View Full Details of Thorburn ManorMum moved to Thorburn Manor nursing home in September, and whilst her health was fading, we feel she found a peaceful, welcoming abode there and we are grateful to all the lovely staff for their steadfast support for mum. Thank you so much for your wonderful care and the kindness you have all shown to Mum and to us during her stay.
I have only positive experiences with Thorburn Manor. I am very satisfied with the care and find the staff excellent. It is always kept to a high standard of cleanliness and is beautifully appointed and the gardens are a pleasure to be in and a lovely place for residents in the summer to sit out in such a peaceful setting. I find it nice being a small home and everyone is so friendly.
Staff are excellent and the home is well maintained. Daily activities each morning enjoyed by all. Regular trips also take place but with no pressure to attend. Gardens round the building at Thorburn road are well maintained with lots of seats should you wish to sit outside.
Dad is very well cared for. All the staff are caring and friendly which gives us the comfort that any issues Dad may have are dealt with professionally and compassionately. We get regular feedback and constructive interaction relating to Dad's care. Being a smaller home there is a real personal feel throughout.
I visited a friend today at the care home, a beautiful place. The staff was very welcoming and made me feel welcome the home. Absolutely beautiful and was very impressed. I give the home 10 stars - very impressive care home my friend gets the best quality care in the care home and the staff are superb.
My friend went into Thorburn Manor following a sudden bereavement and deterioration in her own health. From the start the staff were reassuring and kind to both her and to us. I was also reassured to know that many of the staff have been there a long time and still seem enthusiastic in their roles. The staff have not been fazed by the difficulties my friend has had settling in showing a tremendous degree of knowledge, professionalism and care for her during this time.
Lovely afternoon tea in mums room. Thanks for all you do for her. Merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for 2025.
Thorburn Manor lay on a high tea in the library for residents and family members. The tea was delicious and the setting was so festive! This was a really lovely touch, thanks, and was much enjoyed by all.
Sadly my mother passed away this week after only seven months in Thorburn Manor. From first to last she had the most amazing care from each and every member of staff. When she went in she had acute nursing needs which meant that the admission process had to be accelerated and the staff went that extra mile making us feel nothing would be a problem. This continued throughout her time in Thorburn. I cannot believe there can be a more caring staff anywhere. We will be forever grateful for the support and compassion we were shown in her final days.
My wife spent her last year in Thorburn Manor after having a major stroke three years previously which left her paralysed down one side and doubly incontinent. Having nursed her at home myself for three years with the help of visiting carers I was a little nervous about placing her in a home. However, Thorburn came highly recommended by someone who regularly attended there and sure enough, from our initial visit onwards, the staff could not have done more to make her comfortable and as active as possible. Even at the end, the staff provided a supportive and sympathetic atmosphere which made the process bearable. So to summarise Thorburn Manor is somewhere that I highly recommend. It has bright modern facilities in a welcoming building with amazing staff. Thank you with all my heart.
The staff are amazing my mother-in-law is very happy the place is very welcoming and clean, my aunt used to be a resident here at Thorburn as well 10 years ago. My mother-in-law has been in the care home for 9 years and though she has difficulty communicating, she communicates her satisfaction non-verbally.
Staff very nice. Facilities good. Continually keep family up to date. As a family, we are very happy with the care given to our parent. A caring environment. Activities are geared towards the age group in the home.
Dad looked after very well. Allowed to stay mostly in his room which is his wish. He seems to enjoy the food. He has been here nearly 3 years without having any issues. The gardens and putting green are very nice in the summer.
After being a resident for the last five years, my father sadly passed away on 25th January. We are so grateful that in his last weeks, the care he received from all the staff was excellent. As a family, we are very grateful for the great care that he received. Thank you to every member of staff.
Really pleased with today's Christmas High Tea. It was very well organised, the food was excellent and importantly mum really enjoyed it. Loved spending time with our Mum. The festive high tea was well prepared and organised.
Overall I am happy with the support and care provided for my mother at Thorburn Manor. The staff are kind and professional and all her daily needs are met. Rooms are kept clean and tidy and there are lots of activities available.
Mary arrived at Thorburn Manor in Sept she and we her family have nothing but praise for the staff and the quality of her care. She has settled in well. We had medical scare a few weeks ago and we were impressed with how this was managed by the staff.
My mother has been looked after at Thorburn for one year. It is a lovely home. The building is light and airy with a lovely garden and a putting green. It seems like a hotel. The food is impressive with different menus. My mum has a clean room with an en-suite bathroom. The staff are very caring and professional and always smiling. They greet us and my mum by name and keep us up to date with what’s happening. They are so patient with her and know exactly how to manage her. Walking is very important for Mum and she is taken out whenever possible. She is safe. There is an extensive programme of activities and entertainment, including live musicians singing Scottish songs. We are often treated to tea and cakes. The local GP comes in weekly and any issues have been sorted. There is a hairdressing salon in the building which Mum appreciates. I am very happy with my mum’s care. When the time comes and I need care I would choose Thorburn.
There are honestly no words that can explain how I feel about Thorburn Manor, my mum has been in Thorburn Manor for nearly four years now. The support my mum and my family especially myself have been given has been exceptional, through the most difficult times, settling my mum in, covid, then dealing with my mum’s dementia, helping me to understand and cope with it, there have been a few tears, but they are always there to help and reassure me and get me through some difficult times, So a massive thank you to all the staff at Thorburn Manor for your continuous love and support, I couldn’t have gone through these sad and happy times without you, I wouldn’t have wanted to.
I have found the atmosphere within the home to be warm, welcoming, and quite anti-institutional in it's design and décor. The facilities are first class and this is backed up by the superb staff. I have yet to walk into the home without receiving a warm welcome and smile. This transfers to the care my wife is receiving and I know she is very well cared for by each member of staff which provides a great comfort to me. There is a very varied programme of activities although my wife is only able to be involved with some of these, they do cover the opportunity for all residents to be involved in as many as they are able.
