View Full Details of Mercia GrangeAt the start of this month, as a family myself and children/grandchildren attended Mercia Grange to celebrate my birthday. The staff gave us use of a room and provided us with all the tools to put on a bit of a party with my husband in attendance (who lives full time at the home.) It wasnt just my birthday but also the anniversary of the care home itself, despite being so busy the staff all went an extra mile to ensure we were looked after. I cannot express enough how kind and supportive the staff were on this day and have been since my husband moved into residence in December 2024,
All staff friendly and welcoming. Supportive during a very sad time for our family. Looked after my dad and us .. fed us and comforted us when we needed that extra support. Felt dad was in a safe place .
We have in the past attended several of the events at Mercia Grange and have always been met with a very warm welcome but it was earlier this year that we needed some respite care for mum and I have to say that Mum and I were delighted with the care provided. The staff were very caring and went out of their way to encourage mum to participate in activities and to make connections with other residents. The room was spacious, well decorated and had excellent facilities. Mum enjoyed the food and the company and didn't want to go home. I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to one staff member in particular, who made mum's stay possible at very short notice. Her help and kindness went above and beyond our expectations and I sincerely appreciate the time she has taken to ensure that as a family we felt supported during a difficult period.
The quality of care and the kindness of the entire team at Mercia Grange is absolutely amazing, it feels homely and welcoming and safe. We have had the privilege of experiencing a year's residency at Mercia so far and I cannot thank the entire team enough for the incredible hospitality and support they provide for our loved ones. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and letting it feel like our home too, each time we visit. You really are lifesavers.
Had a lovely visit with my Mum today. Mum was being very well looked after for breakfast and everyone knew that she loves a cup of tea. We had a lovely chat with the knit and natter group which Mum usually attends, who were making very cute bonnets for premature babies for the hospital. We then had a coffee and delicious cake in the coffee lounge. After lunch there was a special treat with the Bluebird Belle singers at a 100th Birthday party which Mom joined in and I left her happy and singing along to the 1940's songs. There is always something to join in with at Mercia Grange it's like an inclusive family and encourages everyone to get involved. I left with a smile and warm feeling that Mum was happy and cared for.
My Mum spent the last three years of her life at Mercia and it became her home. We couldn't have wished for better care for her, all the staff on Jerrard Suite were so kind, caring and good humoured no matter what, and gave Mum the dignity and security she needed. There were many amusing and happy times when we visited her and special occasions such as Mother's Day and Christmas where the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable and happy time. They ensured she was involved in the many interesting activities taking place each day and Mum particularly loved her trips to the garden centre. We will miss Mercia and the staff, who became like a family to us and to Mum.
My 99-year-old father moved into Mercia Grange 3 months ago and we've been very pleased. The care is very professional and personal, and we know that he is safe and being well looked after. The home is light and airy, very clean and tidy and feels more like a hotel than a care home - a feeling helped by the lovely meals and the amazing coffee and cakes provided in the coffee lounge. There are lots of activities available with plenty of variety and Dad chooses to go to something almost every morning and afternoon. He is very happy and content, and everyone who sees him, or sees a photo of him, says how well he looks. We really feel that we couldn't have chosen a better place for Dad to be looked after, and what makes it even more special is the team of staff. Everyone, without exception, is so happy, helpful and attentive to Dad and his needs, and their smiling faces brighten his day, and ours, whenever we visit. Thank you to everyone.
We needed as a family to try and get my parents in the same room. As one has dementia, it causes heartache and difficulties. The home bent over backwards to make the arrangement for this to happen.
After a very long time in hospital, I arrived at Mercia Grange and immediately felt very well cared for. I cannot fault the staff (that includes all staff). Nothing was too much trouble. The food was brilliant and the surroundings are beautiful, I couldn't ask for a better place to recuperate.
What can I say except THANK YOU. My mum came to Mercia Grange after a horrendous prolonged period in hospital. From the minute I spoke to a particular staff member I knew we were at the right place. As soon as my mum moved in we noticed a huge difference in her, I am convinced Mercia Grange and the incredible staff there are the reason she went from being bedridden to walking in just a month. The care was outstanding and we as a family felt truly safe in the knowledge she was being incredibly well looked after. The whole team welcomed us all with open arms and we would never be able to thank them enough. It really is an amazing place.
