My Dad has been at Kingfishers for 2 years now and is very happy there. He has a great rapport with all the staff and is looked after very well. Also, since the new manager has started the staff seem a lot happier which reflects the general mood of the home and I feel she is doing an excellent job.
The activities staff work very hard at giving lots of different activities for the residents to get involved with and the care staff are very kind and caring. Everyone at the home is very welcoming to visitors.

I was asked by my friend to look for a Nursing Home for her as unable to manage at home.
I looked at 4 homes and Austinwood came out top.

On my arrival to view the home I had a parking space reserved for me and a very professional welcome by Jackie who escorted me round the home. I was very impressed

whith what I saw. All the staff who I passed by on my viewing said good morning. Thr rooms where lovely and the one I thought would suite my friend was beautifully decorated with matching curtains and bed dressings.
The Cinema was very impressive with pretty and unusal decorations. Super.

I would not hesitate to reccommend Austinwood and the lovely professional staff.

My husband continues to be well cared for at Kingfishers. We recently celebrated a wedding anniversary - not easy when living apart but thanks to Kingfishers we had the most wonderful day. We had a private lunch with a beautifully laid table with red roses plus there was a banner above us and balloons.
We had a lovely lunch followed by a superb cakes shared with staff and residents. There was so much love and affection shown to us. We cannot thank all the staff involved enough. Thank you Kingfishers.

Weald Hall Care Home

from Kelly A (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 October 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Dad moved into Weald Hall in Sept 25, and the transformation has been incredible. Before, he was confined to a dementia unit, but now he has the freedom to roam, engage with both residents and staff, participate in daily activities, and take an active interest in life once more. At first, I was concerned
about how he'd adjust to a new care home, but the staff were exceptional. They gently helped him settle in, drawing on their wealth of dementia knowledge to ensure he was always comfortable and well-cared for. The rooms are a great size, giving Dad plenty of space to feel at home, and the whole environment feels like a home rather than a care home. The staff-to-resident ratio is excellent, meaning there's always someone nearby. Weald Hall has truly brought new energy into Dad's life, taking him out to play golf and even to the local market. Since his move to Weald Hall, I've felt an immense sense of relief, finally able to relax after a challenging year.

I had to pick the right place for my mum to live. It was so emotional and I felt a great burden of responsibility. But the minute I stepped into Kingfishers Care home I knew! It was bright, friendly and filled with love. The carers and staff are amazing they put in 100% all the time. The food is excellent
and always available! We got lucky with a room flooded with light. Mum has now found her friends and she says 'this is my home now'. What a relief ! And I only live round the corner so I can see mum most days. It's just perfect! X

I visited my mum at breakfast time at Kingfisher Care Home in Bourne End and was really touched by what I saw. The dining room was busy and full of life, but the atmosphere was warm, caring, and professional.

All the staff were so kind and polite. They took the time to chat with the residents, including
