The Secret Garden Day Care Hub is a warm and friendly place with a kind and dedicated staff. My husband was made so welcome and enjoyed his days at the Hub. He was treated with respect and dignity by a caring staff and enjoyed all the various activities they arranged. The facilities were excellent in every way and in a lovely environment. As a carer I felt very supported too and the staff were always available to help or talk through any issues. I felt welcome to stay for tea/coffee and be part of the community

I will start with two quotations, one from my husband who attends Secret Garden, "It is the place where I feel the safest" and one from our grandson on pick-up, "I have never seen Poppa so happy." This is a testament to the caring staff, who recognise the individuality of each person, each being treated with dignity. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a sense of fun, a diverse range of activities and a "jolly good lunch!"

we would like to say a heartfelt thankyou to all the staff at the day centre for the kindness, compassion, and dedication you show him every wednesday. The care and support you provide to my father n law has been exceptional, and it gives our family peace of mind to see a smile on John's face. Here's to many more wednesdays at the day centre. I cannot recommend the Secret Garden enough! They were so lovely with my mum, wish I had found them earlier! A big thank you to all the staff.

Thank you for taking such great care of my sister-in-law by allowing her into the Secret Garden whilst she had her respite care with a care home for 3 weeks. We could go on holiday knowing she was going to have fun, fab, cheery company and lots of activities and be safe. The building and garden are just perfect as she loves being outdoors and is game for any quiz and activity. Thank you always for enchaing her already great zest for life despite her disabilities.

Review of Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home from Jane R (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mum became a resident at Bay tree in Autumn 2023. As a family we had experienced other care homes for respite care. Bay tree was by far the best. We liked Bay tree as it felt less clinical than some and was very homely and friendly. We found the staff friendly, warm, knowledgeable and kind. They took time to build up a strong bond with Mum and displayed so much patience. Mum enjoyed the activities led by the amazing activity co-ordinators, especially the music and was encouraged to take part and be with her fellow residents. Mums room was very homely and we were able to add her own personal items to make her feel as comfortable as possible. The food is very good, always a choice, home cooked with three courses. Families visiting are always made to feel welcome and we felt part of the Bay tree family which in turn was beneficial for Mum.

Mum passed in March this year in her room at Bay tree. Fiona, the manager was outstanding in her kindness and compassion as were the staff. Thank you.

Reply from Fiona Gillon, Home Manager at Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home

Hello Jane, thank you so much for this lovely review, it has made my day! It was an absolute pleasure to support your Mum and your whole family through the last few years, and I hope that we have helped leave you with some fond memories of the time that your Mum spent here as part of our Baytree family. Take care, Fiona

My Dad was a resident for 8 months and during that time I couldn't fault the care & attention he received. All of the staff, without exception were so kind & attentive to my Dad & also to our family. When my Dad unfortunately passed away in January 2026, he was treated with such respect & professionalism. I knew that I wanted to return to Baytree & feel priveleged to now have become a volunteer at this very special place.

Review of St Faith's Nursing & Residential Home from Paul J (Son of Resident) published on 20 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

We had a very good experience at St Faith's. Unfortunately my mother was only there for 2 weeks before passing. It was a lovely, spacious, light and airy from for visitors and family. We were offered the option to stay over if we needed. Parking, although tight was fine with the option for parking for up to 6 years on the road outside. The food was good and the only thing I could mention was that our request for soft food like yogurt and custard was slow to get through.

Review of Royal Court Care Home from Frederick H (Nephew of Resident) published on 8 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Royal Court has wonderfully caring and empathetic staff for whom nothing seems too much trouble. Following her arrival at the beginning of 2025, my aunt quickly felt settled, and, although she cannot now communicate, she appears contented and comfortable. The quality of food is good, and the spacious accommodation is for the most part kept clean and fresh. I have found the management to be proactive in communicating with me if ever there is a decision to be taken about my aunt's medical or dental treatment. All in all, I believe Royal Court to be well managed and I would not want my aunt to be anywhere else.

My initial experience with the Secret Garden has been very positive. Nobody that I have met this far has been anything less than polite, respectful, helpful and professional. My only quibble is with access, security is very important but waiting outside in the rain is not fun.

Our elderly mother was only a resident at St Faiths for seven weeks before she died yesterday. However, during that time we greatly appreciated the courtesy, kindness and professionalism of the staff. This was especially the case in our mother's final days and hours. We cannot thank you enough. The home itself is delightful, very clean and well organised and with a convenient car park.

Review of Royal Court Care Home from Frank C (Husband of Resident) published on 13 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife was at Royal Court from Sept'25 to Jan'26. Our experience was distressing and unacceptable. There were safeguarding failures with 2 assaults by another resident, and no effective action taken to prevent the 2nd. There were repeated failures in basic standards of care. Clothing and belongings went missing, leaving my wife improperly dressed. Housekeeping was often poor and maintenance issues not resolved. Personal care was neglected, with diet, medical, grooming and foot care issues. Communication was particularly difficult for a dementia resident. Many staff, especially Agency workers, didn't converse clearly in English. Overall, we experienced poor management, inadequate safeguarding, and a lack of professionalism. My wife has moved to a care home where standards are vastly better. I've rated 2-Stars because of mitigating points. Despite pressures, most staff were very kind, and the CEO also acknowledged the seriousness of my complaint with a significant refund of fees paid.

Reply from Kevin Snowball, Chief Executive at Royal Court Care Home
We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with some aspects of our care.

I have been visiting my mother for almost a year before writing this review because I wanted to be sure that the warm welcome she received on arrival could be sustained. I'm delighted to see that from top to bottom, every single member of staff has worked tirelessly to help Mum settle. We have seen physical improvements in her dementia symptoms from the 5-star care, socialisation and good food served regularly. We are greatly relieved to have chosen Lilian Faithfull House for Mum's palliative care and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the charity and its staff.

Staff work hard with care, humour and many individual acts of kindness to make our aunt and her elderly sister (who visits frequently) feel welcome and at home. Our aunt has enjoyed the regular afternoon movies with coffee, the support to access religious services, physio support such as being taken for walks in the fresh air and so on... The medical reassurance and responsiveness of the team has been much appreciated. It also helps that she has a lovely view from her room, which she finds relaxing and an ongoing source of pleasure. Thanks to all.!
