I cannot praise Haxby Hall enough. It was by chance that following hospitalisation my partner was accepted and at that time little was known about the home but on an initial visit I was impressed but reserved judgement on the care until he had settled. My partner settled within about 5 days and that
was amazing as he'd been unsettled in hospital and in the rehab unit where he was following 2 broken hips. The level of care is second to none. The staff are alert to each residents needs. Not only do they provide them with care they chat to them and all play a pivotal role in providing excellent care for all. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Haxby Hall to anyone going through the enormously difficult decision of placing their loved one in a care facility. Thank you all staff of Haxby Hall for your dedication.
Reply from Mandy Thompson, Homes Manager at Haxby Hall Care HomeThank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear how well your partner has settled at Haxby Hall, knowing he felt comfortable within just a few days is lovely to hear. My husband has complex needs and has had problems in a previous home. I had conversations with Clifton Hall manager to be certain that it would be a suitable home for my husband to move to. The positive change in my husband in the short time he has been there is remarkable but not surprising. Clifton
Hall ticks all the boxes from the calm, welcoming ambience as you enter, the greeting of the friendly, efficient receptionist, the beautiful tasteful public rooms and the excellent meals. My husband has a lovely sunny room which we have been able to personalise with his pictures and furniture and a lovely outlook. The most important aspect though is the superb care that he receives, from the highly professional, attentive Carers to the Housekeepers, the Chef, the Activities coordinator, the Handyman and a Manager who is in evidence, approachable and always ready to talk and put my mind at rest. In short, Clifton Hall is perfect for us.
Reply from Shane Talbot, Homes Manager at Clifton Hall Care HomeThank you for sharing such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We're delighted to hear how well your husband is settling in and that you've already noticed such a positive change - that means the world to us.

Your kind words about the whole team - from our Carers and Housekeepers to our Receptionist, Chef, Activities Coordinator, Handyman, and our Manager - are incredibly appreciated. Every member of staff takes great pride in providing attentive, professional, and compassionate care, and it's lovely to hear that this has given you confidence and peace of mind.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. Knowing that Clifton Hall feels like the perfect place for you both is the highest compliment we could receive.

Recently (May2026) opened, purpose built, feels like a luxury hotel.
Easy entry/departure for friends/family. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, polite, engaging, professional staff are doing their utmost to make my parents stay the best it can be.
Management/admin have gone the extra mile to deal with
a temporary issue, without extra charge.
Residents have the choice of multiple dining experiences and lounges/spaces, all of which are roomy and bright.
Decor and furniture is to an extremely high standard, and the whole building feels like a home, rather than a care facility; it is an absolute pleasure to visit my parents there.

My mum is currently in Haxby Hall on respite. We had been with her a few weeks ago about moving in so we were already familiar and knew after mums time on hospital home was not an option.
We are very happy with the care mum is receiving. All staff are friendly and helpful. We go in a few times a day
so we are really getting to know other residents and all staff as if this becomes permanent then they will be our new "family"
Always going to be teething issues. But we chat them through. Create a plan and it's resolved.
I have been in other care homes with other family members which have not been anything like as brilliant and warm as Haxby Hall. Definitely gets my vote and thank you for looking after my mum.
Reply from Mandy Thompson, Homes Manager at Haxby Hall Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We're pleased to hear that your mum is settling in well during her respite stay and that you're happy with the care she's receiving.

It means a great deal to the whole team to know that you feel welcomed and supported, and that you've been able to get to know our residents and staff during your visits. We understand how important it is to feel confident and comfortable, especially when considering longer-term care, and we're glad you feel that Haxby Hall offers a warm and positive environment.

We value open communication, and we're pleased that any early teething issues have been easily resolved through conversation and planning together. Working in partnership with families is important to us.

Thank you again for your kind words and for trusting us to look after your mum. We're always here if you need anything.

Mum was a resident at Cottingham Manor for over 2 years until her final illness in early 2026. Our family visited regularly and got to know Cottingham Manor well. We knew that mum was cared for, loved and respected by the staff. The care throughout her stay and at the end of her life was wonderful,
dignified and compassionate. The love and support our family received from the staff especially at the time of her death was much appreciated.

