View Full Details of Barchester Crandon Springs Care HomeI went for 1 week respite care only, unfortunately cannot afford the costs on my limited income. I have been diagnosed with Huntingsdon disease and at my wits end wondering how or where I will end up!
Mum was with you for the shortest of times, however, during her brief stay in Crandon Spings she could not have been made to feel more welcome or comfortable. A huge thank you to all the staff involved in her care.
My father has been in Crandon Springs for 5 months and he settled in very quickly. I visit a couple of times a week and the staff have become part of my family - they are so friendly and accommodating. I would happily recommed Crandon Springs to any friends of mine.
Disappointing start - misled over rooms available & how medication was to be managed. Concerns dealt with quickly and professionally. Staff respectful, encouraging independence but always available to help I felt comfortable and safe and would be happy to come again for respite care
My family had a Sunday lunch with my father (Fathers Day) The food & service was excellent. A very enjoyable experience. Thank you.
My father has stayed at Crandon Springs several times for respite support. All staff have always remembered him and give him a warm and generous welcome, ensuring he is included in a variety of stimulating activities. His medical needs vary, and care is given to ensure they are met. Though he reluctant to leave his house, he is happy to stay at Crandon Springs and we feel secure when he is there. (A big thank you to all staff). He is also welcomed between stays to attend activities as a 'day-visitor', which he finds very stimulating.
I am absolutely delighted to have my friend in the care of Crandon Springs Care Home. She seems to be having a great time with the numerous musical afternoons, singing and dancing and generally mixing well with other Residents. The Activities team do a fantastic job integrating the Residents so that they mix well and are kept busy whilst still having one-to-one sessions to make them feel individual. Also, the day trips out to Garden Centres and country walks take advantage of the lovely Somerset countryside as well as trips into Wells itself. When I visit, everyone makes me feel so welcome and cannot do enough to support us. It is just like an extended family. Thank you for all you do.
My in-laws have been at Crandon Springs since Dec 2024 initially as respite but are now permanent residents. They have been treated with dignity and kindness by everyone as have we during a very traumatic time. The home itself feels more like a hotel than a care home, there are no chairs in circles, peeling paint or offensive odours as we saw on visit to other homes. Most importantly we know that they are they are safe, warm, fed and cared for. They are treated by the staff as you would hope they'd look after their own family. If there are any concerns they are addressed promptly and we are kept up to date. Dogs are welcome which means we can bring our dog in for visits and there are always biscuits awaiting her in reception as well as plenty of fuss and cuddles from the staff. We just wish they would join in with more of the activities! Dad moans that there aren't any activities for the men and there aren't many men in the home to talk to. More staff would be good for all.
My mother in law is a resident in Crandon Springs and has been there for 9 months. In that time we have seen a considerable improvement from when she first arrived. She is now joining in with singing activities and smiling and laughing. As well as putting on weight with all the fabulous food. All the staff are so lovely and caring, we are so lucky.
Crandon Springs, is a lovely care home. Calm, professionally staffed and well equipped. The activities for residents are excellent. Well organised varied and staffed by very well trained carers. They are entertaining, caring and everyone's needs are considered.
One week of respite care. Staff most helpful. The visit was a real success with my wife contented and well cared for. I have sampled the food (lunch on the final day) and can vouch for careful presentation and tasty. Suitable helping size for low activities persons.
We recently used Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home for a respite stay for my mother. She is a very reluctant respite stayer in general and we have used various other homes in the past. We found Crandon Springs to be excellent, a lovely environment to stay in and like being in a hotel for a week. The staff and management were friendly, kind and professional. I was able to relax in the knowledge that she was safe and well cared for in a nice, caring, friendly environment, we will definitely be using Crandon Springs again.
I came for three weeks of respite while my broken wrist was healing. My room was very smart and comfortable and the care staff were very kind and friendly and efficient. Meals were mostly good and care was taken to cater for my intolerances. I had three delightful companions at my table with lovely conversations and I enjoyed all the varied activities that kept us entertained and exercised. I also had the freedom to come and go as I pleased to pursue outside activities and packed lunches were prepared if I missed a meal. Altogether, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was sad to leave.
This is my first experience of a care home, especially one with a dedicated, good medical floor. I have found all staff very hardworking, kind but at times, appearing overworked. The fact that medical help is readily available is comforting, the rooms are very comfortable, clean and suitably furnished. There is a weekly programme of activities to suit as many as possible with trips away from the home. Most rooms have their own TV. Food is good with an acceptable choice, in dining rooms that encourage residents to mingle. Wherever possible, help is given to those who need help with cutlery etc. A kindly air pervades.
My mum has been in respite at Crandon Springs for 7 weeks. During that time she has improved both physically and emotionally. The environment in the home is very pleasant and relaxing. The staff are amazing and I cannot recommend them enough. They are kind, caring and professional. There are lots of varied activities which my mum enjoyed during her time here. My dad joined my mum for 1 week and also really enjoyed the home commenting on how friendly and kind the staff were. He also particularly liked the food and liked the fact there was plenty of it. Thank you to everyone. I am sure we will be using the home in the future and will be recommending it to our friends.
Second visit and was an emergency. No remote control for 4 days. After 5 days there was still no hand wash in her bathroom. For 3 days there was a dirty stain in the toilet. On more than one occasion my mum was dressed in clothes that were men's and clearly not hers - the trousers were so tight I could barely pull them over her hips. They rubbed and left marks around her waist and legs. There was no water available in her room until I insisted. When mum left she was dressed in the wrong clothes and missing numerous items- clothes, pad for her wheelchair and a missing shoe. The first floor supervisor was wonderful over the phone and my issues were resolved. I raised concerns with the general manager that residents were sat in front of their unfinished meal for 2 1/2 hours on a Monday night from 5.15pm - 7.45pm amongst trolleys of leftover food and dirty crockery, while the only two lovely staff tried their best to help residents to bed. Very shortened review due to 1000 characters.
First impressions, very good on our guided tour. Very modern, clean and excellent facilities. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. My mom has settled in well and is receiving excellent care.
Mum's physical and mental health improved drastically after moving her to Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home from another care home. She was made to feel very welcome and special by all the staff, as were her wider family whenever we visited. She was a resident there for three years and was very well cared for throughout her stay. The activities are excellent with a good variety of things to do. If ever there was an issue, the staff or management team were on hand to address it.
Our family, all of us, have always felt very welcome at Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home. Always been impressed with all the staff's level of care to all who come here, from the start of my mother's residence here two years ago. I have joined in with activities and thoroughly enjoyed them. As a family, we have no complaints about Crandon Springs. The management is readily available and easy to talk with on the rare occasion we'd like to discuss.
I arrived with a heavy heart but after a few minutes, knew Dad would be safe, happy and well looked after at Barchester Crandon Springs Care Home from smiling, caring staff, great cafe, decor/look and feel. Nothing was too much troubled. My dad was only with Crandon two weeks recovering. He actually came back in a great frame of mind and fir for which we can't thank them enough for treating him with respect and understanding his needs.
