In the heart of Parkstone, Poole, Alexandra House is a safe and comfortable residential and dementia care home. This newly rebuilt home offers a pleasant and peaceful setting and a home-from-home atmosphere.

Alexandra House provides an environment where residents can feel at home, safe in the knowledge that someone is responsible for their well-being and care whilst relaxing and enjoying their surroundings with family and friends.

The home has 58 well-appointed bedrooms, all with their own full ensuite facilities. There are charming communal areas with light and spacious lounges, dining rooms, activity areas and themed lounges, which offer a bright and welcoming environment for residents and their families.

My grandma went to Alexandra House for respite in December and the whole family were so impressed with the care home she then became a resident. The staff are truly caring, compassionate and so patient. My grandma very recently passed away and during her end-of-life care, the whole family was allowed
to be with her. Those of us who stayed for days on end without going home were incredibly well looked after by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, we were given food, drinks, emotional support and reassurance by all the staff. They made such a difficult time so much easier. The staff ensured my grandma passed away surrounded by her family in the most dignified, peaceful and respectful way. Staff sat with us and shared their memories of her, they comforted us when we were upset and they genuinely cared. I can never thank the staff enough for how they cared for my grandma until she passed away. Most importantly of all my grandma was so happy in Alexandra House - thank you all!

All the care team were excellent in looking after my mother for 6 weeks that she stayed at Alexandra House. 3 members of staff were more empathic. compassionate and caring to both Mum, Dad and I. Thank you.

All staff acted very promptly to access and admit Dad into respite in a crisis situation. They were so caring, efficient and professional at a very upsetting time for the family. Dad settled very quickly and seems very at home. Thank you.

My mother is a resident of Alexandra House. She always tells me how great the staff are at looking after her. She knows she cannot care for herself and appreciates how gentle and loving they all are to her. She also loves that they welcome our dog who is a regular visitor. They now even have dog biscuits
at the reception desk to welcome him.
The celebrations over Christmas were fantastic the staff made an incredible effort to make it special for the residents.
Whenever we visit the staff are very welcoming and ensure I am aware of any concerns with my mother’s health and well-being.
I would recommend Alexandra House to anyone and their relatives who are looking for care. Thank you to two members of staff in particular and all the staff. I really feel I should name them all, they all need recognising.

I visited with my friend who is a resident at Alexandra House for their coronation party. I can honestly say this is the best care home I've ever visited. The staff are always welcoming. The residents are happy and content. They are clearly well looked after. The vibe is calm and stress-free and I feel
totally reassured that my friend is being cared for. The visit was full of celebration, joy and positive energy.

Care was outstanding and Mum really appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the lovely clean environment. She recuperated well after a hip operation and found the support staff very good. Food and snacks were very good.

I cannot praise the staff at Alexandra House for the way both my family and Mum were treated on her last day. They were so caring, compassionate and thoughtful. Nothing was too much. We were given the private time with her but also the staff were there providing their support from numerous cups of tea
to hugs, tears, smiles and even laughter.

Mum was there just over a year. The staff have been amazing. They treated Mum with dignity, respect and compassion. They couldn't have done anything more for us as well. Mum wanted to pass at the home and not the hospital. It was as lovely as it could be. Mum called it her home which meant a lot to
us. She made friends and joined in with things. We never thought she would. Thank you so much.

There is a lovely atmosphere in Alexandra House. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble to them. They seem very happy in their jobs, which results in relaxed, contented residents. I would highly recommend Alexandra House.

I came for respite in May-June for 4 weeks and decided to stay as the staff are very caring and kind to me, also I have company as and when I want it. I do not have anything to worry about anything anymore.

The lady in charge is very helpful and has good knowledge of the practices. I feel the home is very welcoming and the staff work very hard. Also, they put on very good gatherings. The last one was the jubilee. Fantastic!

All the staff were respectful and caring to my mum in her last days. They have a difficult job working with Dementia residents, but as a team, support each other to a high standard. I would recommend this care home to any friends for their relatives.

“Prior to joining Care South, I worked in a residential care home for 14 years where I started as a Care Assistant and progressed to Manager of the Dementia Community. I have a number of formal qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social care and in 2021, in my previous role, I won Manager of the Year at our annual awards.


My Mum was a Community Carer and gave me the push that I needed to go into the care industry, I have never looked back and love working in such a rewarding industry because every day is different. I get to meet people who all have different stories to tell, and I love making a difference in people’s lives and making sure that high-quality care is delivered daily.


I am extremely excited for the future of Alexandra House and very proud to be the Registered Manager of such a wonderful home.”
