The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for Wealdhall Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Wealdhall Residential Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 3.719 for Wealdhall Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (16 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 3.719

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.641 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wealdhall Residential Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 7.8 positive Reviews (39 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 7.8 Target = 0.641

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I feel the home has improved so much over the past six months. The care they provide is amazing. Staff work so hard. My grandad is very happy since he has been at Wealdhall. Activities I think are brilliant. Management are very happy, I can go to them with any issue and will deal with it straight away.

My mother arrived here on placement in July, following three falls at home, which placed her in hospital.
She has dementia and couldn't go on living at home.
She had been here before on respite and enjoyed herself so I was pleased when a place became available for her here.
The staff are kind and caring and management are most approachable. I have the code to get in at any time.
Everyone works hard to look after all the residents and I would like to thank them for looking after Mum.

Having been to many residential homes on my first visit I found it was a friendly and homely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly. My mum has been in residence there now for a month she has settled well which is due to the care that has been provided. nothing is too much trouble. This was one of the worst decisions to make for any family to place your relative into a home but here the manager and staff also helped me with the adjustment. All I can say is these lovely people are worth their weight in gold .

Over the past 2 years mum has been a resident she has said how kind and caring all the staff have been toward her. With all dementia patients, mum's health declined and became bed ridden for the last seven months until she passed away on 21st July. Her last few hours and days the care and love shown by the staff was outstanding, also the love shown to her family while at her bedside. We thank them all.

There are not words to express how bad the service from this care home has turned out to be. On the day my wife was sworn at by a member of staff in their uniform in the car park, I contacted head office on an administrative matter. The general attitude was appalling. They ** spoke to me as if I was a 5-year-old, in the most condescending manner. When my question wasn't answered, I was told that 'my love, you don't understand'. When I pointed out that if it was explained properly, I would, I was told that I was being rude. When I expressed my displeasure at being treated like an idiot - I was told that if I didn't behave like one, it would be different. Her final words, before she put the telephone down on me were - 'call back when you're in a better mood'!

If your relative has dementia do not send them here. This care home claims to specialise in Dementia yet when a resident has a bad day due to their condition, which is common knowledge that they have good and bad days the resident is shipped off to a mental health unit and then told they are not allowed back here. Absolutely disgusting. Plus they are understaffed. And their latest CQC report shows they need improvement in all areas and the safety rating was inadequate. Says it all really. Plus the owner is too busy trying to sell his book to everyone and anyone rather then improve the home.

We were really worried when Mum couldn't look after herself anymore and hated the thought of her going into a home. She had told us she wanted to stay in her own home but this became impossible to sustain. Then after a long stay in hospital they found us Weald Hall and we couldn't be happier. Mum has improved so much since she went to live there, and is happy, content and well cared for. I couldn't praise the management and staff enough. They work so hard for their residents and yet make each day seem like fun. It can't be easy looking after so many elderly people with so many individual health issues but they manage it. I would recommend Weald Hall to anyone, keep up the good work and thank you.
