View Full Details of Leah Lodge Care HomeMy short period of respite care proved to be very helpful and supportive. The staff made every effort to provide the special diet and I needed for all my meals at that time. Visitors were made very welcome, and it was good to be ale to have tea and cake with them in the little cafe.
My dad has been at Leah Lodge 6 months now, and we are very happy with the care he has received. The medical care he has access to is excellent, and the individual attention and support he has received since moving in are really great. The staff are informally kind and attentive, and my dad is as happy and secure as we could ask for.
A good service when you have full staff.
My father was taken into Leah Lodge Care Home after a fall at home and my mother struggled to care for him at home. He was 94-year-old. I was very apprehensive about Care Homes, but Leah Lodge were fantastic. Dad had dementia and the way the staff encouraged and included him in activities and outings brought him out of himself. The staff are marvelous and I would definitely recommend the whole team. Well done and thank you Leah Lodge.
Our uncle has been at Leah Lodge for 6 years and in all that time he has been very happy, has received exceptional care and we have 100% confidence in this home. He is always treated with dignity and respect, but also like one of the family. We feel very welcome when we visit and our uncle enjoys the opportunities for trips out and the events organised within the home. Staff exceptionally kind and professional, regular routine visits from the doctor, we are always updated on any change of medication, jabs, etc. We are extremely glad to have found this wonderful place for our uncle and would recommend to anyone.
Very high quality care. Warm caring environment. Great food. Lovely rooms and environment. Excellent communication and personalised care. Lots of activities and occupational activities. Well managed. High quality personal care. Couldn't praise the place enough.
I cannot speak highly enough of Leah Lodge and its staff. My mum, who has moderate Alzheimer's, moved in a month ago. We were both worried about this big step as she had been living with me and my family but we really needn't have been. The staff were so supportive throughout the decision-making and moving-in process and Mum settled in quickly. She is very happy in her new home and enjoys the activities, especially the outings (she has been to a local school, to church and Gardens) and has already made a couple of friends! The staff are caring, positive and friendly and always willing to listen however busy they are. The best thing for us as a family is that we can relax knowing that Mum is so well looked after and it's great to see her living her own life again having been so dependent on us. We love visiting her at Leah Lodge, sitting in the cafe having tea and cake or relaxing in the beautiful garden. It's such a warm and welcoming atmosphere!
I am super happy with the care that Leah Lodge provides for my mum. Mum moved into Leah Lodge in Oct 2024 and she has done nothing but thrive. All the staff are not only caring but lovely and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. She joins in with all the activities and when they go out on days out she has a great time. It has been a great relief to know that mum is in such wonderful hands.
Dad arrived following a hospital stay and in the late stages of dementia for end of life care. He is being wonderfully cared for by all the team who are kind, thoughtful, helpful and caring. We feel that dad could not be in better hands.
Be warned. Fees rise very sharply, punishing longer term residents. Each year fees have increased well above inflation; after 3 years we are now paying an extra £3000 per month, considerably more than new residents do for the same care. This is an injustice but management are indifferent to our objections, caring only about their profits.
We have all been really happy with the care provided at Leah Lodge. My stepdad settled in quickly, and is very fond of the staff, telling us how well they look after him. He has really enjoyed some of the activities, and the activities staff are outstanding. The care is very good and staff are quick to communicate any concerns. He says the food is great, and it's nice to have the cafe area to sit and talk when we visit. It has been a huge relief to know that he is safe and well cared for. I could never have imagined someone so fiercely independent would be happy in a care home, but it has suited him remarkably well.
Management and all the team at Leah Lodge provided our family with exceptional support when we needed it the most. On entering a care home setting for the first time, Dad presented significant challenges to the team and his family and the Leah Lodge team worked with him and the family with great care, sensitivity and compassion. We, the family, our very pleased to be able to recommend Leah Lodge to readers considering placing a loved one in their care - our experience has been a very positive one, in very difficult circumstances.
I moved into Leah Lodge 10 weeks ago; it is now my permanent home. Before I came, I was well supported by the publicity and recruitment staff, who patiently answered my many questions as worked through a life-changing decision. My experience of living here has been very good. All staff know me and address me by name at all times. Help is available at the touch of a button, and it is given cheerfully and willingly; there is an excellent balance between any support needed and respect and encouragement of my independence. The activities coordinators work hard to maintain our social skills through varied and imaginative projects, including frequent opportunities to go further afield in the minibus. As for the comfort and maintenance of good health, menus are varied and interesting, beds are wide and comfortable, rooms are well furnished, and there is ready access to the doctor who visits the home every week.
Leah Lodge is a well run, caring place for people with dementia. The staff are professional but kind and friendly with the residents, who are given plenty of agency over decisions. It fosters a good environment, with plenty of activities and things for the residents to do. This is the fourth home that my mother has been in (this happened more by accident that because we're difficult!), so I have a good understanding of how care homes work, and it is definitely the best, from the settling in process to the day-to-day lived experience.
My uncle has been here for 5 years and is safe and content. He has excellent care and the staff are very caring and attentive. My mother (his sister) and I visit regularly and are always happy with his care.
I always thought putting a relative in a care home was the last thing I should do until a friend became a permanent resident in Leigh Lodge. It's such a happy and caring home, somewhere I'd enjoy living myself. The carers know all the friends and relatives of the residents. The relatives know each other's mothers and fathers. It's like being part of a large family. The relatives meetings a time to connect over a glass and nibbles. The pizza, curry and fish and chip nights for the relatives an opportunity to chat with each other and the staff. The managers, senior carers and the lady who runs the activities. My dogs are always welcome and enjoyed by the residents. The staff have an extremely difficult job, which they manage calmly. There is often much laughter and fun, dancing and singing. Leigh Lodge is always thinking up new ways to improve the lives of their residents. It's exciting to be involved in their plans and to be asked for our ideas.
Leah Lodge provide a high level of personal care. All staff from housekeeping to reception are helpful and friendly. My father is happy there, enjoying the food and company of the other residents and staff who have taken time to get to know him and will always have a chat.
Leah Lodge was the obvious choice for Mum when she needed residential care as my mother-in-law had lived there previously for several years and been very well looked after. Mum has been there for over 18 months now and is very happy. She settled in straight away so the transition was much easier than I expected. I think it is due to the warmth and friendliness of all the carers who convey a great deal of compassion and kindness mixed with good humour and fun. Overall it is a very welcoming and friendly place which I believe sets it apart from other homes.
My mother has now been at Leah Lodge for just over 9 months having moved in just before Xmas last year after suffering a stroke. She took quite a few months to settle in but is now happy and doing lots of the activities offered (the activities co-ordinator is exceptional). The food is good with wine offered at meal times. Staffing is also good. The main thing about Leah Lodge is that as soon as you walk in you don't feel like it's a typical care home setting as the reception area and cafe is very welcoming and friendly. The rooms and communal areas are also very personal and comforting. To conclude I feel Mum is safe and well cared for.
My uncle has lived at Leah Lodge for a few years now and they are fantastic. He is very happy and considers it his home. It is a blessing to know he is cared for and the staff are great! The meals are nice and the social aspect provided has really kept him more with it than I've seen at other homes. I am so grateful for all that they have done.
