Having a registered childminder and foster parent in Suffolk for 13-years, I thought I could cook before I had 6-weeks of Wealdhall residency. I stand corrected. The food was outstanding. I put weight on. I arrived after five weeks on my back in the hospital. My ponytail totally matted, my legs very
week, with a DNR and a non-compos mentis
decision in my paperwork. Staff immediately saw this as fraudulent. Invited back after Covid as a volunteer, I must relate our experience while there. One resident past stage-3 dementia and on end of life care was fed by a member of staff, then the staff member brushed her hair back and touched foreheads together for several minutes. This was a member of staff pouring out unconditional love to a resident who frequently fights staff using a hoist, and if you let her hold your hand, she will either kiss your hand or severely bite you. She has her own teeth. Having fostered several abused children, this sight had me in tears.

Weald Hall is a homely, happy place for Mum to live. There is a friendly atmosphere. The lack of rigid rules means the care can be geared to each resident's personality and needs. I am greeted on arrival and Mum is welcomed back after we have been out. Mum is always telling me how lovely the staff are.

My grandad is the happiest he has been in a very long time. He is very well looked after. Staff are fantastic, so friendly and caring. Always have a warm welcome on entering the home. Thank you Wealdhall Residential Home.

My mum went into Wealdhall Residental Home in November 2017 quite suddenly. I have only ever experienced expert care and quality service from the staff and management at Wealdhall. Everyone is friendly; always has a cheeky smile and tells me what my Mum has been up to on every visit. I particularly
enjoy the regular contact on social media i.e. Facebook and my Mum is very settled and happy at Wealdhall. I feel so fortunate to have been able to secure my Mum a place here and regularly see the staff so above and beyond to keep my Mum, my family and I happy.

My father lived at Wealdhall for eleven months until he died in March 2018. The all-round care he received was excellent. I cannot fault the staff in any aspect. They all worked very hard to ensure he was happy, content and clean. His eating had improved and he had put on weight due to the well prepared
and nutritious food that is cooked at the home. After a week in hospital, he required end of life care which the home provided, allowing him to die with dignity. Whilst my father was living at Wealed Hall I know he was safe and secure and very well cared for. I would have no hesitation in recommending Wealdhall for anyone.

My mother arrived here on placement in July, following three falls at home, which placed her in hospital.
She has dementia and couldn't go on living at home.
She had been here before on respite and enjoyed herself so I was pleased when a place became available for her here.
The staff are kind and
caring and management are most approachable. I have the code to get in at any time.
Everyone works hard to look after all the residents and I would like to thank them for looking after Mum.

Having been to many residential homes on my first visit I found it was a friendly and homely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly. My mum has been in residence there now for a month she has settled well which is due to the care that has been provided. nothing is too much trouble. This was one
of the worst decisions to make for any family to place your relative into a home but here the manager and staff also helped me with the adjustment. All I can say is these lovely people are worth their weight in gold .

There are not words to express how bad the service from this care home has turned out to be. On the day my wife was sworn at by a member of staff in their uniform in the car park, I contacted head office on an administrative matter. The general attitude was appalling. They ** spoke to me as if I was
a 5-year-old, in the most condescending manner. When my question wasn't answered, I was told that 'my love, you don't understand'. When I pointed out that if it was explained properly, I would, I was told that I was being rude. When I expressed my displeasure at being treated like an idiot - I was told that if I didn't behave like one, it would be different. Her final words, before she put the telephone down on me were - 'call back when you're in a better mood'!

Over the past 2 years mum has been a resident she has said how kind and caring all the staff have been toward her. With all dementia patients, mum's health declined and became bed ridden for the last seven months until she passed away on 21st July. Her last few hours and days the care and love shown
by the staff was outstanding, also the love shown to her family while at her bedside. We thank them all.

If your relative has dementia do not send them here. This care home claims to specialise in Dementia yet when a resident has a bad day due to their condition, which is common knowledge that they have good and bad days the resident is shipped off to a mental health unit and then told they are not allowed
back here. Absolutely disgusting. Plus they are understaffed. And their latest CQC report shows they need improvement in all areas and the safety rating was inadequate. Says it all really. Plus the owner is too busy trying to sell his book to everyone and anyone rather then improve the home.

We were really worried when Mum couldn't look after herself anymore and hated the thought of her going into a home. She had told us she wanted to stay in her own home but this became impossible to sustain. Then after a long stay in hospital they found us Weald Hall and we couldn't be happier. Mum has
improved so much since she went to live there, and is happy, content and well cared for. I couldn't praise the management and staff enough. They work so hard for their residents and yet make each day seem like fun. It can't be easy looking after so many elderly people with so many individual health issues but they manage it. I would recommend Weald Hall to anyone, keep up the good work and thank you.

She is currently studying for her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.

Fiona has over 30 years of experience working within the healthcare sector and is a Registered Nurse, remaining active on the NMC register. Her management career started as a charge nurse and then as a ward manager within the NHS, working in wards specialising in care for older adults enduring mental health conditions and dementia.


For the last 15 years, Fiona has worked in the Care Home Sector, taking on various Management roles, including Registered Manager, Regional Support Manager, Clinical and Quality Manager, Compliance Consultant and Operations Manager.
