I always had a dim view of care homes in general, lots of old people sitting around in chairs staring at the walls ,staff that didn't really care, not very clean etc.
Boy was I wrong, the first time I visited my mum, I was so impressed. This is a very well run place, Clean, Warm, and the staff are
amazing, you can see real dedication in all of them. just looking around at the smiling faces of the residents I found very reassuring. The setting and the grounds are beautiful. My mum who was 96 and had dementia, had always maintained that she did not want to end her days in a care home, but she always looked happy when any of the family went to visit. I honestly think that being at weald hall gave her an extra few years.

Thank you Weald hall, for taking such good care of Connie, my mum.

Reply from Kate Wyatt, Group Community Engagement Manager at Weald Hall Care HomeThank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt words. We are truly touched by your review and by the trust you placed in us to care for your mum, Connie.
It means a great deal to know that your experience changed your perception of care homes and that you found Weald Hall to be a warm, clean, and caring environment. Our team works very hard to create a place where residents feel safe, valued, and happy, and your recognition of their dedication will mean the world to them.
Connie was a very special lady, and it was a privilege to care for her. Knowing that she appeared happy and settled here, and that her family felt reassured, is exactly what we strive for. Your belief that her time at Weald Hall gave her "an extra few years" is the highest compliment we could receive.
Thank you again for sharing your experience and for allowing us to be part of Connie's journey. She will always be remembered fondly here.

I was originally worried about my Grandad going into care but my parents reassured me it was a good thing. I had to agree after my first visit to see him. Weald Hall was very nice & the staff made me feel welcome. It's right next to the airfield so you get to watch the planes and we got to play pool
outside. Grandad's room was comfortable and homely and he was very happy there. Grandad has a cheeky sense of humour and I could see that the staff knew that & enjoyed his jokes. They are all very kind and caring. I really enjoyed meeting a reindeer at the home in December & that was a really fun family day. My brother and I have also really enjoyed Grandad being a social media star. Thank you for looking after him.
Reply from Kate Wyatt, Group Community Engagement Manager at Weald Hall Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. We're delighted to hear how reassured you felt after visiting Weald Hall and that your Grandad settled in so happily with us. It means a great deal to know that our team made you feel welcome and that they were able to connect with your Grandad's cheeky sense of humour, those moments of laughter are very special to us too.
We're so pleased you enjoyed the views of the airfield, playing pool outside, and taking part in our festive celebrations (the reindeer certainly brought some magic in December). Hearing that your family has enjoyed seeing your Grandad become a social media star made us smile.
Thank you for trusting us with his care and for your kind words about our team. It has been a pleasure to look after him and to welcome your family into our home. You know where we are if you ever need us.

I would like to thank all the staff at the care home for making the last three years of my mums life safe and happy, and when ever there was a problem with mum they always kept me informed. I know my mum and I know that she was very happy there. I would not hesitate to put a family member there again.

I don't usually write reviews. I've written fewer than ten in my life. When a company simply does what it's paid to do, I don't feel that alone warrants one.
However, when it comes to Weald Hall Care Home, just wow!
Our father had previously been in another care home where he didn't receive appropriate
care. He was placed on unnecessary medication, and despite assurances, the home was not suitable for someone with dementia. This caused ongoing stress and anxiety for our family.
Moving our father to Weald Hall was the best decision we could have made. Although we were anxious about the move, the team were exceptional. Our dad has made new friends, enjoys regular outings - including trips to the golf driving range - and is taking much better care of himself. He has also been safely weaned off unnecessary medication. Quite simply, it feels like we have our old dad back. Most importantly, he is genuinely happy. We know he is safe, well cared for, and supported by a team we trust completely
Reply from Kate Wyatt, Group Community Engagement Manager at Weald Hall Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share this incredibly thoughtful review. It truly means the world to us.

We're deeply touched by your kind words and by the trust you placed in us during what we know was an anxious and emotional time for your family. Supporting your father's wellbeing, dignity, and happiness is exactly why we do what we do, and hearing that he feels like "your old dad" again is the greatest compliment we could receive.

