Set in a beautiful leafy location amongst rich flora and fauna in the midst of the peaceful Colinton Village, a charming and highly sought-after suburb in the south-west of Edinburgh, Thorburn Manor is a luxurious care home for the elderly.

Previously the site of the former Bonaly School, Thorburn Manor is a thoughtfully designed care home catering for older people with a range of care needs including dementia and palliative care.

The marriage between the Grade ā€˜C’ listed schoolhouse and their purpose built extension provides the perfect setting to allow their dedicated team to deliver the highest quality care to residents.

The home is registered to cater for 34 residents set in luxurious single rooms with en-suite shower wet room facilities.

Residents enjoy regular, daily activities and have a variety of areas to relax such as the library, quiet lounges and the stunning main lounge which opens onto beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding the property.

The Edinburgh care home is part of the award-winning, family-run Lindemann Healthcare group. All staff are highly trained and motivated to provide a first-class individual care service for all residents and their families.

Our father has been a resident at Thorburn for over 4 years. The standard of care and attention is superb and all the staff are caring and so helpful. Our father settled in so quickly at Thorburn and we really liked the approach of developing a community spirit where all the residents are encouraged
to spend time together in the beautiful sitting room rather than residents being left in their rooms. The standard of cleanliness and indeed the presentation of the entire care home is first class with the main areas having just gone through an extensive refurbishment. Whenever there are issues the family have been informed immediately and the nurses are always extremely diligent in getting the doctor involved (who is also first-class in our experience). We always feel it is easy to ask questions if we have concerns or worries.
I would recommend Thorburn without hesitation.

My aunt lived in Thorburn Manor for almost a year and I was very happy with all aspects of care. When there was any problem one of the senior staff phoned me immediately. On entering the home, there was never a nasty smell as can be found in some care homes. There were lots of interesting pictures on
the walls and I was always made to feel welcome. When the end was near, I would not fault the tender care given to my aunt and I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.
