View Full Details of Wisteria House Dementia Care (Plymstock)We have been blown away by the level of love and care my Mum has received since moving to Wisteria House. It is such a difficult decision to take, moving a loved one into a care environment, but the whole team have done everything possible to settle mum and help us in this transition. Mum is loved and cared for so well, the staff go out of their way to understand the residents and their needs - and to provide activities that they know they'll enjoy. Mum loves to help out and when she wants to, she's there giving out cups of tea and biscuits, helping with tasks that make her feel valued and useful. I would absolutely 100% recommend Wisteria to anyone who is looking for a dementia setting.
My grandmother stayed at Wisteria for a few months while her husband was in hospital. I can honestly say they are nothing short of exceptional! The staff were absolutely incredible - I truly struggle to find the words to thank them properly. My Grannie felt like part of a family and during her time there, despite the dementia, I felt like I got my grannie back. Previously she was withdrawn and spent most of her time in bed, but thanks to the warm, social environment and the truly outstanding care she received, she began engaging again and genuinely seemed to enjoy life. They also supported our whole family, keeping in regular contact and going above and beyond to meet our needs. When her medication was in disarray, they had it sorted with the GP within 24 hours. On discharge, they provided a clear breakdown of her meds and ensured a smooth transition. Even now, she talks about returning-despite poor memory in other areas, her time at Wisteria made a lasting impact. I can't thank the staff enough!
My Mother-in-Law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a number of years ago and as a family we have done everything possible to keep her at home, largely with the help of my son who moved in with her, and with daily visits from care workers. Inevitably this became harder and harder to manage, and so the decision was made to move her to a care home. My wife visited several different homes, but for various reasons they just weren't right. But then she had the good fortune to view Wisteria House. she said she knew instantly that this was the place, and after my first visit I knew what she meant. The place has a lovely feel to it and the staff are all very warm and welcoming. It wasn't easy at first because it was it was all very confusing for her, but after a while she became a lot more settled. There are always activities going on there and all the residents seems so content. We are all so happy with the decision we made to move my Mother-in law to Wisteria. Keep up the great work everyone!
Our precious Mum has been in Wisteria Plymstock for over. 3 years. It was the best decision my sisters and I have made. The staff are amazing. Some of the most caring and loving group of people I have ever met. Angels!! The love and care they give to not only to Mum but the everyone is outstanding. It's a big happy family. There are fun activities every day and when I visit I feel so welcomed. Well done to all the staff at Wisteria xx
After caring for Mum in her own home for some time it became clear that Mum needed more than we could provide. Visiting Wisteria House for the first time we got such a strong feeling of cosy, homeliness and immediately felt we'd found a great place. Four months on we are sure of that. Everyone is always welcoming, the care is so genuine. The activities provided are stimulating, varied and fun, everyone is included. We don't think we could have found a better fit for mum and us. We thank everyone there for their help and support.
Our Nana has been living at Wisteria for a couple of years now. The care she receives is amazing. Wisteria is very person centred and really makes every resident and their families feel welcomed and cared for. Wisteria isn't just a care home its a family. The staff go above and beyond and our whole family feel so happy knowing our beloved Nana is being cared for with such compassion. Thank you Wisteria.
Both my parents moved into Wisteria when it opened. The care they both received was wonderful. Sadly mum has died but dad still lives there. The staff are thoughtful and kind and very caring. The home is beautifully cared for and offers a variety of enrichment activities and entertainment. It is a wonderful environment and I cannot praise the staff and management sufficiently. It is a great place to be.
Our dear mum has Alzheimer's. Having supported her living on her own for as long as possible, made possible by my wonderful sister and brother in law, and remarkable nephew, last summer we all agreed it was time for mum to move to a home. That was tough. But the stars aligned when Wisteria House and their remarkable team came into mum and our lives. The care, support and love they give mum and their support of us as a family over what has been at times a challenging period, has been remarkable. They feel like an extended part of our family. Every single member of the team are so friendly, professional and caring. I feel humbled every time I visit. I cannot say a big enough thank you to the team and cannot recommend Wisteria House more highly.
