My mother was resident for 9 months until her death at the home. The care and attention she was given was genuine and compassionate from all the staff. Everyone at the home was warm and welcoming and if anything needed sorting/organising eg appointments it was done; nothing was too much trouble. The
management team were exceptional and made a difficult time much easier for us all as a family.
Reply from Rachel Wood, Head of Customer Relations at St Ives HouseThank you for your heartfelt feedback. We're truly sorry for your loss, and it means so much to know your mother received compassionate care during her time with us. We're glad our team could support both her and your family during such a difficult period, your kind words will be shared with everyone.

Dorset House is a friendly cosy feeling care home with very attentive staff.
I would like my husband to have more stimulation but he is unable to tell me what he's done so unless I question the staff I am not always getting the whole picture.
His room is very small but there are lots of different
areas to give him a change of scenery and now the weather is improving the garden is always accessible.
Reply from Rachel Wood, Head of Customer Relations at Dorset HouseThank you so much for your kind words about Dorset House. We're really pleased to hear that you find the home warm, friendly, and supported by attentive staff-that means a great deal to us.

We also truly appreciate your feedback regarding stimulation and communication. We understand how important it is for you to feel fully informed about your husband's day and experiences. In terms of activities, we're always striving to provide meaningful and engaging opportunities tailored to each resident's needs and abilities.

We're glad your husband is able to enjoy different areas of the home and the garden, especially as the weather improves. If you'd ever like to discuss his care or activities in more detail, please don't hesitate to speak with the team-we're always here to help.

I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff at Wickmeads. Each resident is cared for in such a way that all their needs, personal to them are understood and taken into account when helping them. Their habits, routines, likes and dislikes are known and taken care of. The carers are kind and patient.
The home is always clean and decorated for upcoming events and special dates. Residents are stimulated by lots of different activities and singers, cats, dogs, nursery school children etc which they enjoy greatly. My mother has been at Wickmead's for over three years, and her sister was a resident for five years until her death. I treasure the support and kindness all the staff have given me and my family over the last eight to nine years. Thank you and well done.
Reply from Rachel Wood, Head of Customer Relations at WickmeadsThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. Mum stayed at Kenwith for a 2 week respite break. The moment she arrived we knew it was the right choice for her. The staff greeted Mum with a warm welcome and her room was perfectly set up. We were invited to stay for lunch with her and when we left she was calm and content with her new surroundings.
Contact during her stay was easy, with her own landline room phone, and the staff were always helpful in giving us updates on how she was coping. Mum is now back home but she talks fondly of her stay and wishes to return for holidays and eventually as a resident. Thank you Kenwith Castle Team. You've made all of our lives easier.

Alexandra House

from Michael C (Husband of Resident) published on 11 March 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
When I was shown around Alexandra House, I was very impressed by the cleanliness, the positive attitude of the staff, the facilities and the attention to detail. My wife Dawn then spent three weeks as a resident, having respite care, and her experience proved the accuracy of my first impressions. Apart
from a few instances of me needing to check a request had been followed up, the staff set very high standards, keeping a careful eye on providing the right medication at the right time, logging all information appropriately and doing their very best to provide all the necessary care. The catering was excellent, with commendable positivity over meal times and menus according to Dawn's needs; she particularly enjoyed the cooked breakfasts! All members of staff were consistently friendly and welcoming; their positive and people-centred approach spoke of excellent management. Communication was very good. I was advised of Dawn's three minor falls in a timely fashion, and appropriate medical checks were carried out afterwards. Dawn's time in Alexandra House did her a power of good. She made real progress. We're very grateful.
Reply from Rachel Wood, Head of Customer Relations at Alexandra HouseThank you for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We're delighted to hear that the high standards, welcoming atmosphere, and person-centred care you experienced during the visit were reflected throughout the respite stay. It's wonderful to know the support, communication, and catering made such a positive difference, and that the stay helped bring real progress. Your appreciation means a great deal to the whole team.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been a resident of Wickmeads since August 2024 after her move from North Wales. She has settled in very well and the team at the home look after her needs very well. Through no fault of the home Mum has suffered with two broken hips so needs a lot of extra care and attention and this is provided
in a friendly and respectful manner. They supported her physicality by enabling her to walk using a walking frame which was undfertaken without hesitation and they welcomed her back from hospital each time as soon as was possible. Sometimes Mum can be difficult due to her dementia but the team have an understanding of how her behaviour can change and adjust their support levels accordingly. I would have no hesitation in recommending Wickmeads, it is run in a very professional way across the board. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are very well prepared, nutritious, excellent choices given and dietary needs supported.

We're delighted to hear that your mum has settled in well since moving to Wickmeads and that our team has been able to support her needs with care, respect, and understanding. Your recognition of our team's approach to dementia care, rehabilitation, and nutrition means a great deal to us. Thank you for your recommendation and for trusting us with your mum's care.

Dad has been cared for in Alexandra House for 18 months. I cannot speak highly enough of the amazing staff that support him. Management, admin, and carers are handpicked. Dad loves his minibus outings! Staff above and beyond our expectations. I am kept informed of his health and daily life. Everyone
is approachable, and nothing is too much trouble. Staff are knowledgeable, caring, kind and upbeat - a perfect team. 100% happy!

My dad was here for respite care after leaving hospital before he went home. What an amazing place. Everyone was kind and caring, helping him to rebuild his confidence and strength without pushing him. He could not have asked for more - laundry done every day, plenty of activities if he wanted to join
in, comfortable rooms, lots of different areas to go and sit - the list is endless.
If neccessary I wouldn't hesitate to arrange for him to stay again.
