Horsforth Manor Care Home

As a daughter of a mum living with Alzheimer's, choosing a care home was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. The care, diligence, and compassion shown by the staff here has been exemplary. They treat my mum with patience, dignity, and genuine kindness, always seeing her as a person rather than
a condition.
The staff are not just friends, but they are pivotal to how I function day to day. Knowing my mum is safe, understood, and cared for allows me to be her daughter again, not someone consumed by constant worry. Their support gives me peace of mind and emotional space in an otherwise heartbreaking journey.
Because of their dedication, I am able to spend precious, meaningful moments with my mum - moments I will treasure forever. I will always be deeply grateful for the professionalism, empathy, and humanity shown every day.
Reply from Tee Tatum, Homes Manager at Horsforth Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review.
We understand how difficult the decision to choose a care home can be, especially when supporting a loved one living with Alzheimer's. Knowing that our team has been able to provide your mum with care that is rooted in patience, dignity, and genuine kindness means more to us than we can express.
Your reflection on being able to simply be a daughter again is especially powerful. That sense of peace of mind and emotional space is what we hope to give families, and we are grateful that our support has helped you spend those precious, meaningful moments together.
Thank you for trusting us with your mum's care and for recognising the dedication and compassion of our team. Your gratitude will be shared with the staff.

Absolutely outstanding-and then some. From entertainer to family very quickly. The warmth and welcome me & my daughter received were incredible. The staff are simply amazing. Going above and beyond in everything they do, and it truly shows. The activity coordinators excel in their roles and provide
some of the most outstanding, creative, and meaningful activities I have ever come across in a care home. Family members are exceptionally well supported-not only by the staff, but by other families too-and this is a direct result of how open, inclusive, and friendly the home has been made. I cannot write this review without mentioning the woman who oversees every inch of this home: Tee. Having worked in many care homes over the years, I can honestly say I have never met a manager who pours her whole heart and so much of her time into ensuring a home runs to the highest standards every second of every day. Horsforth Manor is truly special, and it sets the bar incredibly high.
Reply from Tee Tatum, Homes Manager at Horsforth Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write such a heartfelt review. We are touched by your kind words and by the trust you and your daughter have placed in Horsforth Manor.
Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for residents and their families is at the heart of everything we do, and it means so much to hear that this has been your experience. Your recognition of our staff and activity coordinators will be shared with the whole team-they take enormous pride in going above and beyond, and your feedback reinforces just how meaningful their work is.
We are also incredibly grateful for your special mention of Tee. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to the highest standards truly shape the culture of our home, and your words reflect exactly what she strives for every day.
Thank you again, it is a privilege to support you and your family.

I really can't fault Horsforth Manor, my Grandma has been a resident there for over 18 months. She is very well looked after and entertained daily by the numerous organised activities. When we take her out she always wants to go back sooner than planned to the comfort and security of 'her home'.

The

Manager and the wider team are so engaging, caring and friendly have we as a family have formed a close bond with both the team and other residents.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Horsforth Manor to anyone and have a few times already.

Both my parents moved into Rawcliffe Manor at the very end of November and are still living there. They started as respite individuals, but have been so impressed with their Care they are now registering as permanent residents. We have had 2 occasions when Mum was rushed to hospital. The nursing staff
were so quick to identify a possibility of sepsis initially and the 2nd time pneumonia which undoubtedly saved her life.
All the staff are excellent - so professional and caring. Particularly impressed with the female Manager who goes out of her way to help my Father with his endless computer problems. The food and cleanliness are outstanding too
Thank you Rawcliffe Manor

From the moment mum and I walked into the home, (after visiting other care homes) - we knew this was the one. We were greeted with smiling, professional, and extremely knowledgeable staff member who explained everything about the home, and answered all questions when showing us around.
When mum moved
in, the staff knew mums name within a day, making the home environment easier and happier for mum to adjust too.
Mum has been there a year now, and has deteriorated in health due to illness. I couldn't wish for mum to be in a better home. I am kept up to date on any concerns the staff may have, and its discussed with me.
The manager and all staff are friendly, approachable, professional, honest and just great at their jobs! Nothing is too much trouble, and all questions are answered.
The facilities are wonderful, very clean and modern. The entertainment is fantastic! Ladies day at the races? Halloween? Cocktail evening? Santa arriving? What more could you ask for - for loved ones?
Reply from Casey Rorks, Home Manager at Cottingham Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your review. We are delighted that from your first visit you felt confident in choosing our home, and it means a great deal to know that your mum has felt welcomed, known, and supported by our team.
We understand how challenging it is when a loved one's health changes, and we are honoured to be entrusted with your mum's care. Keeping families informed and involved is very important to us, so we're pleased this has given you reassurance.
Your kind words about our staff, facilities, and activities will be shared with the whole team, who take great pride in creating a warm, happy, and engaging home. Thank you again for your trust and support.

My grandfather absolutely loves it here. He says that all the staff are wonderful and that he feels safe, happy and secure. The staff are also very good at communicating if anything changes with Grandad and he has become much happier here than he was at his own home. A care home that I would (and do)
recommend to anybody.

After two months, I can honestly say how impressed I am with every aspect of this home. From the moment my mum arrived, the staff have been nothing short of incredible - kind, patient, professional and genuinely caring. It's clear they don't just do a job; they truly care about the residents as individuals.

The

range of activities on offer is fantastic and thoughtfully planned, giving residents plenty of opportunities to stay engaged, social and stimulated. The home itself is beautiful - it feels far more like a luxury hotel than a care home, with lovely surroundings that make it a pleasure to visit.