When nana first arrived at Wisteria House in Hooe, I was very reluctant to visit. Mainly because I feared how awful it would be. I did eventually visit and was beyond surprised at how lovely it was. It felt like an actual home, full of love and compassion. Some years later, and with nana still residing at Wisteria, I continue to be impressed every time I visit. Every resident is shown love and care, with their individual needs and wants catered for. I love that every occasion is celebrated and the joyful atmosphere the home has fostered. Every one of the staff members are incredible. Very helpful, hard working and always with a smile on their face. I and my family, will be forever grateful for the top class care they continue to provide our one and only nana. Thank you Wisteria, xxx
This home in my opinion, and that of my aunty who has lived here for the last 6 years has to be given a 10/10 review. It has to be the best care home in Plymouth! The team are led by the manager who is one of the most genuine, caring people you could wish to meet along with her fantastic team. The love, care and compassion that the residents are given in this home is exemplary. The home cooked food is always prepared daily and presented with care, cakes are baked for birthdays as well as during the week. The girls are always encouraging the residents to join in with themed activities which are varied throughout the week. The ladies have their hair do's every week so they all look extremely smart and the staff pay particular attention to the way the residents are dressed daily, everything matches and spotlessly clean. My aunty has had a wonderful 6 years in this home and is very happy - what more could you ask for our elderly relatives other than to be loved and well cared for x
It was the hardest decision to put mum in a home. I looked at so many care homes and feeling that if I couldn't imagine living there myself it would not be right for mum. The moment I walked into Wisteria I was met with such warmth and feeling of home and I knew this was the place. My mum did find it very difficult at first which broke my heart, but the staff were so supportive and kind helping not only mum but myself with this transition . The staff show so much love and understanding it was not long before mum was happy and content. I am amazed by all the fabulous activities and social events that they offer encouraging the residents to get involved with. There is nothing that the staff will not do to look after each individuals needs showing such affection and going the extra mile. Over the last 8 months that my mum has been at Wisteria House I feel we have struck gold and cannot thank everyone enough for this.
I cannot talk more highly about Wisteria Care Home..my mum is so happy living there, it truly is so amazing..I can go in to visit my mum any time night or day and I am made to feel like one of the family ...the wonderful staff are so kind and loving with my mum. It gives me so much Peace and Joy to know she is so happy and so at home ... FABULOUS...
My dear mother has now been in this home for approximately five years. Throughout this time she has been cared for to the highest standards. Our family are so grateful to all of the staff that give her such care and love. The team are always looking to improve their lives and provide them with the best care. The management team always act in a professional and caring manner as keeps us informed about their progress. We feel so lucky that our mother is in this home. Thank you to all the team
Wisteria House truly deserves its CQC rating of "Outstanding". My wife was entrusted to the care of the manager and her team after 5 years of care at home . She has smiled more in the 6 weeks she has been at Wisteria house than during the previous 5 years. The care provided is superb, with all carers, without exception, devoted to the residents and providing virtually a one-to-one relationship. Regular activities and events ,with encouragement to all residents to join in, , ensure maximum stimulation. This shows in the animated expressions on the faces of those taking part. and in the relaxed atmosphere Everyone's needs are responded to and regular visits from hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist and entertainers contribute to their wellbeing. Wisteria House is home, and my daily visits have been immensely reassuring to me. My family and I viewed many care homes in the Plymouth area and are certain we have made by far the best choice (Husband of Resident and long-retired GP)
I cannot praise the manager and her Team highly enough. They have been wonderful in offering not only care but love to my mother who has later stage dementia and this can result in her becoming aggressive. On any visit I have seen nothing but care and treating people as individuals to all residents whilst visiting. They keep you fully informed of all medical issues and seek any assistance for residents to ensure the best quality of life. I feel any person who has this awful disease is very lucky to be cared for in such a small and loving home from home
From the very first day, the staff could not have been better in making Mum feel safe, looking after her care and needs. The activities they do are awesome! It has been lovely after Covid to get to see the staff working together to make sure the residents feel happy and relaxed. I feel so happy that Mum is there and wouldn't put her anywhere else.
It is an extremely hard decision putting your Mum into a home. So finding one that was going to be the next "perfect" home for Mum seemed like it was going to be an impossible task. Until we found Wisteria! Wow, I am blown away by everything about it. The accommodation is outstanding; I feel like I am visiting my mum in her home, rather than visiting her in an old people's home. It is homely and spotlessly clean, but above all, the staff are all incredible. There are not enough words to describe how amazing they all are.
Mum has stayed twice for respite and stats for several hours one day a week. I would not want her to stay anywhere else. The staff are so kind and dedicated, often having fun and themed events for the residents. I am so thankful for their love and devotion. Wisteria House is such a happy haven; you feel it as soon as you walk in.
All staff are so friendly and the residents are treated like members of a large family. Always have time for them however busy they are. Very good activities which often include family members. Cannot rate them highly enough.
From the moment you/I walk into the care home, you feel welcome and the atmosphere is happy and calm. The residents look happy and content. The staff are attentive to their individual needs. If I have any worries or concerns over my mother, I either ring or email the care manager and it gets dealt with and I hear back usually within twenty-four hours, mainly sooner. The staff have activity days i.e. seaside/Caribbean days. The family was invited to join in the Jubilee celebrations.
