View Full Details of Oak Manor Care HomeWhen we began looking into care for our mum, we turned to friends and people in the local area for advice. Oak Manor was mentioned again and again. When speaking to the receptionist and manager, we were made to feel very welcome. Our mum was offered a place in July, and we moved her in. It was a difficult and worrying time, but the staff made it a lot easier. They made mum very welcome and have taken excellent care of her. No matter what part of the team, you are met with a smile and a word of welcome. It has been a relief for us to know mum is being cared for and beginning to settle in. Thank you.
The care my Aunt is receiving from Oak Manor is of an exceptional standard. All of the staff are so caring and responsive to my Aunts needs. At times her distress of her dementia is upsetting to see but the staff are always supportive both of her but also are very caring towards family. We go away from the home feeling a huge sense of relief but contentment of knowing that she is receiving the upmost care and attention. Thank you all at Oak Manor, we are all so grateful to all of your lovely staff.
Having visited Oak Manor some months ago, my sister Margaret moved in on a 3 week trial in early June. She settled so well that she asked to stay. Margaret has been very happy at Oak Manor and is eating and sleeping well. The staff from the top down are wonderful, kind and understanding. Lastly, the care home is so clean it could be a hotel!
A year ago my elderly mother was in a private flat and unable to cope, due to lack of mobility, severe hearing loss and mental decline. My sister and I visited several care homes in the area, and noticed how much more engaged with residents the staff at Oak Manor seemed compared to the others. That first impression is reinforced on every visit. The staff all seem to enjoy their work and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are incredibly kind and patient with my mother, who can often be moody and difficult, and always have time to chat with me. Oak Manor is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Her room is a good size and the ensuite bathroom is always immaculately clean. One of many examples of staff going the extra mile happened on Christmas Day 2024. I'd left it too late to book a restaurant for lunch, so staff carried a dining table and chairs into the room, and served up a 3-course traditional Christmas dinner complete with table decorations! Oak Manor are a class act.
Our mother was a resident for 3 and a half years and died on Tuesday 26th August. Every member of staff we dealt with was kind supportive and gave her much love and affection. The senior colleagues dealt with the circumstances efficiently and with the utmost empathy.
From the moment we made contact with Oak Manor to the recent visit, we have been impressed with the professionalism, care and friendliness of the management and care staff. At an extremely difficult time for our family, Oak Manor have supported us and our mother to make the transition from our own home, to hospital, and now to care home as easy as it could be.
We have only just started to get involved with Oak Manor, but have had a great experience so far. I have been surprised by how resident focused all the carers and managers are. Dealing with people there has been very easy.
My granddad has been in Oak Manor care home for 6 years. During this time, he has received the highest level of care and been treated with respect, compassion and kindness from every single member of Oak Manor team. This has been a constant reflection in his wellbeing. The facilities are always immaculately clean and you can clearly see every member of the team working together to ensure the highest standards of care.
My mother has been a resident of Oak Manor for almost 6 years and we have always found all the staff and management to be totally committed to providing the utmost level of care. Visitors are always made welcome. The staff are always upset and clearly happy in their working environment which reflects positively on the residents. Thank you to the manager and the team for all you do!
Oak Manor is a fresh, clean, bright and airy place. The staff are friendly and fun. We always feel able to approach them and feel that mum is safe and loved. On one occasion our mother suffered a bad turn and was not expected to live, the staff were finishing a 12 hr shift. They all came by at the end of their shift and waited in line to see her for 15-20 minutes to say hi and possibly bye. It was so touching. It is a lovely place and we feel very lucky to have found it. Our mum is very happy there.
A very well run and happy environment, where all the residents are cared for with love respect and dignity. My mother has resided in Oak Manor for several years now and is very happy, loves the activities and being valued.
Following a fall, which fractured a hip, my mum has been cared for and rehabilitated in conjunction with a physiotherapist, with the utmost care and compassion. She is determined to walk on her own again, and often forgets she has had a hip replacement. Not to single anyone out particularly, but thanks go to the seniors and staff on Sessile Unit for their unwavering care, even if mum's having a difficult day.
My dad has been a resident at Oak Manor for almost 6 years now, I cannot express enough how well my dad is looked after, every member of staff are so friendly and always take the time to speak to dad, make him laugh and have banter with him even though he has very limited speech and is very deaf. Nothing is too much trouble, whenever I visit my dad, I always feel like its home and leave with a warm feeling my heart. This is my dads family, I cannot have asked for any more. Thank you Oak Manor! xxx
A wonderful afternoon with the entertainment staff. Amazing singers, carers and clients enjoying the singalong and dancing. I feel so fortunate for my mum to be in such a caring environment. Big thank you to everyone.

Oak Manor, Shefford is an exemplary Care Home. We cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful manager and her staff. Sadly Mum wasn't a resident for very long. However, every single member of staff (especially the carers but also all the other staff) were caring, kind, thoughtful, gentle and compassionate towards not only our Mum but also myself and my brother. Mum passed away peacefully in a lovely bedroom surrounded by some of her personal belongings and I was able to be at her bedside the whole time. Oak Manor is maintained with the utmost care and attention. The environment is homely, the food is delicious, the staff appear to enjoy working there and, by their own admission, are like one big happy family. They genuinely 'care' about their residents and want it to feel like 'home'. They engage with the residents and the regular activities enhance their quality of life. A big thank you to the manager and all her staff. We wouldnt hesitate in recommending Oak Manor.
I have no words to express my gratitude to everyone who made Vaisakhi so special for mum. A very important Sikh celebration. One staff member collected a special meal from London Sweet Center and even paid for it to treat Mum. Another staff member and others on their shift decorated her room with lights etc. Mum was overwhelmed. Thank you so much to everyone at Oak Manor. Place my mum calls her home.
My father-in-law has been here for the last 5 months. He has settled in. Lots of things to praise. The staff are wonderful, helpful and supportive. The room is clean and private. The food is nutritious. He has gained much of the weight he lost. The management are always here to ensure standards are high.
My mum has been in this care home for a number of years, I have always been very happy with her care here. The staff are always there for, not just your parent, but also for you, if you are feeling upset seeing how your parent is deteriorating. If any problems, for example, my mum is very weak, and when she had a fall, they will call you straight away, so you are always informed of what is happening. I am very impressed with this home.
Overall an excellent care home, not just care staff but all staff; maintenance, catering and cleaning all provide a high level of care and support. In December I witnessed the activity coordinator interact with an almost comatosed, bed ridden resident, by playing the style of Christmas music she knew the resident liked. The resident responded and we all held hands and provided, literally, a touching moment at this important time of year. Such individual care and support is Oak Manor's strength.
