Cottingham Manor is situated near the centre of Cottingham and provides both residential and dementia care, for both permanent and respite stays.

The Home includes Yorkare Homes' usual facilities, including an in-house bar, a full beauty salon and hairdressing room, cinema, private dining room and terraces from each floor. The facilities are used on a daily basis by visiting friends and family, and in a varied activities programme. The Home is on a 1.6 acre site to allow large gardens, with a bowling green, allotments and private seating areas. Dementia care is provided in the specialist Haven unit, which is described as a 'Home within a Home'.

All the bedrooms are large, with some premium bedrooms of over 20sqm each, and all include a full ensuite wet room. The ground floor bedrooms include doors out to private patio areas. There are 2 premium suites which all have their own kitchenettes or lounge areas, and have been specially designed for couples/siblings but can be used individually also.

The care home is located on Harland Way, not far from Cottingham Parks Golf and Leisure Club and the village centre.

  • The care home welcomes applications for admission from individuals who require residential or dementia care. All admissions are based on an assessment of the individual’s care needs to ensure the home can provide appropriate support and a safe, comfortable environment. Before admission, a thorough assessment is carried out in consultation with the individual, their family, and relevant professionals. This includes reviewing health, personal, and social care needs, as well as preferences and lifestyle choices, to ensure a personalised care plan can be developed. Admissions are offered subject to the availability of suitable accommodation and the ability of the home to meet the assessed needs. Priority is given to ensuring that every resident’s safety, dignity, and wellbeing are maintained at all times. Trial visits or short stays may be offered where appropriate, to support a smooth transition into the home. Visiting

  • Visitors are welcome to spend time with residents and are encouraged to maintain regular contact with their loved ones. Visiting hours are flexible, allowing friends and family to come at times that suit both the resident and the home’s routine.


    To ensure the comfort and wellbeing of all residents, visitors may be asked to sign in on arrival and follow any safety or hygiene guidance in place. Large groups and young children are welcome, though it may be requested that visits take place in designated areas to maintain a calm environment for everyone.


    Pets are often welcome by prior arrangement, as long as they are well-behaved and do not cause distress to residents.


    If a resident is unwell or receiving end-of-life care, visiting arrangements can be adapted to allow family and close friends more time and privacy.

We had a look round before mum went for respite. We found staff friendly and honest about how the home was run. The home had a simple but clear referral process, this meant we were reassured that Cqc recommendations had been implemented. The building was lovely and well maintained. Mums room was lovely,
with an well equipped en-suite..This respite stay provided us with reassurance that she was safe and well looked after.

My mother has been a resident for 2 years now and the care she receives is good. The care she requires has changed over the two years and the home kept up with her needs. The only concern I have is the stability of staff and the home has had a number of changes over the two years.

Dad went into Cottingham Manor initially for respite, but rapidly required permanent care.
The home manager efficiently arranged transfer to a more appropriate room to help monitor Dad and keep him safe.
Seniors , carers, caterers and all staff tried to help Dad settle and to support us as a family.
We
were always able to speak with senior staff regarding any concerns, and felt staff had Dad's best interests at heart.
He was treated as an individual and with respect.
Our wish was for Dad to live in a lovely home and be cared for.
Sadly, after a few months, Dad unexpectedly died in hospital following acute medical complications .
In 2023, staff at Cottingham Manor cared for our Mum, providing end of life cares to a very high standard.
Certain staff went over and above during her stay, to ensure continuity of care and keep Mum comfortable.
This was never forgotten, and the main reason for trusting them to care for Dad too.

There needs to be a system for providing dishwasher clean mugs in the sitting room. Currently they are being washed in a hap hazard way. There is washing up liquid and no brush to wash up with. It is therefore now an infection control issue. There should be somewhere to collect dirty mugs so they are
not reused. Also there are no teaspoons. I am aware they seem to disappear in care environments. However they need replacing otherwise burns are a risk when taking teabags out of mugs.

My friend, who has dementia, recently moved into this home as she no longer able to manage at home by herself. The staff very quickly won her over by their kindness and friendly nature and she has settled in well. She has all the company she desperately needed and the privacy of her own beautiful room
when she wants to be by herself.
The home itself is like a cruise ship that doesn't move. The decor is of a very high quality.
My friend joins in the activities on offer and has made some new friends.
The staff go out of their way to make me feel at home when I visit.

My mum, who is 89 and recent had a stroke, went to stay at this excellent care home for a weeks respite. The staff were all excellent providing professional care whenever needed. The food was first class with both choice and quality. The home provided a range of interesting and varied activities, which
are enjoyed by all, and the staff encouraged mum to participate too in all of them which is extremely pleasing for us. The cleanliness and the appearance is, in our opinion, to the equivalent of a five star hotel and we therefore had no reservations, worries or concerns at all about my mum staying here. When going away myself for a weeks break, I had absolutely no concerns or worries about my mum's health, happiness and welfare while staying albeit briefly. All in all a five star care home.

