How I rate this care home is based on the level of peace of mind I have when I am not with my stepdad. I do not have enough words of praise for the care and how my stepdad has improved in his time at Manor Barn Care Home since he moved in April 2025. His level of fragility has significantly improved due to all the activities to promote strengthening his muscles. He has regained all the weight he lost with tasty, healthy food.

I wanted to thank you so much for looking after my husband.
Even though he did not stay very long with you sadly, I did spend a lot of time with him at Manor Barn. I can truly say that every single person working there from cleaners, care assistants, cooks, nurses and doctors were exceptional in their kindness and care.
The food was extremely good and I had a superb curry on a Saturday.
I also saw such lovely and loving interactions between staff and other residents, that I would certainly recommend Manor Barn to others.

At the end I felt both my husband and I were surrounded by a feeling of being loved, what more could we have asked for?

The manager and staff at Manor Barn Nursing Home couldn't have been nicer. They were all very caring and knowledgeable and looked after my father so well in his month there. My husband was cared for whilst I had a week's break. I was confident he would be well looked after in this lovely home. A week is not long to judge somewhere but I was confident he would be looked after well and he was. The staff I met were very friendly and caring, and everywhere was very comfortable and clean. Very good choice of healthy food. The facilities are excellent. I had hoped he would take part in activities but he was confused and was not there long enough to get used to things. My rating as 'good' rather than excellent is purely because I only have a week on which to make a judgement.

Wonderful caring environment to spend his last few months. The staff are fabulous. The garden views are beautiful and the food was lovely. Very kind and considerate of family and resident in final hours. Did not sample the activities as too poorly and no idea for value for money as was funded. Two or three staff really went above and beyond and couldn't thank them more. My only request would be to ensure bed trays are cleaned a little more often used baby wipes to go over-otherwise very clean.

I have visited on a number of occasions and found nothing but excellent, caring and attentive staff.
They are always welcoming and my stepfather is extremely well taken care of.

As a qualified nurse of many years I am always on the look out for any concerns, yet no matter when I arrive I have always found excellent care. My stepfather has a poor appetite but the staff have tried their utmost to provide wonderful, nutritious food.

Entrance drive poorly maintained. Also shrubs have been neglected.
Very few staff at weekend.
Administrator and lifestyle coordinator were very kind and helpful.
Staff take a long time to respond to call bell. Because of her lack of sight, her food needs to be cut into bite-size pieces.

Pity the new greenhouse door isn't big enough to get a wheelchair in.

Daisy Job Title:Through the eyes of a child Programme Leader

Daisy is an 11-year-old community champion who has been visiting The Anchorage care home since she was a toddler. A few years ago, she created Through the Eyes of a Child, a heartfelt initiative designed to capture children’s honest reflections on their experiences of visiting the care home, helping staff and residents see the environment through a child’s perspective.

What began as a simple idea has grown into a meaningful programme that fosters intergenerational connections. Daisy encourages children from local schools to visit the home, building friendships with residents and taking part in activities, events, and outings. She has also developed feedback forms to ensure children’s voices are heard and valued.

Over the past year, Daisy’s compassion and dedication have been widely recognised. She has received a Champions of Care Special Recognition Award from Person Centred Software, the Community Cup from her school for her empathy and service, and the Saxon Weald Local Community Youth Winner Award for her outstanding contribution to the care home and wider community. She is also due to join the PDCCA Volunteer Friends Scheme in the New Year.

Now beginning to share Through the Eyes of a Child with other care homes across the group, Daisy continues to lead with kindness, empathy, and maturity beyond her years, proving that age is no barrier to making a meaningful difference.