Our mother was cared for in the nursing suite at Mercia Grange, Sutton Coldfield, for just 5 weeks following a lengthy stay in hospital. The care that she received was exemplary and both her and my family were treated with warmth and kindness even before her admission and that gave us the confidence to know that it was the right move for her. We met some truly lovely staff and nothing was too much trouble. Always a smile too, makes such a difference. We will be forever grateful for that. The room that she had was lovely and the building is light, airy and welcoming. The activities are numerous for those able to partake and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and well-presented. There is a lovely area where residents and visitors can enjoy company and drinks, a really nice idea. I would definitely recommend this lovely establishment. Our thanks to all. The family of the resident.
There is a great team spirit at Mercia Grange, the staff are highly committed and professional, and they very genuinely do everything that they can to help. The activity programme is impressive, in particular the inter-generational opportunities such as bringing in a Parent and Toddler Group, school children to sing and the sports with a very popular chap who is superb at getting everyone to join in.
We were very worried about Nan at home before she moved into Mercia Grange, and now we do not need to worry. Nan is very well cared for, and she is always very well-presented when we come to visit! She's included in all the activities, and it's so nice to see all the photos. The most valuable part of this home is that all the staff know Nan by her name and know what she likes. She is not just a number in this home, she truly has become a part of the community.
Wonderful care home and lovely staff who go above and beyond for the residents. They plan a variety of activities and day trips and encourage residents to engage and which creates a real community feel.
The facilities are great but more importantly, the friendly and helpful staff immediately made us feel that the home had our relative's best interests at heart. From moving in the staff made sure our relative felt welcome and at home, treating her with kindness and dignity. The staff are fantastic and make the home outstanding. With Alzheimer's, it has inevitably taken time to settle but with such a caring and safe community (and great food and cakes) our relative has flourished and we soon realised this should be her forever home. The staff are like family they know and care about everyone and not only take care of physical needs but also provide lots of fun activities we soon started to see participation from chair yoga to knitting and painting, smiles for the children and animals that visit, and clapping for the entertainment too. The open door policy for any concerns is reassuring and as we cannot visit daily the staff keep us updated with photos and check in with us regularly.
Mercia Grange is a wonderful home. My mother was very unhappy when she first moved there in December 2023 as she was an extremely independent person. The facilities and staff helped her to begin to settle in and enjoy a different life when sadly she passed away. I am grateful to everyone who made her final days a better experience.
My friend came to Mercia Grange on December 22nd. Her family were made extremely welcome, and every extra effort was made by all staff to make her feel at home in her new surroundings. Christmas Day saw the family together. Her nursing care was excellent at all times. She commented on how the food was delicious, and the kitchen staff prepared omelettes for her. Her personal care was exemplary. Her laundry was beautifully presented. All of you made her stay here a very happy one. Thank you.
I always find Mercia Grange to be very lovely with a friendly atmosphere. All of the staff are very friendly and I really enjoy visiting my friend who is a resident at the home. Love it when the singers come to entertain and really enjoy getting up for a dance.
My Dad spent the last few weeks of his life at Mercia Grange. I was always greatly impressed with everything. The building, corridors, rooms and eating areas were always immaculate. The staff were always so kind, patient and helpful. Although I visited almost every day I was still updated by phone on a regular basis when there was the slightest change in my Dad's condition. He was clearly expertly monitored. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and I was relaxed knowing he was receiving the best possible care 24/7. When my Dad passed away with myself by his side I was particularly grateful to the staff on the Nursing Floor. Their help, condolences plus the dignity and respect they showed for Dad really touched my heart. Little things make a big difference - I was especially touched by the rose that was placed on his body, it was such a beautiful gesture and went with him to be cremated. I received a beautiful sympathy card as well. I cannot thank Mercia enough.
Mum has been made so very welcome by lovely staff who have been patient, gentle and reassuring at a time of transition that could have been a painful adjustment. She seems healthier and happier and is enjoying building friendships with other residents. We are so grateful for the kindness shown to Mum and to us. Mercia Grange is a lovely place to visit, it already feels like home.
