While the carers themselves have been friendly, kind, and hard-working, my main concern is with the senior staff, including some of the nursing team. Unfortunately, I have found them to be unfriendly, unapproachable, and lacking empathy when dealing with both residents and family members. The eye
rolling and dirty looks when we arrived to visit did not go unnoticed.
There is a noticeable difference between the warmth of the care staff and the attitude of those in more senior roles, which makes communication difficult and leaves families feeling dismissed rather than supported.
Some members of staff need to be aware that compassionate communication is essential in a care environment.

Relative In the home for 3 Weeks, during this time they have had 2 falls, 3 visits to A&E, been left sitting out in the cold on a winter afternoon, numerous incidents of being inadequately supervised.
Unfortunately and contrary to what they tell you in regards to having vast experience with
dementia residents etc. I find the care provided has been completely unsatisfactory in almost all respects, family visits in the late afternoon or early evening frowned upon whilst at admission they said they didn't have any restrictions on family visits. During sundowning episodes in particular they were unable and unwilling to find some coping measures.
Something needs to looked at in regards to how some residents are being looked after as I believe for some their care needs are not being fulfilled correctly or to an acceptable standard.
When I went to clear out his room, all his clothes and possessions were in just chucked into 2 black bin liners appalling behavior

Recently moved our loved one out after 3 years to a nearby nursing home.
Individually staff are doing their best but the culture is poor - little to no stimulation and staff run off their feet. Feels like the focus is on ‘the business’ and not the residents.
In the new home, my loved one has
been referred to external support services including a dentist and optician - this never happened in Owen Mor and they have benefited from weekly trips to shops/church/tea dances and taken part in daily activities and lovely family celebrations including music/tea parties/sensory actives/pet therapy. Overall they have a much better quality of life.

I find management at Owen More excellent and nursing staff. I find staffing of carers very limited, and not enough continuity of care. Too much movement of staff between units. Young carers too young and inexperienced so they don't stay.

I find the staff and management very professional and friendly. The care given to my mum is outstanding. I am kept informed if there are any issues or concerns regarding my mum. My mum has settled in well and she also thinks highly of the staff and the care given. I would highly recommend the care
home to anyone!

Dad was very unwell when he came to Owen Mor Care Centre. All of dads needs are met 100%. He has been here a year now and they have Dad eating so well and Dad is so well looked after. He has put on weight and is more responsive. His room is like it was at home. All the staff are really approachable
and helpful
