As a family, we are very happy with the care and attention that our father receives at Thorburn Manor. The surroundings are very well kept, clean and tidy and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dad has now been a resident for almost 2 years and is very settled and content and his room overlooks
part of the garden which is very important to him as he spent a lot of his spare time outside. Wonderful care home and a pleasure to visit!

My wife went into Thorburn Manor Care Home due to dementia and mobility problems six months ago. The care home has an excellent ambience and she was made feel comfortable from the start with an efficient, stable and very friendly workforce. I have been kept informed of how she is doing by the staff
who have tolerated with good humour my frequent visits. She has a good room and there is excellent equipment to deal with her mobility problems. The home has made a difficult decision for my wife and myself to be apart after 60 years of marriage more tolerable to us both.

I find Thorburn Manor an excellent Care Home it has to be rated very highly in every aspect
It is a beautifully kept Home and the gardens exceptional.I like the fact that it is small and feels like a family. It has a calm peaceful atmosphere whenever you enter. The staff are excellent from administration
to nurses, carers.oddjob men gardeners kitchen staff and cleaners all willing to speak with you and keep you informed. They keep the staff no big change over which means a lot. There are plenty of activities and outings for those able and are very well coordinated. There are also many entertainments throughout the year.
I would thoroughly recommend Thorburn Manor to anyone looking for an excellent Care Home.

I can't thank the staff enough for all they do for mum. She has been in the home for close to 3 years now and at the age of 98 is limited somewhat but sees the home as her safe and happy place. Plenty activities to keep her stimulated, excellent one on one care and the home itself is a lovely building
and place to be with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy in the summer. The staff are great and keep mum stimulated as much as they can.

First impressions of Thorburn Manor continue throughout the Home from a beautifully maintained garden for the residents to enjoy with its pond and recently added waterfall and also the nine hole putting area.
Inside the lounge and dining areas on both floors are tastefully decorated allowing residents
ample choices to enjoy the ambience.
The individual resident rooms are of a very high standard and a maintained on a daily basis ensuring maximum comfort and cleanliness.
Breakfasts Lunches, and Evening meals are served in the two restaurants daily and the staff are there to ensure all are catered for
The Staff from the administration to the carers and the behind the scenes personnel are exemplary with an amazing dedication throughout.

Enjoyed a great afternoon tea with Helen a friend and work colleague . We have known each other for over 50 years and her daughter Carol is my Goddaughter. Carol was my flower girl in 1971. The chef prepared Lovely food which was a beautiful presentation and
staff, as always, very welcoming.

I

always enjoy my visits and often there is great entertainment in the lounge.

Dad is very well looked after by Thorburn Manor. He has a lovely room with a large window which suits dad as he spends most of his time in there. There is a large range of activities and entertainment for the residents and a beautiful festive tea in December. The staff treat dad with kindness and respect,
ensuring he is comfortable, well fed and hydrated. The home is always clean and very well maintained, beautifully decorated at certain times of year, to suit the occasion. They even organised a spectacular Diamond Anniversary party for mum and dad last year. Thank you, Thorburn Manor, dad and his family appreciate all you do.

I am confident in the care my Mum receives at TM.
Apart from the occasional communication slip up, the operation in excellent.
My Mums needs are well understood by staff she knows and who know her.
The medical support available is an important feature which works well in my experience.

My friend went into Thorburn Manor following a sudden bereavement and deterioration in her own health. From the start the staff were reassuring and kind to both her and to us. I was also reassured to know that many of the staff have been there a long time and still seem enthusiastic in their roles.
The staff have not been fazed by the difficulties my friend has had settling in showing a tremendous degree of knowledge, professionalism and care for her during this time.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.855)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.855) out of 10 for Thorburn Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.855 for Thorburn Manor is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 303 Ratings = 4.855
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thorburn Manor is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
