In the heart of Parkstone, Poole, Alexandra House is a safe and comfortable residential and dementia care home. This newly rebuilt home offers a pleasant and peaceful setting and a home-from-home atmosphere.

Alexandra House provides an environment where residents can feel at home, safe in the knowledge that someone is responsible for their well-being and care whilst relaxing and enjoying their surroundings with family and friends.

The home has 58 well-appointed bedrooms, all with their own full ensuite facilities. There are charming communal areas with light and spacious lounges, dining rooms, activity areas and themed lounges, which offer a bright and welcoming environment for residents and their families.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time and that can offer advice and support if you have any questions regarding the care of a loved one.

It's a difficult decision to hand over the care of your elderly Mum to a residential home. It was only for 4 weeks respite to cover the time before, during and after our holiday. Everyone needed a break and Mum needed to evaluate whether home or care was the right place for her.
I must say the whole
process was fully explained by the manager and I felt very welcome even though my visit was an unscheduled pop in to just view the home and see what may or may not be possible.
4 weeks respite was agreed, even Mum was happy with the proposed choice of home and decided not to go for a visit before the first day of her 4-week stay.
She enjoyed her stay and everyone who went to visit said how relaxed and well she looked. We were all impressed with the level of staff on duty, the quality of the surroundings and the number of activities arranged for the residents.
Whilst Mum is now back home, I know she isn't adverse to another stay at Alexandra House so who knows what might happen.

Happy to see mum is always dressed nicely and made comfortable in her chair. Always made welcome by all staff when visiting. Staffing ratios always appear to be up together and I am always kept aware of any matters arising from my mother's care.

My father initially went to Alexandra House for respite care but feels so safe and happy there that he has decided to stay permanently. The staff are absolutely amazing and go over and above, the environment can only be described as luxurious, there are so many events and trips and there is such a positive
atmosphere.

My mum was at this home for a short time and settled in very quickly. The staff are all lovely and so helpful and caring to everyone. You were made to feel welcomed whenever you visited. It is lovely and clean and decorated very pleasantly. More like a 5-star hotel. In the time my mum was here she gained
weight and got mobile again with a frame. Thank you.

I had a week's respite care here and I can honestly say it felt like a holiday. The staff were so caring and I was treated very well.

After looking at numerous homes we knew straight away Alexandra House was the one.
Mum sent in in March and since then she has returned to being her old self. Cannot praise the staff enough for the care and commitment to the residents. We wanted mum to spend the end of her life being happy and content
and thanks to everyone this has happened. Thank you for returning our mum back to us.

My respite stay has proved valuable as I have been able to observe the care provided for permanent residents. I now know at what stage I will need that level of care.
Until then, I will be happy to treat Alexander House as a "holiday home".
We may have a past and an uncertain future but the staff
here do their best to provide us with a pleasant present.

A well designed light and airy home from home.


Mum has been a resident at Alexandra House since it reopened in 2018. Every effort was made to help her transition from another care home as stress free as possible. The staff are kind, considerate and very patient, they have the taken time to get to

know mum and what her likes and dislikes are. It it a huge relief knowing mum is being well cared for 24/7.

I feel that Mum has found a new home from home. The staff are very kind and considerate, they are very aware of the stress that comes from a relative moving into a care home and have gone to great lengths to make this process as easy as possible for Mum and the rest of the family.

Beautiful place. Dining room more like a canteen. Staff eating with residents and picking at food from serving dishes. Needs more discipline in the dining room.

An excellent, bright, friendly, caring atmosphere with approachable, helpful caring staff who treat residents with kindness and dignity. The only issue is the standard of catering/food since the departure of the original chef (May/June 2018).

Mum has been resident in Alexandra House for nine weeks now. She has settled in much better than I expected, mostly due to the great care taken by the staff. It has been a huge relief to know that mum is being well cared for 24/7. I would recommend anyone looking for residential care in the area to

My husband was resident for two weeks for respite. Good welcome and very nice room. Good listening to his requirements. Very well cared for and always complimentary about him. Immaculate and always clean and tidy. Food excellent. Definitely, the best care home of the other five he has been in.

The overall standard is excellent. Staff very helpful and willing; my wife has improved since coming. However, getting in is akin to getting into Fort Knox. Quite often taking 5-10 minutes and only after phoning them on mobile.

“Prior to joining Care South, I worked in a residential care home for 14 years where I started as a Care Assistant and progressed to Manager of the Dementia Community. I have a number of formal qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social care and in 2021, in my previous role, I won Manager of the Year at our annual awards.


My Mum was a Community Carer and gave me the push that I needed to go into the care industry, I have never looked back and love working in such a rewarding industry because every day is different. I get to meet people who all have different stories to tell, and I love making a difference in people’s lives and making sure that high-quality care is delivered daily.


I am extremely excited for the future of Alexandra House and very proud to be the Registered Manager of such a wonderful home.”
