View Full Details of Barchester Lakeside ManorWe looked at homes for my husband in Feb 2025. Lakeside we found to be the most friendly, inclusive and welcoming from the moment we walked in and still find this so, from the admin and reception staff to carers, nurses & hospitality and activities staff. We take our young grandchildren in frequently and staff & residents are welcoming and kind to them. The meals & snacks provided always look and taste very good and hospitality staff so helpful. The biggest critism I have is that despite all my husbands clothes being labelled with his name he is often wearing clothes that are not his. It would also be helpful if any changes were communicated to relatives and reasons such as for moving residents out of the reception areas. Overall very happy
My mother has been a resident for a couple of months and she has settled really well and appears to be happy. All the staff are very kind and nothing is too much trouble. The new manager
I love my peaceful days now. The staff are the best of people. They always smile. I love my life and its because of the home.
I love this home. I have lots of people who care about me. We have outings to the sea and I went for coffee yesterday. Staff are kind.
My mother receives exceptional care from Barchester Lakeside Manor and she is very happy in her new "home".
Friendly staff, especially the regulars on floor two. Supportive and helpful and a laugh.
My mum has been at Lakeside since 2023, naturally, it was the next necessary step for my mum's safety and well-being, thank goodness we were offered a place, it was life-changing for all of us! My mum is always clean, well-presented, in her own clothes, well fed and cared for. Regular phone calls with updates on health, activities and any questions. My dad visits almost daily and is always treated with kindness and respect, never being made to feel in the way. The Registered Manager is so professional, warm-hearted, friendly and caring individual, she immediately put us at ease and really cared about our family situation. She was so compassionate when discussing how exhausting it had been having her at home 24/7 even though she had properly heard it so many times! The staff are extremely well trained, offer person-centred care and are always supportive, our family will never be able to thank them enough.
Mum has only been a resident since April 2024 but within a couple of weeks, every member of staff knew her name and knew my name too. Everyone is very attentive and welcoming. Any issues are immediately resolved.
The lady staying here is very happy and loves it here. I visit every day and everything here is excellent. The activities here are also excellent but I guess you can never have too many. We (friends/relatives) feel very assured that the lady is safe and well cared for in such a lovely place. Like a posh hotel.
Three members of staff, in particular, are friendly, professional, caring and loving to residents. Very reassuring to me. Things do change a bit when the three aren't on the floor.
Overall, Mum's time at Barchester Lakeside Manor has been a good experience. It took her a while to settle but we were assured this was all perfectly normal behaviour. The staff have been nothing but patient, caring and very understanding of both Mum and myself as we adjusted to her living at Lakeside. Mum thrives in this environment and the staff clearly love her.
Mum is very well cared for at Barchester Lakeside Manor. The staff are so kind. The facility is bright, clean and welcoming. Mum's clothes are always clean, her hair is washed and sometimes styled. There are daily activities, including live music which Mum loves.
My stepmother had been a resident for sixteen months, during which time she had the best care I could have hoped for. The staff are amazing and the senior manager was ever the caring professional when my stepmother passed away unexpectedly one morning. In the sad event that anyone needs to find a care home placement, if they can be accommodated at Barchester Lakeside Manor they will be in good hands.
Very good, no problems.
All the staff are friendly, caring and always helpful. There is always something for the residents to do and enjoy. There seems to be a lot of thought that goes into the activities. I like the fact that the staff know all the residents' names and they treat them with respect.
My dad has dementia and moved into Lakeside after a really difficult time. He was confused and upset and struggling to communicate with other residents at his previous home. Within weeks of moving into Lakeside, his confidence started to grow and he started to go to activities again. He is clearly happy at Lakeside and the staff are wonderful with him, both caring for him and trying to find new activities to interest him. They have made him feel happy and comfortable and I am so grateful to them.
Lakeside Manor is very welcoming to all new residents and continues to care for them well. The majority of the staff are excellent. The two ladies who organise the entertainment are very, very good. The first floor looks after the more demanding residents and I feel that the staff at times are pushed to the limit and perhaps more staff are required. The manager of that floor is excellent.
Having had to make the difficult decision to place my husband in care I am so pleased to have chosen Barchester Lakeside Manor. I could not wish for better care for him. The staff take time to get to know the resident and how best to look after them. Always kind and patient. The facilities are light and spacious and daily activities are provided. Both residents and relatives are well supported.
My husband has been a resident in Lakeside Manor for 10 months now and I am delighted with his care there. He is happy and content and loves the staff. The staff work extremely hard but always have time for a smile and fun with residents. The staff always make me feel welcome when I visit and are approachable if I have any concerns or queries and nothing is ever too much trouble.
My father is on the dementia floor and has been a resident since August 2021. I think that the staff are marvellous and deserve a gold medal as some of the residents here are extremely difficult at times, my dad is not one of those but I admire the carers and how they deal with some very difficult situations. I feel that maybe there should be more entertainment for them at times but what entertainment they do have is very good. The staff are lovely and I would think the residents are very happy here.
