Review of Castle Dene from Gemma C (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
After several tooth infections my mum had a an appointment at the dental centre. Although not the normal practice to send a carer one was granted and this was excellent. Kerry was the staff member and she was brilliant. It was a disorientating experience for my mum and Kerry was a point of normalisation. Mum obviously knew her and liked her. She was the only one able to persuade mum to put her chin on a rest. Kerry clearly knew my mum and was exceptionally tuned into her.

It was definitely a 3 person job. Kerry was a calming and caring presence on a very stressful trip. Thank you Kerry.

Reply from Rachel Wood, Head of Customer Relations at Castle Dene

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're so pleased that Kerry was able to provide such compassionate support and help make what was clearly a stressful appointment a little easier for your mum. Your kind words mean a great deal, and we'll be sure to pass your thanks on to Kerry and the team.

I cannot praise the staff at Wickmead enough. They are so caring and have made the transition into full time care for my family member as good as it can be. The welcome was lovely.
They have got to know my family member and now tailor everything to her needs.

Everything has been excellent from the moment we went through the doors.

Mum has been at Talbot View for the past 4 years and during that time I can honestly say I have been very happy with her care. Of cause inevitably on occasion there are minor issues crop up, but those have always been resolved to our satisfaction. The new management are a huge improvement to the previous one, and always happy to listen and make time for me - which is much appreciated. Well done to all of you!

Review of Wickmeads from Colin Y (Brother of Resident) published on 15 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Over the last 3 months my brother has been a resident in Wickmeads we have found the level of care to be excellent. The staff are very caring and friendly and he feels safe and well looked after.

The home has spacious rooms and communal areas with beautiful decor and everything is spotlessly clean.

The surrounding garden areas are a very pleasant place to spend time and are extremely well kept with plenty of seating and shaded areas.

All in all we would highly recommend Wickmeads to anyone looking for a Care Home for their loved one.

Review of Talbot View from J T (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Mum lived at Talbot View for over three years. Her room was brightly decorated and she was able to bring her own drawers and bookcase with her, this gave a homely feel to her experience. In comparison to other care homes, the building is spacious and 'airy'. We very much enjoyed the garden too. Talbot View provided the best care they could for Mum, always respectful of her routine, wishes and character, relationships were 'built' up over the years, there was amazing trust. The Care Assistants are down to earth, professional and a credit to Care South.

Review of Talbot View from A J (Son of Resident) published on 13 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Talbot View was by far the best option for our mother, having looked at several other homes in the Bournemouth area. The home has the ambience of a small hotel, rather than a care home. The food is superb, especially as mother has dietary requirements. It offers a good selection on the menu, for breakfast, lunch and tea.
There are daily options for activities, and the staff are attentive, kind, and really interested in our mother and her life's story. There is space for group activities, as well as personal space for quiet times. Many activities are delivered by the home care team, whilst guest visitors provide an outside interest for residents.

There is a beautiful garden, easily accessible to mother and it has garden furniture and sunshades which makes her visits to the garden very enjoyable. We are delighted with our choice of a safe, comfortable, and caring community for this stage of mother's life. The administration and management is efficient, calm and confident.

My mother-in-law has been a resident of Dorset House since 13th January 2026. She shares my belief that she is being well cared for. It has been pleasing to see how quickly care staff have come to know and understand her as an individual, making our conversation with them regarding her care that much easier. She really enjoys her food, and the activities on offer.

Overall Experience

My Father has been a resident at St Ives, since January 2025, after my Mum passed away. He has Dementia and before he moved to St Ives, was struggling to cope. He took a few weeks to settle and is now happy. All of the staff are kind, attentive, proactive, welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad is constantly being attended to and encouraged to live a full life, with activities and socialising. My sisters and I would highly recommend using St Ives, whether for residency or respite. We visit Dad often, knowing that when we leave him, he is being cared for in every way. Thank you to every member of staff, who makes up the team.

My mums care I can only say was adequate. She was in this care home for around 18 months before she passed away. In that time I had need to call adult social services 3 times. Due to my mums poor health it was decided not to unsettle her and move her. Mum had poor health and was not mobile so needed to be hoisted, Some staff could be a little rough with her when changing or moving her, which I had spoken to senior staff about. On one occasion a member of my family after visiting was in tears as a member of staff was so rude to her that I had need to put in an official complaint, I would go in and help mum with eating her dinner, I noticed that some residents would eat barely any food which would be thrown in the bin. I did challenge a member of staff one day when a resident ate nothing and the whole plate of food went in the bin, the answer I got was she is tired. It has been a stressful and sometimes unhappy 18 months. Some staff were kind to mum and the family to which I thank

As soon as we entered Elizabeth House we notice the lovely, friendly atmosphere and on having a tour and meeting members of staff and seeing all the facilities on offer we knew this was the care home for mum. Sadly mum passed away not long after she moved in - we only wish she had decided to move in earlier when she was more able so she could have enjoyed all that was on offer. Everyone at Elizabeth House were brilliant to her and us.

Dad enjoyed his stay at Elizabeth House, found the staff very friendly and helpful towards him. He recently had more issues with his short term memory and as a family we felt happy that he was in a safe and secure environment although there were issues a couple of times with the lift not working properly restricting movement from first floor. He was very satisfied and enjoyed his meals, as he had spoken to the head chef and adaptions were made to suit his diet requirements. He loved the garden for walking around. Good activities on offer and management team always polite and helpful.
