This home is remarkable, my dad was in another home, but this by for the best. The home manager and his team, really look after my mum, her health has improved somewhat. The food is nice and there is so much variety with activities. Such a wonderful place, thank you everyone.
Such a welcoming atmosphere. As soon as you step in to the home, there is a lovely smile from the reception lady. She then took me to find my friend. Showing me around en route. I worked here in the late 1970s as a girl guide volunteer and again 1980 prior to training as a nurse. All the staff seemed so happy, friendly. A really lovely atmosphere and so different from some homes I've worked in. I was able to get refreshments for me and my friend and we had a lovely afternoon sat in the garden. I'd really recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a short or long erm break.
PLUMBING: Cold Tap broken in the food service area. Dirty plates and cutlery left for ages in the sink Taps in my husbands bathroom too small for the basin. Bathroom not checked frequently enough CLEANLINESS: .Urine left on the floor. Floor is not cleaned properly shoes stick to the surface when walking across it. Hence strong smell of urine. HEATING: No air conditioning, in the room, difficulty leaving the patio windows open. Resident lays in blazing hot sun without the curtains being pulled for shade. During the hottest of days no ice cold drinks, ice lollies were offered. MEALS: Food is terribly wasted. My husband who requires a little help e.g. needs explaination as to what is on his plate and some help with his cutlery is not given. Home care's cutlery large and cumbersome. Water jugs are not changed frequently. LAUNDRY: Towels are not always available in the bathroom. Paper Towel holder not always filled. The flat sheets slip off showing the bare mattress. SUMMARY: Sadly residents are left for ages and communication is poor between the different teams.
A very well-run care home, where the staff actually seem to have the residents' best interests at heart. The place is kept spotlessly clean, and the catering is exceptionally good. I moved Mum to this home from another and am very glad I did.
Always a pleasant visit with my wife. Cannot fault it in any way.
The place is spotless, bright and welcoming. Sadly, the only negative thing is the very strong smell of urine in the corridor on floor one when you exit the lifts. I have visited 3 times and it has 'presented' every time.
I love this care home. All the staff go above and beyond. The manager is so approachable. The care givers are amazing. Shout out to a particular member of staff. All the office staff are great too. Always happy to help. Love them all. :) x
I am very impressed with the activities on offer. They are varied and interesting. I like that there are many visitors, for example, singers, dancers who are very professional and fun. The carers are kind and friendly. The cleaning staff are lovely, as is the receptionist. There is a lovely atmosphere, and I visit my sister virtually every day. I am made welcome and enjoy myself!
A beautiful setting and superb facilities. The restaurant food is exceptional and delicious. The cafe is a good place to meet up and have a cuppa. Our friend is a resident and we stayed for about 4 and a half hours as we had lunch and then afternoon tea with hot cross buns that we brought from home Would highly recommend this Residential Care Home
All the staff at Kingsclear are friendly, helpful, and kind, both to residents and visitors. Communication relating to Mum's needs and care planning is very good. I feel confident that Mum is well cared for and safe, so I am pleased that we have been able to make Kingsclear Mums home.
My dad has just benefited from a second stay at Kingsclear. He last stayed for a week's respite in July and this time it was very last minute as we had a family medical emergency and so needed him to be cared for at short notice. The manager responded very quickly to our request and my dad was very happy to have another stay at Kingsclear. The staff were so welcoming and my dad was amazed and delighted that so many of the staff remembered him! As a family, we felt very happy knowing that all his needs were met. He has Parkinson's and has quite a regime of medication but this was all dealt with very professionally by a particular staff member. My dad loves his food and had nothing but praise for all his meals and we, as a family, felt that the refreshment station provided in reception was a lovely touch and made it more like meeting in a coffee shop, than a facility! Kingsclear is a lovely place with great grounds and kind and caring staff!
Since my Mum became a resident in January 2024. I have nothing but praise for Kingsclear. All of the team I deal with are very friendly, keep me informed, and provide a superb level of care for her.
My parents have both been in the care home for a few years now and we have been very pleased with the care and support they have both received but even more so yesterday when my father passed away. The nurses and staff were absolutely amazing! So very kind, caring, and considerate to my father, and even though he wasn't conscious they were talking to him telling him what they were doing, and being very gentle with him. They were also so kind and supportive to us siblings and even more so once my father passed. Their compassion was very touching and I couldn't have wished for my father to have been in any better care. So a big thank you to all who were involved, you brought light to our very dark day.
Since moving my Mother-in-law to Kingsclear her life has changed dramatically. Before, she would not be encouraged to leave her bed or take part in any activities. The staff didn't really even get to know her as a person. Within 3 days of being at Kingsclear she has had a shower, taken part in arts and crafts, made lots of new friends and has a new lease of life. The staff has been absolutely amazing. All so friendly and genuinely lovely. She hasn't once mentioned her old flat (which used to be daily before). I can't thank everyone enough for all they have done, even just in the last two months. The food is also delicious!
We visited our friend for coffee and was pleasantly surprised at how really comfortable and beautifully furnished it was. The staff were very helpful and we were made welcomed and enjoyed a very pleasant coffee morning with our friend, who seems very happy there.
My mum has been at Kingsclear for over a year now and she has gone from strength to strength. Very happy with the care provided and she has made many friends. The care team go above and beyond. The home is very clean with a very warm atmosphere.
I cannot express how wonderful this care home is, we feel very lucky to have our family member at this home. All staff are so friendly and very attentive. What makes it even more special is nothing is too much trouble.
Lovely, large rooms, clean, light and airy. Day staff are excellent, sometimes agency staff at night are less experienced.
My elderly mother was very poorly and went into Kingsclear initially for respite. She was made to feel very welcome by all the staff, so much so, she decided to stay. She has a beautiful room, the carers are amazing and the food is so good, that she has put on some weight at last. The fee is standard for this area, but Kingsclear beats the competition with the extras they lay on such as the activities and the bistro. As a relative, we are also welcomed into the fold by staff and residents alike. My mother is very happy there and the stress of worrying if she is ok on a daily basis has been alleviated. As a family, we are all extremely happy with the whole package and would not hesitate to recommend them.
When my mother entered Kingsclear, she was very poorly, following an operation and period of time in hospital. Immediately the staff made her feel welcome and cared for. She had lost weight in the period up to arriving at the home but with the impressive menu choices she has regained strength and energy. The nursing care from the outset has been amazing, with everyone being kind and considerate. Her room is very light and beautiful with access to outside which has aided her healing and recovery. The outside space is a wonderful addition to the home and sets it apart from some of the other homes we looked at. The Bistro area at the entrance to the building is light and airy and provides space for conversation and relaxation with relatives and friends.
