View Full Details of Lavender FieldsMy contact with Lavender Fields has been for the past 3 years. In the past 2 years there has been several temp managers. I have seen several members of staff arrive and depart during this period. 3 months ago a new manager was appointed. It now appears that a period of stability has commenced which is reassuring especially with the closure of a home nearby. I would like to thank all of the staff at the home who always have been so kind and considerate for my relative despite the changes and challenges it is really appreciated. I just hope that the senior management recognise and support their fantastic staff.
My mother has been in Lavender Fields for nearly five years and we have not had any complaints about her care. The staff on her floor have all been caring to her and friendly with us. There seems to have been a lot of problems in setting a permanent head of the home but hopefully the latest will be good. There have also been some problems with paying the bills but they seem to be satisfactory now.
I'm am disappointed at the level of care given to my relative. There is no consistency in care a large turn over of staff. Pore and non existent management, no explanations as to high turnover of management. My relative has been in this care come for 2 1/2 years and has spent over £300k on care. We were told when she entered the home it was a home for life however this is NOT the case. After a stay in hospital due to negligence of staff she has been refused return. Management still a week later have provided no explanation or will even engage with us. All her things are in her room. They are only interested in your money. On the surface it's lovely but they really don't care. Residents are just a cash cow. Avoid at all costs. It's a shame only a bad review will actually get a phone call from management.
Our experience with staff has found them caring supportive and friendly. Their tasks carried out efficiently but making sure dignity of resident and comfort are at maximum. They listen and take on board any information we have given to help them converse or understand mum's speech. Any questions we have had have been answered.
Sorry to say, I would not recommend this home in any way, shape or form. When visiting relatives suggest check personal hygiene such as fingernails, teeth and smell. A requested care plan for hydration should be adhered to as should the correct administration of medication. If the resident has difficulty with swallowing as my wife did surely food can be blended and resident encouraged to eat and drink rather than relatives sent out to shops to purchase pots of yoghurt and cream. I would suggest proper care was non-existent. Clothing and other items went missing. And despite numerous reminders in writing, the clothing was never found or returned. There was bullying in the home and mobility aids were unavailable; there was a distinct unfriendly atmosphere.
My mother had been at Lavender Fields for just over a year. The staff made her very comfortable and as she came to the end of her life they showed enormous affection and care. I cannot express sufficiently how impressed I was. My mother was aged 100 at the time of her passing.
The home arranged for my elderly mother to visit her elder sister in another care home; arranging transport and day care. They hadn't been able to see each other for several years and without the care and support of Lavender Fields this would not have been possible. My mum has settled into Lavender Fields very easily and the care provided is exceptional. The staff are always available to assist residents and to help relatives with queries and understanding of the care system. It is a beautiful care home, with a range of activities and caring staff. I would highly recommend it.
We recently had to say goodbye to our lovely mum, shortly before her 103rd birthday, after five years and eight months living in Lavender Fields. Having had a stroke at 97 and the subsequent sale of her beloved house, Mum was really not happy to find herself at Lavender Fields. However, nothing was too much in order to make Mum feel at home, in her own lovely room, with her own possessions. She gradually adjusted, enjoying the companionship, meals, activities, hairdresser, manicure, FaceTime on her tablet and her visitors. We found the occasional management/relatives meetings to be very useful. The new management is a positive improvement. There are too many wonderful carers to mention individually, save to say that Mum's care, particularly in the latter months was exceptional. Mum was very closely monitored in those last few weeks, and treated with loving care, dignity, compassion and understanding. We are so grateful and we thank you all. We made the right choice with Lavender Fields.
My Mother lived in Lavender Fields for the last 8 months of her life. Once settled she never complained of care, comfort, and those looking after her. She left her home at age 103, I could no longer except she was safe there. I never had any regrets introducing her to Lavender Fields the whole setup. She did not make life easy for the staff at first naturally she ended up loving them all. I have nothing but thanks and the dignity she was shown when she peacefully went to sleep in her chair was a credit to all involved. Thank you all.
Since Covid I feel that the opportunities for trips out (even short walks) have disappeared. The food on offer every day can be good to very poor, consistency is needed here as with good ingredients recipes can be easily made to be tasty and appetising. The lack of permanent staff and a manager is unsettling and use of agency staff does not allow residents to build relationships.
We were so relieved when Lavender Fields accepted my sister-in-law, she had come from another care home where she had some horrific injuries. She was greeted with open arms by the caring staff.
The care my mother has and continues to receive is exceptional. The staff are amazing and treat my mother with such care and compassion. Nothing is too much trouble and she enjoys being looked after, well fed, and having company. My mother is safe and at peace knowing there is always someone there to help her. I cannot recommend Lavender Fields enough.
I have found the care exceptional. My mother has been in Lavender Fields for 2 years and I am very happy with the care and we have had some challenging situations.
It's hard to have confidence in care looking after your loved one (especially after the horrific events my mother suffered in her last care home.) But I am thrilled to share my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible care now being provided to my mum at Lavender Fields their care and compassion have helped all of us so much. The care and compassion shown to all of the residents by all the amazing staff a Lavender Fields is fantastic. The residents are safe and treated with dignity at all times The home itself is an amazing place equipped with all the facilities needed. The care team keep me updated all the time on how my mum is doing and my mum now feels safe and at home there. There are plenty of activities laid on for the residents. While visiting my mum in Lavender Fields we always feel loved and welcomed by all of the staff who do anything they can help to support my mum and her family. Many thanks to all of the amazing staff at Lavender Fields.
I am very happy with the attention my husband receives. I do not have much cause to speak to management as the care staff responds to everything I need. Very high standard.
The staff are friendly and caring. The rooms and corridors are always clean and airy. There is a good range of activities for residents, although a few more regular outings for residents would be very beneficial. The food is excellent - varied, nutritious and very tasty. Safety measures for handling residents are adhered to and most residents appear to be settled, comfortable and contented in spite of their many and varied conditions. The balconies/terraces need some attention but I gather this is being looked into once the weather improves.
Both my mother and father joined Lavender Fields in April. It was a huge transition for them after 70 years in the family home and still independent into their 90s. We, therefore, looked at many homes for their suitability, and Lavender Fields was instantly our choice.
I have found this residential home wonderful. On every visit, we have been warmly welcomed. The staff on the second floor are lovely and have been very helpful to us and the residents. I found the food to be tasty and always enjoy joining my mother-in-law for lunch. The home is clean, bright and comfortable, and I would love to be able to live here when the time is right!
Mum has only been a resident for three months, but I have been very impressed by Lavender Fields. The environment is safe and spotlessly clean. The staff are wonderful, friendly and open but thoroughly professional. I would recommend it to anyone.
We feel so lucky to have found Lavender Fields for my mother, she has been there now for two years and we cannot speak highly enough of the staff, facilities and care that has been given to her especially with the unforeseen circumstances that has gripped us all in this last year. The entertainment programmes and communication with relatives has been first class and a credit to the health care industry.