Rawcliffe Manor Care Home has simply been fantastic. Mum was admitted in June 2025 for respite care but become a permanent resident from August 2025. From the first moment the care staff, kitchen and cleaning staff, receptionist, entertainment staff, hairdresser and management team have show nothing
but care and compassion towards mum and her wider family. Mum wasn't thrilled to be staying in a home but with the care and support of all the team she accepted it and loved RM. She loved her trips out with the other residents. The catering staff encouraged her to eat even going to lengths to provide her with blueberries for her cornflakes. The care team are 2nd to none - I never once had to explain who my mum was. A wonderful caring home.

As a daughter of a mum living with Alzheimer's, choosing a care home was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. The care, diligence, and compassion shown by the staff here has been exemplary. They treat my mum with patience, dignity, and genuine kindness, always seeing her as a person rather than
a condition.
The staff are not just friends, but they are pivotal to how I function day to day. Knowing my mum is safe, understood, and cared for allows me to be her daughter again, not someone consumed by constant worry. Their support gives me peace of mind and emotional space in an otherwise heartbreaking journey.
Because of their dedication, I am able to spend precious, meaningful moments with my mum - moments I will treasure forever. I will always be deeply grateful for the professionalism, empathy, and humanity shown every day.

We understand how difficult the decision to choose a care home can be, especially when supporting a loved one living with Alzheimer's. Knowing that our team has been able to provide your mum with care that is rooted in patience, dignity, and genuine kindness means more to us than we can express.
Your reflection on being able to simply be a daughter again is especially powerful. That sense of peace of mind and emotional space is what we hope to give families, and we are grateful that our support has helped you spend those precious, meaningful moments together.

Absolutely outstanding-and then some. From entertainer to family very quickly. The warmth and welcome me & my daughter received were incredible. The staff are simply amazing. Going above and beyond in everything they do, and it truly shows. The activity coordinators excel in their roles and provide
some of the most outstanding, creative, and meaningful activities I have ever come across in a care home. Family members are exceptionally well supported-not only by the staff, but by other families too-and this is a direct result of how open, inclusive, and friendly the home has been made. I cannot write this review without mentioning the woman who oversees every inch of this home: Tee. Having worked in many care homes over the years, I can honestly say I have never met a manager who pours her whole heart and so much of her time into ensuring a home runs to the highest standards every second of every day. Horsforth Manor is truly special, and it sets the bar incredibly high.

We are also incredibly grateful for your special mention of Tee. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to the highest standards truly shape the culture of our home, and your words reflect exactly what she strives for every day.

I really can't fault Horsforth Manor, my Grandma has been a resident there for over 18 months. She is very well looked after and entertained daily by the numerous organised activities. When we take her out she always wants to go back sooner than planned to the comfort and security of 'her home'.

The

Manager and the wider team are so engaging, caring and friendly have we as a family have formed a close bond with both the team and other residents.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Horsforth Manor to anyone and have a few times already.

Both my parents moved into Rawcliffe Manor at the very end of November and are still living there. They started as respite individuals, but have been so impressed with their Care they are now registering as permanent residents. We have had 2 occasions when Mum was rushed to hospital. The nursing staff
were so quick to identify a possibility of sepsis initially and the 2nd time pneumonia which undoubtedly saved her life.
All the staff are excellent - so professional and caring. Particularly impressed with the female Manager who goes out of her way to help my Father with his endless computer problems. The food and cleanliness are outstanding too
Thank you Rawcliffe Manor

Cottingham Manor Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the moment mum and I walked into the home, (after visiting other care homes) - we knew this was the one. We were greeted with smiling, professional, and extremely knowledgeable staff member who explained everything about the home, and answered all questions when showing us around.
When mum moved
in, the staff knew mums name within a day, making the home environment easier and happier for mum to adjust too.
Mum has been there a year now, and has deteriorated in health due to illness. I couldn't wish for mum to be in a better home. I am kept up to date on any concerns the staff may have, and its discussed with me.
The manager and all staff are friendly, approachable, professional, honest and just great at their jobs! Nothing is too much trouble, and all questions are answered.
The facilities are wonderful, very clean and modern. The entertainment is fantastic! Ladies day at the races? Halloween? Cocktail evening? Santa arriving? What more could you ask for - for loved ones?

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My grandfather absolutely loves it here. He says that all the staff are wonderful and that he feels safe, happy and secure. The staff are also very good at communicating if anything changes with Grandad and he has become much happier here than he was at his own home. A care home that I would (and do)
recommend to anybody.