Our team will be so encouraged to know the difference they've made, from helping him settle in and build new friendships, to enjoying outings like the golf driving range, and ensuring his care and medication are truly right for him. Most of all, we're delighted that he feels happy, safe, and at home here.

Thank you again for your trust and for sharing your experience. It's a privilege to care for your father and to be part of your family's journey.

We took the decision to move my 88 year old Dad from hospital into the care of Weald Hall. Staff came to visit him in PAH & we just knew from that one meeting that we were doing the right thing. The home is described as a family and it truly is. The compassion care & respect shown to Dad has been outstanding.
The home is beautifully clean & he was so well looked after. He was fed lovely home cooked food - the morning porridge made with double cream was a real favourite. He was also taken out on trips & his individual needs were championed. The staff are all amazing and so supportive to us as Dads family. I turned up unannounced to the home during the crisis of seeking alternative arrangements for Dad & they just opened the door & welcomed me in. There was nothing to hide away and so much to see that was good. This really is the most amazing place and my children also enjoyed coming in to see their Grandad. I will forever be grateful to Weald Hall.

My father in law was not in a good place when we decided to move him into care last November. His transformation after 2 months has been amazing. He has been just so well cared for by an expert team in the home. Every staff member has been fantastic and the activities and food were also excellent.
His room was so comfortable and we felt very happy leaving him there. It is a very welcoming and warm environment that has helped him greatly.

Weald Hall is an amazing care home, truly special and standout. At the core is the shared enthusiasm, passion and dedication of every staff member I have come in to contact with. Whether that is the on site management, the care staff, cleaning staff or gardeners they all greet you with a smile and go
the extra mile to make Mums new home as perfect as it could be. They have been very proactive in supporting Mum to mobilise after an extended hospital stay with incredible results in just the first couple of days. Their approach is to find solutions not excuses and is refreshing in this day.
The home and grounds are spotless and fresh without feeling like a hotel but more like a home. The activities planned for Mum's first month look to be over and above what we have experienced anywhere else and are looking forward to seeing how Mum's confidence grows in this warm, welcoming and above all fun home. Thank you to all the staff, your care and dedication is seen and greatly appreciated.

Creating an environment that feels like a true home, not just a place to stay, is at the heart of everything we do. We are so pleased that the atmosphere, surroundings and activities programme have helped your Mum begin this new chapter with comfort, optimism and enjoyment.

Thank you again for your heartfelt appreciation. It is a privilege to care for your Mum, and we look forward to seeing her continue to flourish as part of the Weald Hall family.

My Dad moved into Weald Hall in Sept 25, and the transformation has been incredible. Before, he was confined to a dementia unit, but now he has the freedom to roam, engage with both residents and staff, participate in daily activities, and take an active interest in life once more. At first, I was concerned
about how he'd adjust to a new care home, but the staff were exceptional. They gently helped him settle in, drawing on their wealth of dementia knowledge to ensure he was always comfortable and well-cared for. The rooms are a great size, giving Dad plenty of space to feel at home, and the whole environment feels like a home rather than a care home. The staff-to-resident ratio is excellent, meaning there's always someone nearby. Weald Hall has truly brought new energy into Dad's life, taking him out to play golf and even to the local market. Since his move to Weald Hall, I've felt an immense sense of relief, finally able to relax after a challenging year.

Review from Val M (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 29 April 2025 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father in law moved into Weald Hall in Feb 25 and sadly died there in March 25. Although he was only there for 5 weeks the care was absolutely fantastic. All the staff are professional, warm, caring and compassionate. The facilities from the bedrooms to the communal areas are spotless and promote
service user interaction. We are so glad my father in law could spend his last few weeks here being cared for by these wonderful people. All the staff were wonderful to our family, it was like a home from home when we were there and they supported us throughout his stay and when he died. I will be forever grateful to them, thank you management and your amazing team x

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.929) out of 10 for Weald Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 53 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 53 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.929 for Weald Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (587 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 631 Ratings = 4.929
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Weald Hall Care Home is based on 53 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 53 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
