View Full Details of Alexandra HouseDuring his stay, my father was treated with kindness and respect and despite him not being partially 'happy' at moving into a home at the beginning, quickly settled in. In-between my regular visits, I received numerous update calls and always felt assured he was well looked after and in safe hands. He passed away recently however my wife and I were with him throughout. During this time, the staff were incredibly kind and considerate, alongside providing guidance, support and empathy during his final hours.
Mum was struggling to cope at home so needed some respite care. Made some enquiries on the Saturday and mum was in a lovely room by Sunday. The team were fantastic in this speedy care and took time to find out about mums life, likes/dislikes etc so they could understand her needs. Since this time , mum has now become a resident since her care needs to be ongoing. The staff are always happy to see us when we visit and are very up to date on mums day to day progress when we ask about her. So impressed with all the staff we have met, from the care home manager to anyone that assist with mums care. With lovely facilities and good views, mum is able to live her best life.
This was the first time my 95-year-old mum had used any care home for respite for four weeks. Overall, it was a great success and she would be very happy to use your service in future.
The house is kept scrupulously clean and maintained. On each of my visits every member of staff I have encountered has been helpful, positive and a delight. Thank you one and all.
My aunty was malnourished when she came to live here. Within the space of a few weeks she has put on 4kg and looks healthier than she has done in years. I cannot thank the staff enough for their love and care, it's visceral they are so attentive to her and she is now flourishing. The home is always clean tidy and the staff are always friendly and helpful. My aunty loves it here and she feels safe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Mum had to go for restbite care. On arrival at Alexandra House the centre manager helped get Mum out of the care and imediatley reasured and was kind to Mum. Her lovely staff settled Mum in as she was a little poorley. Then came to us the family and thoroughley explained everything about the facility to us whilst asking in depth questions about Mums life/likes/needs etc. We have visited many times and are allways welcomed no matter how busy the staff are. They make time for us and more importantly Mum. Excelent staff/care/quality.
My mother, May, moved in to Alexandra House on 30th December 2024. It began as a 2week respite stay as she was becoming unable to cope at home even with carers. This steadily increased to more respite and then as Mum became more and more frail she was given end of life care and sadly passed away mid February. The seven weeks that she spent at Alexandra House were blessed. My sisters my brother and I were so very very grateful to all the staff for their care, their empathy - to mum to us and to all the family who visited- their professionalism and their patience. We could not have asked for more for our dear mother in her last weeks. I cannot stress highly enough the brilliance of Alexandra House and they all have my heartfelt thanks and admiration.
I would like to submit a further review in recognition of the amazing team at Alexandra House. A few weeks ago It became sadly evident that my mum was entering her last stage of life and both immediately and seamlessly the whole team came to our aid. Mum was cared for so tenderly and we too, as her family, were cared for with such kindness and consideration. Mum received careful attention throughout the day and the night with her comfort and dignity being main priority at all times. We truly believe that due to the exemplary care given, Mum's last journey was made as restful and dignified as it could possibly be. We cannot thank you enough for your dedication and for the support that each one of you offered so generously and consistently to mum and to her family.
My mother was receiving respite care and then end of life care. Throughout this difficult time, she was treated with compassion and respect. Myself and my family were always greeted with a smile and encouraged to ask for assistance or information at any time. We were well informed and always asked if we had any needs, from concerns about mum to providing tea and cake. The care given was exceptional and always prompt and sensitive if requested. My mum was made as comfortable as was possible, liaison with health professionals was efficient and communication excellent. As a family we will always be grateful for the support given to us by all the staff, helping my mum and all of us through our most difficult time.
I think my husband is being well looked after. The building is very clean and comfortable. The activities are good, not always joining in - that's his choice!
I'm very happy with the care and entertainment at Alexandra House. Mum is happy here and safe. It's reassuring to know that my mum is being looked after well and her mind and body are being stimulated. I enjoy the coffee and pastries. Thank you all at Alexandra House.
Care Staff - Excellent. Facilities - Excellent. Cleanliness - Excellent. Food - Too many sandwiches - which can not contribute to a balanced diet and becomes monotonous. Activities - Good. Can there be more stimulating tv. programs in the lounge not just cheap afternoon tv. perhaps films, documentaries or nature. Perhaps a film club once a week + talks from locals or schools + students.
The home is always warm clean and tidy. There is always activities and outings planned. The staff are always on hand to speak to (resident of family).
My husband has been a resident at Alexandra House for 3 and 1/2 months. The ambience of the house is warm, bright and welcoming. My husband has poor mobility and needs two carers to move him. He is always treated with care and dignity. The activities organisers work very hard to provide interesting activities and are always cheerful and inclusive. The kitchen staff try hard to provide a good choice and variety of dishes.
My mother has been a resident at Alexandra House Care Home for about 10 months and has found the care she has received to be excellent, and all the staff is very kind. Last week she was unfortunately taken ill whilst out visiting friends. Whilst waiting for the ambulance, her friends called Alexandra House to advise them of the situation, and two members of staff very kindly came out immediately to help with the situation and hand over to the ambulance staff. This undoubtedly helped in ensuring she received the best urgent care at the hospital, and we are so grateful to the care home staff for going above and beyond to help my mother, who made a good recovery and was able to return to the home within a couple of days. Well done and thank you so much to all the Alexandra House staff for providing such excellent care.
From my first visit to view Alexandra House to the day I collected Mum to take her home everyone was so kind, friendly and welcoming. Not just to Mum but to me when I visited her. Mum came in to give my Dad 2 weeks of respite. By the end of the first week, my dad decided that she would have a more enjoyable Christmas there. So we extended her stay to 3 weeks. There was no fuss/drama with extending her stay. Prior to Mum's visit, I had tickets booked to take her to the Dementia cinema which landed during her stay. Again everyone ensured that Mum was ready. She had an early lunch to ensure she was ready. I can't thank/praise all the staff enough for their kindness. I would have no problems recommending Alexandra House to friends for their loved ones. Thank you.
I feel very privileged that my husband is being cared for at Alexander House. I cannot find fault with anything at this home. The staff are wonderful and very professional. For me personally, I have peace of mind knowing my husband is safe and being looked after. They treat me as part of the family within the home. It is a joy to go and visit all of them.
Always ready to listen to you and help if they can. Always with a smile and a warm welcome. Would recommend to anyone.
From the first interview before moving Mum into Alexandra House until collecting her belongings when she passed I cannot fault anyone that I came in contact with. Everyone without fail was happy, caring and genuine. They turned what could have been an awful experience into something wonderful. My mum was loved and cared for and given a much better final year than I could have imagined. Thank you everyone!
This is the second time my mother has been in respite at Alexander House. I would like to say that on both occasions it has been excellent. Staff are always friendly, caring and helpful no matter what the circumstances are. It's clean, up to date and has a great activities timetable.