My dad has recently moved to Cottingham Manor. He initially went for a week's respite care whilst I was on holiday, but then asked to return. Staff were happy to accommodate him on respite again, initially for 3 weeks, extended to 6, to allow him to settle and be ready to make the decision to stay permanently.
There was no pressure placed on us to make the decision. The care staff are excellent - they got to know Dad very quickly and their approach is professional, friendly and supportive. The surroundings are lovely - it feels more like a hotel than a care home. It is clean and tidy at all times. There is a regular and varied programme of activities which residents can participate in if they wish. I am confident that Dad is safe and well-cared for.

Cottingham Manor made the last few months of my Mothers's life comfortable and safe. She enjoyed the food and loving care from the staff. The atmosphere was friendly and calm. The ambience of Cottingham Manor is like that of a 5-star country hotel. The care is exemplary, particularly on The Haven, the dementia floor. Here, my father was brought back from death's door on his return from hospital and lived well for another 5 months. During that time the staff supported him
(and me) wonderfully, and at his end, they were often by his side holding his hand and talking to him. I cannot thank them enough for the loving care they provided for him throughout his stay.

My father initially went into Cottingham Manor for respite care after a long stay in hospital, we had to find somewhere very quickly and it was a very worrying time. The team at Cottingham Manor were fantastic, they took all our worries away. When Dad first went into Cottingham Manor he needed assistance
with all aspects of personal care but the manager and her team showed such determination in helping Dad regain his quality of life. Dad eventually became a permanent resident making friends, enjoying the warm friendly atmosphere and he didn't have to go back to the hospital again - all his needs were taken care of in a safe happy environment. The people at Cottingham Manor were like Dad's second family and we will be forever grateful to them.

Our dad moved into Cottingham Manor Care Home in January 2023, having become immobilised through a spinal cord compression caused by bone cancer. From the moment he arrived, we knew he had found a home from home. A place where not only his every need was tended to by the most caring team, but also the
needs of our mum who was made to feel incredibly welcome every day she visited. She was able to stay with Dad for as long as she wished and, like Dad, soon became part of the family at Cottingham Manor. Dad lived for another 12 months. We are all grateful for his extra year of life which was made special, in no small part, thanks to the professional care and attentiveness he received. The team are the most professional of carers, in every regard. In his final days, they were supportive and ensured everything was done to make Dad feel comfortable and pain-free. If you have a relative in need of respite or residential care, you won't find a more reassuring care home than Cottingham Manor.

My husband was in Cottingham Manor for the last six months of his life. The care he received was excellent. The staff were friendly, cheerful and caring. The food was lovely. His room was large and well furnished and clean. We were always made welcome and I visited nearly every day with our little dog.
I am so pleased that, as he couldn’t be at home during that time due to the care he needed, that he was in a lovely place like Cottingham Manor.

We were so lucky, that my partner was able to stay at Cottingham Manor when he could no longer care for himself.
We were very concerned because his daughter and I lived too far away to be with him daily.
All our worries were taken away, he came into a warm environment, like a family and we were
part of it too.
What they did for my partner a for us was beyond expectations and from high quality.
As a result, he was able to live longer, more pleasantly and feeling more safe than expected.
We are very grateful to all the people who make Cottingham Manor such a safe, warm and fantastic place.

My dad initially went into Cottingham Manor for a few weeks whilst Mum had her new hip. Life took a turn for him when he had a medical incident in March 2023. This incident meant he really could not come home and he, and we, had to come to terms with the fact he was heading for long-term care in a care
home environment. All of the staff were all superb in the care of my dad. He knew he couldn't come home, he was not happy about it, but he was happy to be at Cottingham Manor. He did not mix with other residents, taking all his meals in his room - they took the time to stop and chat with him knowing that sometimes theirs was the only face that he might spend any time with that day.
Dad sadly passed away in September, the day is etched in my memory, as the staff were truly saddened at his passing. They had embraced us as a family and they, by extension, almost became part of our family. A few of them also came to Dad's funeral, and this really meant so much to us.

Mum and I can't thank Cottingham Manor Care Home enough for the most amazing memorable day when Mum celebrated her 100th Birthday. The staff were amazing, I know I can't name them, but they know who they are. We will never forget what a wonderful day Mum had and how special she was made to feel. As

Following a large stroke and an extended hospital stay, Mum moved into Cottingham Manor at the end of September.
Mum tells me that everyone is lovely and has her best interests at heart and that everyone learns from each other so that the transition from independent living to requiring help is smooth
and seamless.
Mum has told me on a number of occasions that she feels safe and well looked after, so much so that it feels like they’re all one big family there.
From a son's point of view, it’s been a pleasure to work with the Cottingham Manor staff, from the carers to management, really helpful and really friendly and if they don’t know an answer to a question there and then, I’ll know the answer very quickly. The staff, at all levels, are a pleasure to deal with, so thank you to you all, you have made this a home for Mum and very easy for me and my family to deal with the home, Mum and her needs.

My stepfather moved to Cottingham Manor after previous care home services were found to be grossly inadequate. He has a diagnosis of dementia. The changes that have been seen since he moved in, in his health, his appearance and his communication skills has been truly amazing. Cottingham Manor is a well
organized residential care home that is meeting all his needs, physical and emotional. I am able to relax now knowing that he is safe and well cared for and that I will be made aware of any problems that arise. I feel involved in all decisions that are made as is my stepfather. The staff are caring and compassionate, despite his behaviour that can at times be challenging. He is taking part in activities and is enjoying being taken out on visits.
