View Full Details of Heol Don Care HomeThe care staff and management of the home have been excellent. Our Mum has been treated with dignity and respect and has settled into the home really well. Her room is always spotlessly clean, and she looks clean, happy and well cared for. The meals are always lovely, and she is encouraged to be involved in all the activities. Having a hair salon on site is a real bonus, and knowing that the doctor is visiting on a regular basis gives peace of mind. Being able to be included in activities is great, and knowing we can book a lunch/meal with her is really nice.
My 93 year old cousin has been made very welcome here whilst she recovers from a hip operation. The home was very responsive when we were first in touch, very flexible re admission dates, and spoke with us about how long my cousin will stay. Everyone has been very kind, and my cousin is doing well.
My mum, Margaret, has been staying at Heol Don for convalescent care since 23rd Sept after a 3 week hospital stay for a fractured femur. She wasn't keen on the idea of a care home, but has enjoyed her stay and the staff and other residents have her very welcome. A care package for her return home should be in place soon. This has been so much better for her than having to stay in hospital! ( Only criticism 'No broadband on TV')
I had a total hip replacement in June. Feeling very vulnerable afterwards, I decided to go into the care home for 2 weeks. The stay there helped me to make a really good recovery. I am able to do much more than I thought, thanks to the care I received. Thank you everyone at Heol Don Care Home!
I have enjoyed my time here. Everyone, especially Kym and Ryan, has gone above and beyond in my time here. Food is lovely, plenty of choice.
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by everyone I came in contact with. Help is readily available from anyone member of staff and always with a ready smile. Food is sooo good and very varied. I literally have no complaints about anything. Lots to do, and all are welcome.
From my experience, the home is excellent. I believe you are very fortunate to have such an excellent workforce.
The majority of the people who work here are friendly & understanding. The food is excellent. My room is well-equipped and comfortable. The laundry & cleaning staff are very helpful. The activities are varied - plenty of options available.
Mum has had previous stays for convalescence post surgery and for respite to cover a family holiday, and has always been very happy and well looked after. This time it was an emergency post-surgery for nursing care. Once again, she is happy to be here with staff who know her and go to great lengths to care for her and make her stay as happy as possible. She loves the exercise classes and welcomes the church service on a Sunday.
My father-in-law requires quite a high level of nursing care. This care commitment has increased over the last few years that he's been at this care home. Even though he's high maintenance, he is included in every activity that they offer at the centre. This is so reassuring to know as some of the days I'm sure could appear to him to be long. The activities on offer are varied and I always feel appropriate to all ages and abilities. Indoors or outdoors (whether permitting), the activities vary from hands on to full participation (live entertainment). I'm always pleased to hear about what's on offer that week from the weekly diary he's given at the start of the week.
My mother experienced a number of seizures during a meal time, which is a very busy time. The staff were outstanding. From the house keeping staff to qualified staff members both carers and nurses, they helped with my mother not just with the initial first aid but the whole package of care. She arrived to hospital safely and then after being discharged from the hospital they were very warm with their welcome back. It is so reassuring that there is a high level of professionalism within all members of the staff team at this centre.
Father enjoyed his stay in what he came to speak of as his home. Staff not only cared for him but also treated him as a friend.
I travel from overseas to visit my relative every year. I am always impressed by the facilities and the level of care provided. Despite the long gaps between my visits, the staff remember me by name and are always friendly and helpful. The manager has always provided assistance when asked and facilitated my ongoing communication between my relative and me when I am overseas. Thank you.
Everyone in the home makes it feel like my home. Staff are friendly, always willing to accommodate my needs. The housekeeping team go above and beyond for me. The SHK even does my shopping regularly. Couldn't manage without her.
The staff in the home were both welcoming and positive, more than ready to help in any way and took trouble to accommodate individual likes and preferences, such as when my husband was taken out to the park in the minibus and put next to an open window (he gets travel sick), with classical music playing (which he enjoys). We rang a few times to see how he was getting on and were always given a detailed reply, and were able to speak to him on the phone. I found the in house laundry very good, with careful attention given to clothes requiring a gentle wash, so nothing got mangled or lost in the system. All in all, a positive experience.
I have enjoyed seeing my sister blossom under your care. The activities are varied and she joins in with anticipation. The facilities are always clean, and the staff willing to engage with you. Such a pleasant place to spend time.
Heol Don is a lovely, clean, comfortable home for my Grandmother. Staff are so friendly, and the quality of care is excellent. Very happy knowing she is safe and well there.
Very friendly atmosphere. Excellent staff. Very clean.
My sister was given all the support and love when she first came to live in Heol Don. All the staff are friendly and are happy to adjust to my sister's needs. There are many daily activities to suit all needs and I am able to join here in these activities.
The care home has a friendly atmosphere and I find the staff very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are very pleasant if a little small to be in for such a long time. The only criticism is that food plates can be often left in the room for hours and I understand that it can be lonely in the evening without anyone popping in to chat. However, the staff I have met - nurses, those delivering meals/snacks, laundry etc. are all lovely, helpful and brighten up the day of residents. Having the hairdresser, chiropodist, Dr on hand is very good.
