In the heart of Parkstone, Poole, Alexandra House is a safe and comfortable residential and dementia care home. This newly rebuilt home offers a pleasant and peaceful setting and a home-from-home atmosphere.

Alexandra House provides an environment where residents can feel at home, safe in the knowledge that someone is responsible for their well-being and care whilst relaxing and enjoying their surroundings with family and friends.

During his stay, my father was treated with kindness and respect and despite him not being partially 'happy' at moving into a home at the beginning, quickly settled in.

In-between my regular visits, I received numerous update calls and always felt assured he was well looked after and in safe hands.

He passed away recently however my wife and I were with him throughout. During this time, the staff were incredibly kind and considerate, alongside providing guidance, support and empathy during his final hours.

Mum was struggling to cope at home so needed some respite care.
Made some enquiries on the Saturday and mum was in a lovely room by Sunday.
The team were fantastic in this speedy care and took time to find out about mums life, likes/dislikes etc so they could understand her needs.
Since this time
, mum has now become a resident since her care needs to be ongoing.
The staff are always happy to see us when we visit and are very up to date on mums day to day progress when we ask about her.
So impressed with all the staff we have met, from the care home manager to anyone that assist with mums care.
With lovely facilities and good views, mum is able to live her best life.

My aunty was malnourished when she came to live here. Within the space of a few weeks she has put on 4kg and looks healthier than she has done in years. I cannot thank the staff enough for their love and care, it's visceral they are so attentive to her and she is now flourishing. The home is always
clean tidy and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
My aunty loves it here and she feels safe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Mum had to go for restbite care. On arrival at Alexandra House the centre manager helped get Mum out of the care and imediatley reasured and was kind to Mum. Her lovely staff settled Mum in as she was a little poorley. Then came to us the family and thoroughley explained everything about the facility
to us whilst asking in depth questions about Mums life/likes/needs etc. We have visited many times and are allways welcomed no matter how busy the staff are. They make time for us and more importantly Mum. Excelent staff/care/quality.

My mother, May, moved in to Alexandra House on 30th December 2024. It began as a 2week respite stay as she was becoming unable to cope at home even with carers. This steadily increased to more respite and then as Mum became more and more frail she was given end of life care and sadly passed away
mid February. The seven weeks that she spent at Alexandra House were blessed. My sisters my brother and I were so very very grateful to all the staff for their care, their empathy - to mum to us and to all the family who visited- their professionalism and their patience. We could not have asked for more for our dear mother in her last weeks. I cannot stress highly enough the brilliance of Alexandra House and they all have my heartfelt thanks and admiration.

I would like to submit a further review in recognition of the amazing team at Alexandra House. A few weeks ago It became sadly evident that my mum was entering her last stage of life and both immediately and seamlessly the whole team came to our aid. Mum was cared for so tenderly and we too, as her
family, were cared for with such kindness and consideration.
Mum received careful attention throughout the day and the night with her comfort and dignity being main priority at all times. We truly believe that due to the exemplary care given, Mum's last journey was made as restful and dignified as it could possibly be.
We cannot thank you enough for your dedication and for the support that each one of you offered so generously and consistently to mum and to her family.

My mother was receiving respite care and then end of life care. Throughout this difficult time, she was treated with compassion and respect. Myself and my family were always greeted with a smile and encouraged to ask for assistance or information at any time. We were well informed and always asked if
we had any needs, from concerns about mum to providing tea and cake.
The care given was exceptional and always prompt and sensitive if requested. My mum was made as comfortable as was possible, liaison with health professionals was efficient and communication excellent.
As a family we will always be grateful for the support given to us by all the staff, helping my mum and all of us through our most difficult time.

Care Staff - Excellent.
Facilities - Excellent.
Cleanliness - Excellent.
Food - Too many sandwiches - which can not contribute to a balanced diet and becomes monotonous.
Activities - Good.
Can there be more stimulating tv. programs in the lounge not just cheap afternoon tv. perhaps films, documentaries
or nature. Perhaps a film club once a week + talks from locals or schools + students.

My husband has been a resident at Alexandra House for 3 and 1/2 months. The ambience of the house is warm, bright and welcoming. My husband has poor mobility and needs two carers to move him. He is always treated with care and dignity. The activities organisers work very hard to provide interesting
activities and are always cheerful and inclusive. The kitchen staff try hard to provide a good choice and variety of dishes.

My mother has been a resident at Alexandra House Care Home for about 10 months and has found the care she has received to be excellent, and all the staff is very kind. Last week she was unfortunately taken ill whilst out visiting friends. Whilst waiting for the ambulance, her friends called Alexandra
House to advise them of the situation, and two members of staff very kindly came out immediately to help with the situation and hand over to the ambulance staff. This undoubtedly helped in ensuring she received the best urgent care at the hospital, and we are so grateful to the care home staff for going above and beyond to help my mother, who made a good recovery and was able to return to the home within a couple of days. Well done and thank you so much to all the Alexandra House staff for providing such excellent care.

From my first visit to view Alexandra House to the day I collected Mum to take her home everyone was so kind, friendly and welcoming. Not just to Mum but to me when I visited her.
Mum came in to give my Dad 2 weeks of respite. By the end of the first week, my dad decided that she would have a more
enjoyable Christmas there. So we extended her stay to 3 weeks. There was no fuss/drama with extending her stay. Prior to Mum's visit, I had tickets booked to take her to the Dementia cinema which landed during her stay. Again everyone ensured that Mum was ready. She had an early lunch to ensure she was ready.
I can't thank/praise all the staff enough for their kindness.
I would have no problems recommending Alexandra House to friends for their loved ones. Thank you.

I feel very privileged that my husband is being cared for at Alexander House. I cannot find fault with anything at this home. The staff are wonderful and very professional. For me personally, I have peace of mind knowing my husband is safe and being looked after. They treat me as part of the family
within the home. It is a joy to go and visit all of them.

From the first interview before moving Mum into Alexandra House until collecting her belongings when she passed I cannot fault anyone that I came in contact with. Everyone without fail was happy, caring and genuine. They turned what could have been an awful experience into something wonderful. My mum
was loved and cared for and given a much better final year than I could have imagined. Thank you everyone!

This is the second time my mother has been in respite at Alexander House. I would like to say that on both occasions it has been excellent.
Staff are always friendly, caring and helpful no matter what the circumstances are. It's clean, up to date and has a great activities timetable.

“Prior to joining Care South, I worked in a residential care home for 14 years where I started as a Care Assistant and progressed to Manager of the Dementia Community. I have a number of formal qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social care and in 2021, in my previous role, I won Manager of the Year at our annual awards.


My Mum was a Community Carer and gave me the push that I needed to go into the care industry, I have never looked back and love working in such a rewarding industry because every day is different. I get to meet people who all have different stories to tell, and I love making a difference in people’s lives and making sure that high-quality care is delivered daily.


I am extremely excited for the future of Alexandra House and very proud to be the Registered Manager of such a wonderful home.”
