View Full Details of Dukeminster CourtThe staff always find time to chat to me and are always cheerful and friendly. The garden is lovely and I enjoy it whenever I can. I'm lucky because I have a room with a view over the garden. Overall Dukeminster Court is a lovely place to stay and you won't find better!
Overall I am happy living at Dukeminster Court. The biggest issue I have is the big turnover of staff. Sometimes it is short-staffed here and sometimes I am left waiting for help when I am on my commode or in my bathroom. I am classed as bedbound so rely heavily on two carers using a hoist to move me. However, the carers overall are extremely hardworking and most try very hard to keep the morale high here.
Very pleased with care our relative receives she always looks clean and tidy. Seems happy staff are wonderful, keep us updated if our relative needs anything.
My view of Dukeminster has changed little in the eight years that my father has lived there. I remain very satisfied with all that the house does in its care for him and for the other residents. I will admit to some dissatisfaction several years ago, but those problems have long-since been resolved. The stability of staff and of the home's systems under the current manager (who joined three years ago) is commendable - it seems to be a very happy 'ship', and that also reflects well on the whole staff, many of whom are long-serving. My father began in one of the residential units but, as dementia gradually affected his behaviour and his comprehension, he moved to a more specialised unit. The care and attention he receives, in every aspect of his life at Dkkemisnter, remain excellent: from the more obvious aspect of personal care and physical assistance, through laundry, catering, cleaning and housekeeping, to engagement activitoes and the general administration of the house, there is little, if anything, with which to find fault. As I have said before, I have long experience of this home and can say that I would not have my father anywhere else.
I find the majority of staff friendly, helpful and caring. Unfortunately there is not enough staff on my mum's floor, as three is not adequate if one is on a break, and one doing medication, then waiting for the commode is too long a wait. My mum has also complained about night staff. She said they can be rude, uncaring and sometimes quite rough. Also, I know the residents are elderly, but being put to bed before 8 is ridiculous.
My mother has been resident at Dukeminster Court for four years, following a major stroke. My mother is generally content and happy at Dukeminster Court. She speaks very highly of the staff and likes her fellow residents. The building is well cared for and the rooms welcoming. My mother enjoys the food and we have joined her several times for a very tasty Sunday lunch. The manager is very approachable and has been very proactive in resolving any issues or concerns.
My husband can be very difficult when he is receiving personal care but the staff are really good and patient with him. Saying that he is very happy and settled here and I definitely wouldn't want him anywhere other than here. I know he is safe and being well cared for. Also, if I have any worries or queries, there is always someone on hand to help.
Dukeminster Court Care Home is run very efficiently. All residents are treated with dignity and respect. Every effort is made to support each individual's needs. All staff are helpful, efficient and friendly. The rooms are very clean and personal items of residents that bring them comfort and recognition of their lives at their old homes are accommodated, this includes small personal items of furniture. Resident's names are placed on their room doors providing that personal touch. Highly recommended. There are weekly activities to interest all.
We are happy with this care home. The carers are helpful and very friendly. The food is good and there's always a good choice of food.
My mum started residing at Dukeminster in September. She previously lived with my sister, who died in June and was very reluctant to move but knew she needed full-time care. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff and management in making my mum so welcome. She has settled in better than we could have wished for. The care and attention she is given are outstanding, and although she would rather be in her own home, she is happy. The only criticism is the standard of food - it can be a bit hit-and-miss at times.
My mum is very well looked after. She would get more out of the activities if she joined in, but she often chooses not to. Great food and choices on the menu. Enjoys getting her hair done every week, and occasionally nails too. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and caring. Occasional lift breakdown, but that seems better now. Communal areas are not large, but good use is made of space available. Rooms are kept clean and are a good size. Overall, I am pleased my mum is there.
My father (97) came to Dukeminster in July 2023 when no longer able to live alone. Our first impressions of Dukeminster as a very clean, spacious facility, professionally run with calm, friendly and helpful staff have been borne out in the care Dad has received to date. The senior management team have demonstrated insight and patience in providing him with appropriate levels of personal, medical, and psychological care and support. Any queries or concerns we may have are always dealt with promptly. Staff are efficient and friendly and for Dad at least, seeing their different coloured uniforms helps him to understand what to expect from each individual. The catering is excellent such that he stays hydrated with drinks and regular meals throughout the day. The laundry, housekeeping and maintenance service is exemplary. The reception area is always very welcoming and we appreciate how a balance is maintained between familiarity and privacy for both residents and their visitors.
We put Mum into this care home to keep her safe and now we have lost her! She was sent up to A&E with a suspected stroke. She had actually had a fall which staff were unaware of which ultimately caused her to pass away from her injuries less than two weeks later. The ladies on reception and the majority of carers work extremely hard. What I am disappointed in is the management, when we initially discussed Mum's needs, it was discussed that Mum doesn’t like male carers and likes to be attended to by female carers which is stated on her care plan. I have since found out that on that night of her accident, her personal care was being tended to by a male carer and had also been on other occasions too. I also asked if Mum was found on the morning of her accident via a routine check or via her room sensor going off and was told the sensor was faulty. The manager also said that Mum hasn’t previously had falls but she has! The manager also has never once said ‘I’m sorry for your loss!’
Excellent care. Great compassion from carers and staff.
Our journey from the initial meeting at Dukeminster Court has been fantastic. Calm and attentive. The staff have been so supportive. Nothing is too much trouble. We are so happy with Mum's care at Dukeminster Court. We thank you all.
Home from home. Special people who care and love for all people, treating them with dignity.
Mum came for three weeks respite following a fall at home. The care and compassion displayed by all the staff here are exemplary.
I visited Dukeminster Court for the first time this month and was most impressed with the home. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, the home was immaculate and my friend is very well cared for. Congratulations to you all!
My mother moved into Dukeminster Court following a stroke whilst waiting for the completion of a retirement flat. She loved it so much she decided to stay at Dukeminster on a permanent basis! My mother is very happy and feels very well looked after by all the wonderful staff. She has a lovely room, enjoys the company of the staff and the other residents and happily participates in all the fabulous activities. The food is great too! As a family member, the staff at Dukeminster couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We are very happy with the home.
Absolutely wonderful visit with my brother for his birthday. The COVID prevention procedure is excellent. Well done Dukeminster!!!
