View Full Details of The Manor House KnaresboroughI came into the Manor House on Monday February 17th 2025 for 2 weeks respite (after having visited other homes) I was made very welcome from day 1 as I found the people all very friendly and welcoming and making me feel very much at home. I gradually joined the various activities being held in the home or out in the community. Went to the theatre and for a trip on a canal boat. Once they realised I had been teacher they persuaded me to read a book on our Teddy Bears picnic day's. Its 30 years since I retired!! I am now a permanent resident here.
My mum has been a resident for about 6 months currently, due to dementia. The staff helped her settle in very quickly and she much prefers her new home to living with me. She has had some recent health troubles that have resulted in short hospital stays. The support she and the family have been given during these has been outstanding. They monitor her wellbeing closely, step in proactively to avoid or resolve problems, and keep the family updated on any developments. On a day to day basis, the facilities, entertainment and food are all great. The staff are always very professional, caring and accommodating while also being happy to chat to or assist residents or visitors whenever the need arises. I have yet to find anyone working there who does not appear to have been trained to a very high level, literally all the staff are great to interact with.
My mother has been resident at the Manor House for 2.5 years now. She has always been treated with respect, her interests have been taken into account with regards to activities and she has always been well cared for by the entire range of staff. The staff engage with family members well to ensure that their loved ones have the best experience in what has become their new home.
Mum made Manor House her home from July 2018. Or should I say, the wonderful staff at MH made it Mum's home from the off. As a family we are indebted to all the staff at MH that have loved and cared for Mum. She was on the Chesters Dementia floor, but it was so noticeable when I took mum out for a walk that most of the staff we saw on the ground floor on the way out would stop and say 'hello'. Lots of activities to keep residents stimulated. Kept clean and well maintained by the team and some very well fed and watered residents. Thank you all for everything you did for mum.
From initial contact to final goodbyes the standard of care and support from The Manor House team could not be improved upon. All staff take time to interact with residents, whether they have direct responsibility for them or not. They took time to understand dad's personality and cherished his cheeky smile. The professional and caring support and the flexibility of staff in the face of changing circumstances have been a huge blessing to myself, my sister and my mum. Thank you.
A wonderful facility- such a comfort to know that Mum is being so well cared for. The staff are always thoughtful and calm and pleasant to be around when I visit. The activities are top notch as is the food and decor.
My sister has now been resident with dementia for approximately 18 months, the staff have been caring and sympathetic during this period and the family are very happy with the selection made and would certainly recommend to anyone who has to make a choice.
I have been here for about four weeks, during that time I have always been treated as an independent person. Due to increasing immobility I now need much more personal care, and the staff are always deferential and caring in their attitude. Although it is a big adjustment from being in my own home - I constantly feel at ease knowing there is always someone to call if needed and that has lessened my feelings of apprehension at being alone, especially during the night. I hope I will continue to be happy here.
Really pleased we chose The Manor House for our mother. She has settled in really quickly and feels safe and secure here. She is loving all the activities and takes part in many of them.
Pleasant, helpful staff who go out of their way to make stay a good experience. Comfortable accommodation with modern, clean facilities. Common areas kept clean and tidy with plenty of books and board games on offer. Slept well on comfortable beds with no disturbances during night hours. Felt safe and looked after.
My mum stayed in The Manor House Knaresborough for 3 weeks whilst my husband and I were on holiday visiting our children. She really enjoyed her stay, she found her room light and airy, she thought the food was very good and enjoyed talking to other residents. She found the staff kind and friendly, ready to help her when needed and to encourage her to take part in the many activities on offer in the large ground floor lounge.
Mum has been at the Manor House since January 2024 on long-term respite care, we are now hoping to make her a permanent resident. Mum was quite anxious to begin with, but quickly settled in due to the wonderful, caring and kind staff. All of the staff, no matter of their role in the home are fantastic. They have made Mum feel so welcome and the atmosphere is always so happy and friendly, they are like our extended family now. Mum tells me they are all wonderful. They all give Mum such excellent care for everything and they give me support too. They are extremely good at keeping me updated on Mum and her care. Mum is enjoying the varied activities and joins in on a lot of them and spends a lot of her time in the lounge with the new friends she has made, for someone who has been shy all her life this is a massive change, which I am over the moon about. I cannot praise all the staff enough and I could not ask for any better. The best choice I ever made was the Manor House.
Since moving to the home, I've found the staff particularly helpful in assisting with the change from living at home. The meals are very good with plenty of variety. There are plenty of activities which are very well organised. I really enjoyed the trip to the railway museum. I have settled far better than I thought I would and credit all the staff for this and their care.
Mum has been a resident at the Manor House for two years. We can hardly find the words to express our appreciation for all the love, care, hard work and meticulous attention that she receives from the whole team who work here. This has resulted in Mum being completely settled from day one. She is happier now than she has been for many years. A huge well done and thank you. Many thanks.
Dad recently moved into The Manor and I'm so impressed with the welcoming, friendly manner and the kindness and consideration shown in making sure he is settling and his needs are met. It is such a huge decision to move to a care home, but everything has been handled very efficiently. Within less than a week medication was sorted and even a weekly distinct nurse visit put in place. The whole place feels warm and welcoming.
My mum became a resident here in September 2023. The preparation for her arrival was excellent and included not only the tour of the facility but an extended meeting with the care home manager who found out as much as she could about Mum before her arrival. The room that she has is spacious and has everything she needs and I was able to bring items from home to make the space her own. The staff are excellent, so caring and attentive and keep me informed at all times. The food is amazing, Mum's appetite has been restored and she looks forward to all meals which she can eat in her room or the dining room. The activity programme is extensive and although Mum is not one to join in, when I visit I can see other residents enjoying all sorts of stimulation from visiting entertainers, art and crafts, trips out into the local town, get-togethers with other local organisations. The Manor House is more than I could have hoped for and I am delighted that she has become a member of their family.
Mum settled in after a couple of days and I was pleased she joined in so many of the activities available. There seemed to be staff readily available to help and assist in moving mum to the restaurant or lounge, I was a bit surprised all her clothes were washed after 3 days. I hadn't labelled any I expected her to wear all week so not all items were returned at the end of her stay, and she was wearing loaned underwear although she had some things in her case. The room was very large and welcoming which made her stay easier.
Stayed here for a week of respite care after a hip replacement operation. My room and bathroom were great, plenty of space and very clean. Staff could not do enough for me, supplying me with extra pillows, a TV, and cushions to sit on. I could walk in corridors for exercise and use some of the stairs which gave me a good start to my recovery. The staff were all helpful and pleasant, food was very good. Definitely would recommend it!
My sister arrived on the 14th of July. Staff 'on the ball' moved her to a more secure unit, she loves her new bedroom (she can see trees) and slowly settling in. Have voted excellent because The Manor House Knaresborough deserves it.
The staff at The Manor House are friendly, caring, professional and efficient. They take a genuine interest in each resident and have made my mum very welcome and helped her settle into the home. It's five star luxury and has the feeling of being on a lovely holiday. The activities are great and the fact that residents can have a few beauty treatments is wonderful as well.
