Overall Experience
Reaching the point of looking for a care home was such a stressful time for us, but from the moment my husband and I first walked through the doors of Clifton Hall we were overwhelmed by a sense of calm.
The care and attention which has gone into both the interior decor and indeed the planning of the beautiful gardens bring so much peace. The building has the feeling of a luxury hotel or spa... a place to want to be!
I think by far the greatest asset of Clifton Hall is the staff. No matter what role they have, each person we have met, greets you with smiles, and a genuine wish to help. The resident is seen as a person and each member of staff takes such care and attention to engage both with the resident, but also to welcome the family into feeling they are an extended part of Clifton Hall too. Nothing is too much trouble, and there is a genuine care for residents and their family.
Thank you so much Clifton Hall!

Overall Experience
Clifton Hall is beautifully located in peaceful surroundings with lovely views and delightful gardens. The quality of the fixtures and furnishings is outstanding. The residents' rooms are generously sized, tastefully decorated and very comfortably furnished.
My father was resident only for a very short time before his health unexpectedly failed. The care he received was outstanding. Without exception all of the staff were kind, considerate and thoughtful in their interactions with him and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff consistently showed the same lovely approach to us as we were preparing for my father to move in, and while he was resident. Their professionalism in dealing with my father's last moments and their compassion afterwards were wonderful and I am very grateful. I cannot praise them highly enough.

Thank you so much for your kind review, it means a lot to our whole team to know that your father felt cared for and supported, even in the short time he was with us. Your reflections on the kindness, professionalism and compassion shown by staff will be shared with them.

Overall Experience
My husband has complex needs and has had problems in a previous home. I had conversations with Clifton Hall manager to be certain that it would be a suitable home for my husband to move to. The positive change in my husband in the short time he has been there is remarkable but not surprising. Clifton Hall ticks all the boxes from the calm, welcoming ambience as you enter, the greeting of the friendly, efficient receptionist, the beautiful tasteful public rooms and the excellent meals. My husband has a lovely sunny room which we have been able to personalise with his pictures and furniture and a lovely outlook. The most important aspect though is the superb care that he receives, from the highly professional, attentive Carers to the Housekeepers, the Chef, the Activities coordinator, the Handyman and a Manager who is in evidence, approachable and always ready to talk and put my mind at rest. In short, Clifton Hall is perfect for us.

This place is amazing, the staff are absolutely incredible and so kind and welcoming. The care team gave delivered to my mum has been outstanding . The food is fabulous, and the day activities are fantastic. I would highly recommend this care home and it's so worth a visit if you're considering care home options. Every member of the team are so helpful and you tell from the first day this just isn't a job it's so much more than that to them, and it shows . Overall Experience
Recently (May2026) opened, purpose built, feels like a luxury hotel. Easy entry/departure for friends/family. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, polite, engaging, professional staff are doing their utmost to make my parents stay the best it can be. Management/admin have gone the extra mile to deal with a temporary issue, without extra charge. Residents have the choice of multiple dining experiences and lounges/spaces, all of which are roomy and bright.
Decor and furniture is to an extremely high standard, and the whole building feels like a home, rather than a care facility; it is an absolute pleasure to visit my parents there.

Mum was a resident at Cottingham Manor for over 2 years until her final illness in early 2026. Our family visited regularly and got to know Cottingham Manor well. We knew that mum was cared for, loved and respected by the staff. The care throughout her stay and at the end of her life was wonderful, dignified and compassionate. The love and support our family received from the staff especially at the time of her death was much appreciated.

Overall Experience
From the moment mum and I walked into the home, (after visiting other care homes) - we knew this was the one. We were greeted with smiling, professional, and extremely knowledgeable staff member who explained everything about the home, and answered all questions when showing us around. When mum moved in, the staff knew mums name within a day, making the home environment easier and happier for mum to adjust too. Mum has been there a year now, and has deteriorated in health due to illness. I couldn't wish for mum to be in a better home. I am kept up to date on any concerns the staff may have, and its discussed with me. The manager and all staff are friendly, approachable, professional, honest and just great at their jobs! Nothing is too much trouble, and all questions are answered.
The facilities are wonderful, very clean and modern. The entertainment is fantastic! Ladies day at the races? Halloween? Cocktail evening? Santa arriving? What more could you ask for - for loved ones?

Overall Experience
My Dad resided in Marton Gate Manor Care Home for the remaining four months of 2025. On moving in to the home, my Dad struggled to settle into his new surroundings and routine, however, with the support, understanding and respect of the staff he soon became part of their family which facilitated memorable, quality moments with him. Unfortunately, ailing health made it obvious my Dad had limited weeks remaining. The staff offered support, compassion and friendship to my Dad and so many members of his family, especially my husband and I.
I highly recommend this care provider, not only for the exceptional facilities but for their professional and personal standards of care delivered with true compassion, thought and caring.

I came to visit my mother-in-law this week who has late stage Alzheimer's and the standard of care and support from the moment you walk into the home was outstanding. All team members were smiley all spoke and all paid attention to my Mum. The home is beautiful and even though my mum is bed bound she was well cared for and was happy. That is all as a family we can ask for.

Lovely building which was nicely furnished, very well organised. Staff were very friendly and warm in general and had a good sense of humour. It was a relaxing experience. There was a lot of choice of food, when and where I ate, where I spent m time, what activities I chose to join. It felt like a hotel rather than a care home, but staff were there if I needed it.

We had a look round before mum went for respite. We found staff friendly and honest about how the home was run. The home had a simple but clear referral process, this meant we were reassured that Cqc recommendations had been implemented. The building was lovely and well maintained. Mums room was lovely, with an well equipped en-suite..This respite stay provided us with reassurance that she was safe and well looked after.

Overall Experience
Dad went into Cottingham Manor initially for respite, but rapidly required permanent care. The home manager efficiently arranged transfer to a more appropriate room to help monitor Dad and keep him safe. Seniors , carers, caterers and all staff tried to help Dad settle and to support us as a family. We were always able to speak with senior staff regarding any concerns, and felt staff had Dad's best interests at heart. He was treated as an individual and with respect. Our wish was for Dad to live in a lovely home and be cared for. Sadly, after a few months, Dad unexpectedly died in hospital following acute medical complications . In 2023, staff at Cottingham Manor cared for our Mum, providing end of life cares to a very high standard. Certain staff went over and above during her stay, to ensure continuity of care and keep Mum comfortable.
This was never forgotten, and the main reason for trusting them to care for Dad too.
↩Reply from Casey Rorks, Home Manager at Cottingham Manor Care Home

There needs to be a system for providing dishwasher clean mugs in the sitting room. Currently they are being washed in a hap hazard way. There is washing up liquid and no brush to wash up with. It is therefore now an infection control issue. There should be somewhere to collect dirty mugs so they are not reused. Also there are no teaspoons. I am aware they seem to disappear in care environments. However they need replacing otherwise burns are a risk when taking teabags out of mugs.
