From the moment mum and I walked into the home, (after visiting other care homes) - we knew this was the one. We were greeted with smiling, professional, and extremely knowledgeable staff member who explained everything about the home, and answered all questions when showing us around.
When mum
moved in, the staff knew mums name within a day, making the home environment easier and happier for mum to adjust too.
Mum has been there a year now, and has deteriorated in health due to illness. I couldn't wish for mum to be in a better home. I am kept up to date on any concerns the staff may have, and its discussed with me.
The manager and all staff are friendly, approachable, professional, honest and just great at their jobs! Nothing is too much trouble, and all questions are answered.
The facilities are wonderful, very clean and modern. The entertainment is fantastic! Ladies day at the races? Halloween? Cocktail evening? Santa arriving? What more could you ask for - for loved ones?

I find this to be an excellent care home. My mum has been resident for over 3 years and the home has taken great care of her. They listen to us siblings and act on any suggestions we make.
The staff are very helpful and the home is like a hotel.

Lovely building which was nicely furnished, very well organised. Staff were very friendly and warm in general and had a good sense of humour. It was a relaxing experience. There was a lot of choice of food, when and where I ate, where I spent m time, what activities I chose to join. It felt like a
hotel rather than a care home, but staff were there if I needed it.

We had a look round before mum went for respite. We found staff friendly and honest about how the home was run. The home had a simple but clear referral process, this meant we were reassured that Cqc recommendations had been implemented. The building was lovely and well maintained. Mums room was
lovely, with an well equipped en-suite..This respite stay provided us with reassurance that she was safe and well looked after.

My mother has been a resident for 2 years now and the care she receives is good. The care she requires has changed over the two years and the home kept up with her needs. The only concern I have is the stability of staff and the home has had a number of changes over the two years.

Dad went into Cottingham Manor initially for respite, but rapidly required permanent care.
The home manager efficiently arranged transfer to a more appropriate room to help monitor Dad and keep him safe.
Seniors , carers, caterers and all staff tried to help Dad settle and to support us as a
family.
We were always able to speak with senior staff regarding any concerns, and felt staff had Dad's best interests at heart.
He was treated as an individual and with respect.
Our wish was for Dad to live in a lovely home and be cared for.
Sadly, after a few months, Dad unexpectedly died in hospital following acute medical complications .
In 2023, staff at Cottingham Manor cared for our Mum, providing end of life cares to a very high standard.
Certain staff went over and above during her stay, to ensure continuity of care and keep Mum comfortable.
This was never forgotten, and the main reason for trusting them to care for Dad too.

There needs to be a system for providing dishwasher clean mugs in the sitting room. Currently they are being washed in a hap hazard way. There is washing up liquid and no brush to wash up with. It is therefore now an infection control issue. There should be somewhere to collect dirty mugs so they
are not reused. Also there are no teaspoons. I am aware they seem to disappear in care environments. However they need replacing otherwise burns are a risk when taking teabags out of mugs.

We enjoyed five weeks of respite care by very kind staff who were friendly and hard working. Our stay was most comfortable and it was a pleasant experience.

My friend, who has dementia, recently moved into this home as she no longer able to manage at home by herself. The staff very quickly won her over by their kindness and friendly nature and she has settled in well. She has all the company she desperately needed and the privacy of her own beautiful
room when she wants to be by herself.
The home itself is like a cruise ship that doesn't move. The decor is of a very high quality.
My friend joins in the activities on offer and has made some new friends.
The staff go out of their way to make me feel at home when I visit.

We visited Cottingham Manor on behalf of a neighbour and was astonished by the quality and presentation of this excellent facility. A fully functional range of in-house services served by pleasant personnel. We would have no concerns in recommending this care home to any interested parties.

My mum, who is 89 and recent had a stroke, went to stay at this excellent care home for a weeks respite. The staff were all excellent providing professional care whenever needed. The food was first class with both choice and quality. The home provided a range of interesting and varied activities,
which are enjoyed by all, and the staff encouraged mum to participate too in all of them which is extremely pleasing for us. The cleanliness and the appearance is, in our opinion, to the equivalent of a five star hotel and we therefore had no reservations, worries or concerns at all about my mum staying here. When going away myself for a weeks break, I had absolutely no concerns or worries about my mum's health, happiness and welfare while staying albeit briefly. All in all a five star care home.

