leaving hospital. we were told so many contradictory things regarding her health. Her leg became swollen we were told she was put on anti biotics. She fell out of bed the doc was called and said her injuries were superficial. She could walk with a zimmer but then became immobile. Told her blood sugars were at 6 she was bluelighted from there today in the ambulance. Se were told by the paramedics that they are called out on a regular basis also her blood sugars are at 42 she has type2 diabetes I alerted the staff to how bad she looked on Tuesday and how ill she felt the same inept doctor came out and gave her antibiotics seemingly its a chest infection. Anytime we asked about her personal care which has rapidly went downhill we were told she refused it and it would amount to abuse if forced, hadnt been washed in weeks but all of a sudden when she became ill She was showered. I wouldn't put an animal in here STAY CLEAR
My papa lived at Alisa Craig Care Home for nearly 6 years. The care he was given was second to none. The love and compassion he and we as a family were given will never be forgotten. The staff in all departments are supportive and friendly and make you feel welcome within the home. We cannot thank Millport House enough; they made us feel at ease with our Papa living within the care home. He loved the staff, and they loved him, and that's all we could ask for. They had his best interest at heart, and no words can be given to show how grateful we really are. They are all amazing at what they do and would recommend the home to everyone. Thanks again for everything, yous will never be forgotten.
The care my elderly aunt is receiving at Ailsa Craig is very good. There are many activities organised including exercises to maintain her strength. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The event's organiser is brilliant with a variety of fun activities. In addition, the qualified nurse always updates me on my aunt's medical care. The team as a whole really seem to care about the residents well being. The room has a nice outlook and is of good size but would benefit from some redecoration.
I cannot recommend Ailsa Craig Care Home enough. My mum stayed there from November 2024 to 09/01/2025 when she sadly passed away. All the staff from the deputy manager to the care staff to the domestics were a credit in carrying out their duties. I had no qualms about leaving my mum in their care - the atmosphere was always kind and caring but always professional. The other residents were always settled and happy, a good sign. Other relatives told me the same thing. As a retired nurse of 43 years gave me insight into numerous care homes and this one comes out amongst the top, my mum did admit if she had known about the home she would have moved in earlier!
The carers are excellent. Kind and gentle. Food is excellent and it makes a difference that it is freshly cooked. Husband's room is clean and orderly. Grounds are nice and tidy with pleasant areas for sitting out weather permitting. Nursing staff are pleasant and accessible.
My mum has been a resident of Ailsa Craig for about 2 months now and the difference in her physical and mental health is quite extraordinary. Moving her to Glasgow from Largs, after 4 months of rehab post a broken arm, was incredibly stressful and I can't believe how lucky I was to find Ailsa Craig and be guided through the process by the wonderful management team. The home is set in beautiful, quiet gardens and the rooms and communal areas are really lovely - bright, clean and fresh. But it's the staff that make this place so special - from the supervisors to the nurses, carers and assistants, everyone is exceptional and brilliant at their job. The atmosphere is upbeat and vibrant and I'm always blown away by the welcome. Whoever's been working with Mum that day is always keen to update me on how she's doing and the level of heartfelt care is absolutely superb. My mum is settled and happy and I would recommend Ailsa Craig wholeheartedly and give it way more than 5 stars if I could!
I have been highly impressed by the care my mum has received since arriving at Ailsa Craig last year. The staff were very quick to assess her needs and everything was put in place. They also phone me to update me on my mum and are always available to discuss her well-being. The staff are always welcoming when I visit. When my mum was ill last week, the staff were very quick to assess her and call a doctor, who arrived promptly. I really like the notice board in the corridor which shows activities and visits to the care home, eg reindeer at Christmas, therapeutic visits and ongoing activities. All staff know who my mum is and can tell me something about her. They treat her with dignity and respect. She is always pleased to see them.
I'm always relieved that my mum is well taken care of, nothing is too much trouble for management or staff. My family and myself are always made to feel welcome, never feel in the way. I always feel very confident about her care.
I have found all staff welcoming and professional when dealing with any questions or queries I may have. The care they give my mum is in line with health and social care standards, they are kind and thoughtful in their care for her. She loves going out on the activities when they are offered. (Could do with more of these)
My brother-in-law is very happy at Ailsa Craig. It is a lovely building with a homely atmosphere. Every time I visit the staff are always cheerful, efficient, courteous and very helpful. The activities are great at the care home, but much more important is the care given and the resources available to assist in that care which really is excellent for these more important aspects. I am very happy with the care he is receiving.
My neighbour has been taken into Ailsa Craig Care Home and has settled in great. It is a beautiful home and the staff and management are fantastic and very friendly. I would recommend this home to friends and family.
I am so happy Ailsa Craig accepted my wife into their care. All management and staff are fantastic as are the facilities and lovely gardens. The home is very well run and kept spotless. Plenty of activities which my wife really enjoys. All in all it's a lovely care home. Highly recommend it.
My Mum has been at Ailsa Craig for 16 months now and my family and I are completely delighted with her care. Ailsa Craig presents the complete package from stimulating activities to excellent housekeeping. The nursing care is of a very high standard and I have full confidence that my Mum's needs are not only being met but exceeded. My Mum is very happy and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. In conclusion, my siblings and I are delighted with Mum's care and I would be happy to recommend Ailsa Craig to anyone. Our sincere thanks to all who make this possible.
