View Full Details of Mossdale ResidenceMy mum has been living in Mossdale for some time now and I genuinely couldn't ask for a better place for her. The staff are simply wonderful - warm, caring and always go the extra mile to make her feel safe, valued and loved. The atmosphere is cheerful and welcoming and there's a real sense of community. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing she's surrounded by such kind hearted people everyday. Truly a home full of heart!
Mum has been in a year - she loves it. The staff are so kind and caring. The moment you step in the door you see smiles. Mum loves the activities, food and atmosphere.
I have found the staff and management, and carers kind, helpful and supportive. The facilities are adequate and cover most people's needs.
Very impressed staff lovely.
The sign on the entrance says they are over staffed, in my opinion, Mossdale is understaffed. Mum has has several injuries in the last few months & no one can tell me how they've happend, I find this bizarre as if they are being cared for, which is what we're paying for (at a cost of over £6,000 per month!) my opinion, someone should be with them and monitoring them constantly. On one visit, I was there for over 2 hrs & in this time, only saw 1 carer twice for a total of 4 minutes, ! We've spent hundreds of pounds on clothing recently on shoes, slippers and clothing, then labeled it all to find most has gone missing and found several items in my mums wardrobe thst aren't hers. There's also an expensive gold ring gone missing from my mums finger as well, we were also told there were day trips out from Mossdale as well but I've never seen one, seriously contemplating moving mum from here as they only seem interested in profit, not care. Food is also bad, mum's now 6st from 10.
Mossdale is a well-presented care home. The staff are always polite and attentive towards visitors and residents. I find it's always a pleasant experince when visiting.
All very good.
Dad was in Mossdale for an assessment for 28 days. He was very settled there and well looked after. The staff on his floor enjoyed his wit and cheeky humour. The food was very good with lots of choice and rooms comfortable. The home manager and receptionist were very helpful.
My experience of Mossdale and it's staff was an extremely positive one. The staff were all very warm and welcoming and my sons and I knew, straight away, this was the right place for their dad, and what turned out to be, his end-of-life care needs. His short stay was comfortable, dignified and peaceful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful care home to anyone.
The staff are willing to listen to minor complaints. More activities are needed. Rooms need to be more guarded due to theft between residents.
Everyone is friendly and inviting. Only negative comment - no receptionist over the weekends ... takes staff away from care duty.
My dad has been on the dementia unit for two weeks for respite care. There seems to be a serious lack of staff, dementia patients were left wandering around with no staff to be found, one resident became ill, a visitor to the care home sat her down and then ran around trying to find a member of staff. On one visit, two residents were arguing and one hit the other with a hairbrush, again no staff were anywhere to be found. On one visit, my dad was still in bed when I arrived at 11.30 am, eventually, I found a member of staff to get him ready for lunch at 12.15, no one had been to check on him or was aware he was still in bed. Finally, on the day he came home, we received a call to say they had given him too much of one of his medications for the last five days! The only activity we witnessed in the two weeks was a member of staff arrived one afternoon with some paper Easter eggs and colouring pens put them on the table, disappeared and didn't return. We would not use this care home again.
During what is a very traumatic and difficult time, we have been treated with the utmost respect and empathy. All staff have been extremely friendly, professional and sympathetic tending to Dad's needs. Having visited other care homes, Mossdale is more like a five-star hotel. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the bedrooms are perfect, with ensuite wet rooms. The food is exceptional with lots of variety. Very impressed with all aspects of Mossdale.
The home is immaculate throughout and has a wonderful homely feel. With several beautifully appointed, comfortable lounges. The staff are welcoming and very caring, ensuring that Mum was included in all activities. I would highly recommend Mossdale to anyone looking for the best possible care for their loved ones.
My father was cared for over a period of two weeks. He found it difficult to adapt and settle, but the staff were patient and caring with him, meeting all the needs he expressed. We were confident that my father was safe and being looked after by caring and committed staff.
My mum's only been a resident for just over 2 weeks. Overall, the home is lovely and all staff are very good and caring. My mum has settled in really well and seems happy. The only issue we seem to have is the TV in her room (since she came to the home), signal problems and unable to get the channels she's always watched at her own home.
I visited my elderly friend at Mossdale every week for over a year and each visit I was impressed by the care and friendship that my friend was receiving. She was clean and dressed to her usual high standards, encouraged to socialise, spoken to with respect by the staff and treated with kindness at all times. My friend never complained about the staff although she did sometimes grumble about the food. Her room was warm and comfortable. It was easy for her to move around the ground floor and enjoy conversation and coffee with the other residents. Thank you for looking after my friend so well.
At the age of 99 my Mum spent the last few weeks of her life at Mossdale Residence. She received excellent care at that time and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Without exception, all the staff were very caring and attentive to Mum and they all did their best to make her stay as comfortable as possible. As well as looking after Mum the staff were concerned about us as a family and they did their best to make our situation as pleasant as possible.
My 99-year-old Mum’s stay at Mossdale was just a few short weeks but our family was extremely pleased with the care she received. The staff were always pleasant, caring and empathetic to her needs. They treated her with respect and she retained her dignity until the end. Thank you to all involved in making her final days comfortable and for accommodating so many of our family throughout her stay. We highly recommend this care home. I have given 3 stars for food and drink because my Mum was in her latter days and didn’t eat much at all. She was, however, always offered meals or nutritional drinks.
My mum was in Mossdale for fifteen months and the staff treated her at all times in a friendly, caring and thoughtful way. At the end of her life, they were brilliant with her and our family.
