View Full Details of Highmarket HouseI just felt I had to write and express my sincere thanks to all at Highmarket for making my mother's first 3 weeks at the home so happy. In that time she has improved both her physical and mental well being enormously, and is now eating like she used to!!! There is a comprehensive range of activities on offer every day and my mother particularly enjoys the group crossword puzzles and 'silver' spinners sessions. By way of an example, on returning home at the weekend she positively leapt over the doorstep which she previously has struggled with. So a BIG thanks to all the staff - there are too many to mention in person but a special word of thanks to Ross for being so welcoming and encouraging my mother to get much fitter, and a particular member of staff and her team for the wonderful care she is now receiving. Well done to you all and thank you.
We have used respite a few times, we found the room, and access to her patio has been very good. She has developed some good friends, and got involved with suitable activities. Levels of cleanliness is very good. It's likely mum will go back again soon!
My mother broke her hip back in March and after spending some time in hospital, I had to find her respite, as she was going downhill in hospital. After visiting Highmarket House, they sent a nurse to assess her and she was transferred within 24 hours. My mother was very sceptical, as she was very anti going into a care home. The staff were very welcoming and and couldn't do enough for her. It took her a few weeks to settle but after 9 weeks she asked if she could stay and didn't want to go home. She enjoys the company of staff and residents and is looked after so well. She enjoys the food and has a glass of wine with her meal. The staff go out of their way to make her feel special and look after her every needs. As a family we know she is safe and being well looked after, most importantly she is happy. We enjoy going to visit her in the bistro with coffee, drinks and cakes available. Thank you Highmarket House.
Just wanted to say 'Thank you' to everyone for making the recent respite planning/ stay such a positive experience for us all. I would definitely highly recommend Highmarket House and will certainly use your care home in the future ,if needed , without any hesitation. You are doing a brilliant job!
Our mother had a wonderful two week respite stay Feb/March 2025. It gave her a much needed boost and certainly helped the family have a break from caring duties. She loved her ground floor garden room. We were really pleased that she took the opportunity to participate in the different daily activities. She still talks about them all and thoroughly enjoyed the cinema afternoons with drinks and snacks. Everyday she used the coffee shop area, chatting with residents, staff and guests. During her stay she had her hair and nails done, appreciating all the efforts from the staff. Meals were of a high standard, mum particularly liked the homemade soups and commented that the food was "5 star luxury". Staff were always welcoming, helpful , attentive, offering useful advice. The duty care team did their utmost to give mum excellent care , for which we are very grateful. A million thanks from all the family and highly recommend this care home to others.
My involvement with Highmarket House has been ongoing since 2019 when my mother was a resident. Nowadays it's to do with a past neighbour. We visited numerous care homes as a voluntary driver so feel confident in assessing Highmarket as one of the better homes. Staff are helpful and caring and management are always ready to listen and advise if needed.
From the time my husband came into Highmarket he has been looked after very well. Just walking through the door, a happy greeting from all receptionists, the nurse on duty and all the carers, they seem to go that extra mile to make sure my husband is comfortable. The reason for the low mark on food, he doesn't like some food, but they always give him another choice.
I am delighted with everything about Highmarket House. The care my mum receives is exceptional - very caring, well trained and dedicated staff. The entertainment is varied and inclusive. I had and will continue to recommend Highmarket House to friends who are considering similar care for their relatives.
Always a friendly greeting, lovely communal areas that are kept clean, staff are always polite and helpful. Feel safe in the knowledge that my mum is in safe and caring environment.
The care my mother receives is outstanding, all the care staff show lots of compassion and you can see they truly care about their residents wellbeing. We get constant updates about my mum and they are always going above and beyond for her. We visit daily and can see she's very well cared for as well as the other residents. She takes part in the activities and has been on many day trips with the home.
The resident told me she liked it at Highmarket House, she was happy to stay here. I asked her if she wanted to go home. Her reply was "Not really.". I have found all staff to be very friendly and helpful. It has given me peace of mind to know everything possible has been done for my aunt.