My dad has recently moved to Cottingham Manor. He initially went for a week's respite care whilst I was on holiday, but then asked to return. Staff were happy to accommodate him on respite again, initially for 3 weeks, extended to 6, to allow him to settle and be ready to make the decision to stay
permanently. There was no pressure placed on us to make the decision. The care staff are excellent - they got to know Dad very quickly and their approach is professional, friendly and supportive. The surroundings are lovely - it feels more like a hotel than a care home. It is clean and tidy at all times. There is a regular and varied programme of activities which residents can participate in if they wish. I am confident that Dad is safe and well-cared for.

Cottingham Manor made the last few months of my Mothers's life comfortable and safe. She enjoyed the food and loving care from the staff. The atmosphere was friendly and calm. The Haven staff go the extra mile with their patience and treat the residents as valuable individuals. Would highly
recommend this care home.

The ambience of Cottingham Manor is like that of a 5-star country hotel. The care is exemplary, particularly on The Haven, the dementia floor. Here, my father was brought back from death's door on his return from hospital and lived well for another 5 months. During that time the staff supported him
(and me) wonderfully, and at his end, they were often by his side holding his hand and talking to him. I cannot thank them enough for the loving care they provided for him throughout his stay.

My father initially went into Cottingham Manor for respite care after a long stay in hospital, we had to find somewhere very quickly and it was a very worrying time. The team at Cottingham Manor were fantastic, they took all our worries away. When Dad first went into Cottingham Manor he needed
assistance with all aspects of personal care but the manager and her team showed such determination in helping Dad regain his quality of life. Dad eventually became a permanent resident making friends, enjoying the warm friendly atmosphere and he didn't have to go back to the hospital again - all his needs were taken care of in a safe happy environment. The people at Cottingham Manor were like Dad's second family and we will be forever grateful to them.

Our dad moved into Cottingham Manor Care Home in January 2023, having become immobilised through a spinal cord compression caused by bone cancer. From the moment he arrived, we knew he had found a home from home. A place where not only his every need was tended to by the most caring team, but also
the needs of our mum who was made to feel incredibly welcome every day she visited. She was able to stay with Dad for as long as she wished and, like Dad, soon became part of the family at Cottingham Manor. Dad lived for another 12 months. We are all grateful for his extra year of life which was made special, in no small part, thanks to the professional care and attentiveness he received. The team are the most professional of carers, in every regard. In his final days, they were supportive and ensured everything was done to make Dad feel comfortable and pain-free. If you have a relative in need of respite or residential care, you won't find a more reassuring care home than Cottingham Manor.

My husband was in Cottingham Manor for the last six months of his life. The care he received was excellent. The staff were friendly, cheerful and caring. The food was lovely. His room was large and well furnished and clean. We were always made welcome and I visited nearly every day with our little
dog. I am so pleased that, as he couldn’t be at home during that time due to the care he needed, that he was in a lovely place like Cottingham Manor.

We were so lucky, that my partner was able to stay at Cottingham Manor when he could no longer care for himself.
We were very concerned because his daughter and I lived too far away to be with him daily.
All our worries were taken away, he came into a warm environment, like a family and we were
part of it too.
What they did for my partner a for us was beyond expectations and from high quality.
As a result, he was able to live longer, more pleasantly and feeling more safe than expected.
We are very grateful to all the people who make Cottingham Manor such a safe, warm and fantastic place.

My dad initially went into Cottingham Manor for a few weeks whilst Mum had her new hip. Life took a turn for him when he had a medical incident in March 2023. This incident meant he really could not come home and he, and we, had to come to terms with the fact he was heading for long-term care in a
care home environment. All of the staff were all superb in the care of my dad. He knew he couldn't come home, he was not happy about it, but he was happy to be at Cottingham Manor. He did not mix with other residents, taking all his meals in his room - they took the time to stop and chat with him knowing that sometimes theirs was the only face that he might spend any time with that day.
Dad sadly passed away in September, the day is etched in my memory, as the staff were truly saddened at his passing. They had embraced us as a family and they, by extension, almost became part of our family. A few of them also came to Dad's funeral, and this really meant so much to us.