Most importantly, I've seen a spark in my mum that I haven't seen for years. She seems happier, more settled and more like herself again, which means everything to our family. Knowing she is safe, cared for and genuinely happy has given us enormous peace of mind. I couldn't recommend Horsforth Manor highly enough

My mum moved to Horsforth Manor in September 2025 and she is so happy as am I. Everything is amazing - the standard of care, the food, the activities, the housekeeping etc. You walk in and the atmosphere grips you as it's busy with residents all doing things with staff and there's lots of laughter
and chat. You are never ever on your own unless you want to be. Residents are continously stimulated with activities morning and afternoon and several of the families are invited to join in. Whether it's coffee mornings with cakes, singers, dancing or just playing dominoes there is so much to do. During December there were also trips out to the garden centres and meals out. New Year's Eve saw an Abba Tribute with loads of singing and dancing followed by a fabulous buffet. The food at Horsforth Manor is excellent and my mum can't wait for lunch and tea every day. My mum is safe and secure and I have total peace of mind. Everyone is totally devoted and all they do is with a smile.

The staff are exceptional in the care of my Mum with regards to all matters of her mental and physical care at Horsforth Manor. Always going the extra mile and for me as I live in Australia and am visiting now including me and I feel so reassured Mum is living here safe and stimulated by the amazing
activities run by these friendly and caring staff. This really is a beautiful place and the food is fantastic , the management are very efficient with their communication and the creative flair is wonderful. I cannot fault this place or recommend it enough. The morning teas are delightful and inclusive and I love the quizzes. I cannot believe my Mum is playing football and love how many friends she has made and how chatty she has become since she has been living here. She really enjoys going on the outings on the minibus trips and I love seeing the photos on the social media pages. Thank you to all the cadets, caters, activity staff, nurse, managers, receptionists, laundry staff etc.

Mum has lived at HM for over a year now and the improvement in her health and wellbeing compared to struggling on with independent living is remarkable. The team take such good care of her in all aspects. The home itself is beautiful, clean, modern but cosy and welcoming. It is a pleasure to visit and
sit with mum in the lounge or bar which feel like an upmarket hotel. The activities planning is very impressive, there is something on every day and there is lots of community involvement including local schools. Mum is on the Residential floor and we have been so impressed with the care manager's proactiveness and attention to detail. There is so much good stuff to say but in summary, would recommend 100%

It is 6 months since I last wrote a review for the Care Home. At that time I was delighted to report a significant improvement in the care provided and, while not perfect, was happy to say that concerns were listened to and addressed when they did crop up. I can still say that concerns are listened
to and I also witness a high degree of care from the staff, but the reality of the last couple of months is that standards have dropped. There have been a number of frustrations with e.g. long delays to answer a call bell, miscommunications with night staff who don't know Mum's needs, Mum's room being left untidy by staff after morning cares etc. The bottom line is that standards have dropped below their high point in the summer. It isn't all poor. I witness so many caring actions from staff, but all the good is now coloured by the frequent need to report problems.
Reply from Sharon Conarty, Home Manager at Haxby Hall Care HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate all comments, as they help us to improve the quality of care we provide.
We are grateful for your positive comments regarding our responsiveness and the care of your mum, but we have also noted the concerns you raised.
Timely responses and attentive care are priorities for us, and your concerns have been shared with our team. We are reviewing our procedures for housekeeping, communication, and staffing to ensure all areas are addressed.
We remain committed to improving our services and providing the highest level of support to all residents. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

My Dad resided in Marton Gate Manor Care Home for the remaining four months of 2025.
On moving in to the home, my Dad struggled to settle into his new surroundings and routine, however, with the support, understanding and respect of the staff he soon became part of their family which facilitated memorable,
quality moments with him.
Unfortunately, ailing health made it obvious my Dad had limited weeks remaining.
The staff offered support, compassion and friendship to my Dad and so many members of his family, especially my husband and I.

Rawcliffe Manor Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband has been cared for at Rawcliffe Manor for 3 1/2 years. His condition has deteriorated (Parkinson's and related dementia) during which time his care has been adapted to meet his changing needs .
He can now do nothing for himself. All the carers treat him with respect and do everything
possible to stimulate him , meet his needs and make his life as happy as is possible.
Not only do they look after my husband , they also look after me. There are times when it's hard for me to cope with "losing" my husband at such a young age but there is always someone there for me too .
I have only seen kindness, consideration and professionalism .
When I walk into the home I feel support in a welcoming environment. Our grandson thinks grandpa lives in a hotel.
Friends ,who have visited my husband, have chosen Rawcliffe Manor for their loved ones because of what they have experienced during their visits.
I can cope with our sad situation because of Rawcliffe Manor

Mum was in this amazing care home for 7 wonderful months , from the very first day to her passing on 28th November with the care of staff beside her, she had the best care we could have wished for, The staff are so caring nothing is too much trouble and the home itself is beautiful. We looked around
at other homes before choosing Haxby Hall, you may think it is expensive but believe me it is worth every penny and I highly recommend it .

I find this to be an excellent care home. My mum has been resident for over 3 years and the home has taken great care of her. They listen to us siblings and act on any suggestions we make.

The staff are very helpful and the home is like a hotel.

I came to visit my mother-in-law this week who has late stage Alzheimer's and the standard of care and support from the moment you walk into the home was outstanding. All team members were smiley all spoke and all paid attention to my Mum.
The home is beautiful and even though my mum is bed bound she
was well cared for and was happy. That is all as a family we can ask for.
Thank you for everything