I can honestly say I have never felt so welcomed in my life, I was so worried and all the staff were so kind, they went above and beyond. My mum loves being here and the change in her is unbelievable, doing things and so happy. I am so very grateful both my mum and my life feels so much better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Very pleased with the standard and professionalism of all staff. They treat my wife with respect. She feels very comfortable in Highmarket House. Also, the management are very helpful and supportive.
My parents were residents between January 2023 and June 2024 when my mother died - my father, who had Parkinson's died in July 2023. Staff are incredible - from the manager, through to the carers and nursing team, housekeeping and maintenance. Kind, efficient but with a sense of humour. My mother, left on her own for a year after my father died, said repeatedly that she knew she was in the right place. And whilst they are fabulous to the residents, I was touched by how kind the staff were to me too. I was encouraged to pop in and have lunch - you're not made to feel in the way but are welcomed. And when I had my dog with me (pet therapy really does seem to work), another table was set in one of the other reception rooms. Food was generally excellent with a good choice. The coffee shop at the front is a lovely idea - a destination and change of scenery and offers a great choice. The wonderful facilities team organised much appreciated great trips out such as Crufts and Cadbury's world.
My dad went to stay at High Market House after a six week stay in hospital. We chose High Market as when we visited it just felt so homely and welcoming. The staff are lovely, the place is immaculate and the residents are very well cared for. Dad has dementia and when he arrived at High Market House he was a shadow of himself and extremely weak. Since moving there he has become so much stronger and healthier. He is well looked after by friendly staff that spend time with them. When visiting it feels like one big family in the dining room/lounge area which is nice. They serve a variety of healthy meals and always offer some to the family. It was a tough decision moving him to a care home but now we are so glad that we did as he is a much happier and stronger person surrounded by lovely friendly people.
My mum is settling in well and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We are made to feel genuinely welcomed when we visit and encouraged to make use of the lovely coffee shop area. The residents rooms are cosy and cheerful. Mum loves being taken into the garden and hearing the birds singing. We definitely made the right decision for Mum by choosing Highmarket House.
When I first visited High Market House I was struck by how welcoming and understanding the staff were. Since my mum became a resident I have been continually impressed - they go above and beyond - caring is truly at the heart of everything they do. As a family, we are very happy to spend time with Mum in the cafe and gardens or finding new delights for her grandchildren in the hobby room. There are also fun events that everyone is welcome to join in with. Mum now has a new love of food! She always mentions how much she enjoys everything she eats. I am content that Mum is getting the best care which is very reassuring during such a difficult time.
I wanted somewhere for my stepdad to stay for respite. I was impressed with the home during my initial inspection and the staff were very friendly. My stepdad has stayed here a number of times now, usually for a couple of weeks at a time to allow me a break, as I gave up work to care for him with dementia. The rooms are always clean and tidy and I feel he is well cared for while he's there. When I go to collect him he is always calm and settles in well. The staff are all helpful and caring towards residents and family members. Keep up the good work!
I planned a trip to the UK, from where I live in New Zealand, that would allow me to visit my aunty. I had been following her involvement in activities at Highmarket via your social media page. It has been so lovely to see what she had been up to. My actual visit was wonderful. I was very happy to see her room was so welcoming and pleasant to spend time in. We had a wonderful lunch together and staff members were accommodating and helpful. I'm grateful to have been able to spend time with her and to see her happy. I love the photo that we took together. Her cheeky smile and bright eyes make my heart skip a beat as she reminds me of my mum. Love her to bits. Thank you for taking such care of her and celebrating her gorgeous, cheekiness.
After having been on holiday for 10 days I called in to see my mum and take her out for a drive. It was lovely to hear from the staff a little resume of how Mum had been whilst I was away. The staff really do know my mum very well and are aware of all her individual likes and dislikes. It was good to see some new pictures and furniture around the hallways and reception. My mum did comment that it made a nice change. I was surprised she had noticed. That’s a good sign! The home as usual was buzzing with activity. A group of school children were visiting and there was lively music playing on the jukebox. The activities team come up with some amazing, fun and current ideas for the residents should they wish to join in. I noticed Mum has a banana milkshake instead of plain water with her medication to help add to her protein intake. Good idea. Highmarket House has been my mum's home for almost 6 years. The management team at the present time in my opinion is the best it’s been.
