My mum in law has a lovely room with her belongings to make it welcoming and homely. She is very unsettled and yet to be diagnosed with dementia however the care home have built a rapport with my relative to make her as settled as possible. Communitcation between the home staff and family is excellent. We feel our relative is getting a high standard of care at Dukeminster.

Overall I think Dukeminster is very good apart from meals. I do think the meals can be very repetitive & boring. The quality of the food could be improved greatly. It doesn't look very appealing at times.
Eg sandwiches:- I've noticed that most residents would choose the egg mayonnaise but only two are available.
Some residents are also left sitting at the dinner tables for quite some time after finishing their meal. Some staff members are not busy during this time. They are permanently on & off their phones. I don't find this acceptable when residents are waiting for the bathroom or to return to their rooms.

The cleanliness of the residence bathrooms could be improved to a higher standard by paying greater attention to details & not leaving the residue of cleaning products over the toilet seat & lids.

Mum has been a resident for 18 months. Dukeminster is like a family. They strive to create a safe, comfortable and homely atmosphere and carers are kind and friendly. Mum still enjoys a good banter and they get that! There have been a few changes in the last 6 months aiming to improve the experiences of the residence. They are providing a wider variety of activities and working hard to improve the gardens. Moving mum to Dukeminster was a 'good move'

My mother, who had been a resident for just over a year, recently died. I was a regular visitor and in a good position to observe the way the home was run. The thing that struck me the most is the fabulous team spirit which runs through the whole of the staff, whatever their position. It is a difficult and sometimes thankless job which is performed with smiles, fun and compassion. This atmosphere has been engineered by the manager who is a shining example of exactly how to run a care home, she is accessible, strong, and quite the most capable and caring person I have ever met. I did not expect the care the I myself received in my grief from all of the fabulous staff. My father still remains a resident and with his dementia can be incredibly difficult to deal with but he is cared for just the same with the team taking the good days with the bad in their stride.

Overall I am happy living at Dukeminster Court. The biggest issue I have is the big turnover of staff. Sometimes it is short-staffed here and sometimes I am left waiting for help when I am on my commode or in my bathroom. I am classed as bedbound so rely heavily on two carers using a hoist to move me. However, the carers overall are extremely hardworking and most try very hard to keep the morale high here.

My view of Dukeminster has changed little in the eight years that my father has lived there. I remain very satisfied with all that the house does in its care for him and for the other residents. I will admit to some dissatisfaction several years ago, but those problems have long-since been resolved. The stability of staff and of the home's systems under the current manager (who joined three years ago) is commendable - it seems to be a very happy 'ship', and that also reflects well on the whole staff, many of whom are long-serving. My father began in one of the residential units but, as dementia gradually affected his behaviour and his comprehension, he moved to a more specialised unit. The care and attention he receives, in every aspect of his life at Dkkemisnter, remain excellent: from the more obvious aspect of personal care and physical assistance, through laundry, catering, cleaning and housekeeping, to engagement activitoes and the general administration of the house, there is little, if anything, with which to find fault. As I have said before, I have long experience of this home and can say that I would not have my father anywhere else.

I find the majority of staff friendly, helpful and caring. Unfortunately there is not enough staff on my mum's floor, as three is not adequate if one is on a break, and one doing medication, then waiting for the commode is too long a wait. My mum has also complained about night staff. She said they can be rude, uncaring and sometimes quite rough. Also, I know the residents are elderly, but being put to bed before 8 is ridiculous.

My mother has been resident at Dukeminster Court for four years, following a major stroke. My mother is generally content and happy at Dukeminster Court. She speaks very highly of the staff and likes her fellow residents. The building is well cared for and the rooms welcoming. My mother enjoys the food and we have joined her several times for a very tasty Sunday lunch. The manager is very approachable and has been very proactive in resolving any issues or concerns.

Dukeminster Court Care Home is run very efficiently. All residents are treated with dignity and respect. Every effort is made to support each individual's needs. All staff are helpful, efficient and friendly. The rooms are very clean and personal items of residents that bring them comfort and recognition of their lives at their old homes are accommodated, this includes small personal items of furniture. Resident's names are placed on their room doors providing that personal touch. Highly recommended. There are weekly activities to interest all.

My mum started residing at Dukeminster in September. She previously lived with my sister, who died in June and was very reluctant to move but knew she needed full-time care. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff and management in making my mum so welcome. She has settled in better than we could have wished for. The care and attention she is given are outstanding, and although she would rather be in her own home, she is happy. The only criticism is the standard of food - it can be a bit hit-and-miss at times.

My mum is very well looked after. She would get more out of the activities if she joined in, but she often chooses not to.
Great food and choices on the menu.
Enjoys getting her hair done every week, and occasionally nails too.
The staff are very friendly, welcoming and caring.
Occasional lift breakdown, but that seems better now.
Communal areas are not large, but good use is made of space available.
Rooms are kept clean and are a good size.

Overall, I am pleased my mum is there.
