  • Care Homes Owned by Lilian Faithfull Care Charity
Lilian Faithfull Care is a charity with 77 years' experience of providing care, support and a ‘home for life’ for people in Gloucestershire. Caring for residents across six care homes and an adult day hub in Cheltenham and Stroud.

They provide care for a wide range of needs; day care, respite, independent and assisted living, residential and nursing care. Along with specialist knowledge of dementia care and end of life care.

Residents are cared for by 400 staff and live comfortably in beautifully furbished rooms surrounded by their belongings, the companionship of other residents and daily activities, contact with the local community, and fresh homemade food and refreshments to enjoy.

It is the attention to detail and involvement of all their staff which creates a community which not only looks after people’s care and well-being but is a place people can call home.

As a charity, you can trust that they are in care for the right reasons - not for profit. With 97p in every £1 spent towards the day-to-day care of their residents – and all that entails. The charity financially supports around 73 residents and subsidise resident’s fees to the amount of £1.55 million a year. This equates to around £21,200 per resident per annum.

Through this subsidy and their ‘home for life’ pledge, they will never ask a resident to leave their group for financial reasons.

Established in Cheltenham in 1946 by founder Lilian Faithfull, they remain true to the founding principles of the charity; a desire to improve the lives of others through care and dedication.

Older generations have helped form the current way of life and given so much to society as it now stands. Lilian Faithfull Care are proud to care for these remarkable people and enable them to live with independence, dignity and respect.

My mother arrived in Royal Court with her husband as respite care in the autumn of 2021. Although COVID restrictions were still in place, I was happy with what I saw of the spacious accommodation and care. We have experienced a few changes in staff and management, but overall, I am very happy with the
care my mother is receiving. This is especially true now that she has moved into the Dragonfly Unit, where she is just settling in with a closer, more intimate care setting.

My mum is so happy at Faithful House. She loves the company of all the other residents and carers. She's fully involved in all of the activities and especially loves the trips out most weeks, the singing and dancing and cooking. I just can't believe the positive change there's been in Mum's outlook
since moving in. Feeling safe, cared for and loved has been so important for Mum's mental well being. Thank you so much to everyone at Faithful House. You are an amazing team.

Very helpful and friendly activities and programme not as interesting and creative as they used to be. Probably due to staff retirement. Meals are much appreciate but not as good as they were 12 months ago. I imagine this is due to reduced budget.

My mother has been in Faithfull House for 15 months. She was reluctant to go into a care home but quickly settled, and there is no doubt that her quality of life has much improved. She constantly says how marvellous the staff are; they are all very patient with her. She regards them as her friends and
refers to the other residents as her family. Her personal care is excellent, and any medical issues are dealt with quickly. She recently celebrated her 96th birthday, and we were able to have a family gathering in the conservatory.

Thank you so much for your review. We're truly delighted to hear how well your mother has settled at Faithfull House and that she feels so at home here.It means a great deal to our team to know that she sees the staff as friends and the other residents as family - that sense of belonging and community is exactly what we aim to create. Celebrating her 96th birthday with a family gathering in the conservatory was a very special occasion, and we're so glad we could help make that possible, It was lovely to see that so many family members were able to join and help a very special lady celebrate.

Whilst my sister was only with the home for a short time, the care she received was exemplary, all the staff were professional, friendly and ready to talk and explain anything I wanted to know. SECRET GARDEN DAY CARE HUB - part of Lilian Faithfull House
My mother-in-law absolutely loves it here! The staff are friendly and always put the guests at ease, they are treated with dignity and understanding. After a tough few years, this wonderful place has been a new lease of life for her.
She
has made new friends and always comes bouncing out at the end of the day with a huge smile, talking about the fun things she has been doing - one of her favourite activities is when they have a singer visit who plays all the old songs, and everyone gets on the dancefloor. No one is shy, and the staff make sure everyone is included. The staff are wonderful - big shout out to a particular member of staff, who does a fantastic job running the centre and took extra time to reassure us when we were both nervous at the start !
There is always a fun atmosphere at the Secret Garden. As soon as I collect her, she is then on a countdown until the next time she can go. THANKYOU SO MUCH keep up the good work!

Thank you for taking the time to submit this review so soon after your father moved in. It is just over a month now and it is great to see how well you father is settling in, making new friends both in the home and in the community at the local church. I am particularly grateful for the day that your father led a prayer and praise morning when our usual minister was not able to make it in, he was so thrilled to be able to help.

My wife and I really can't thank the management and staff at Bay Tree Court, in Cheltenham, enough for the care that they provided to our father in the last four months of his life. It's very clear from the way in which they interact with both the residents and their relatives that for the staff at
Bay Tree Court, working there is much more than an ordinary job.Their deeply caring attitude is not only shown by the management and the main carers - it also extends to everyone there, such as the kitchen, maintenance and the cleaning staff. We commend their dedication and kindness in a career that many people would find very difficult indeed. The atmosphere at Bay Tree is one of warmth and peace, and the people there take a lot of trouble to look after residents' relatives too, in what is often a very difficult time for everyone in the family. When we visited Bay Tree, we really felt that we were visiting friends.
Reply from Fiona Gillon, Manager at Bay Tree Court Residential Care Home

Hello Alex, thank you so much for your kind words, I have to say it brought a tear to my eye. We strive to care for everyone, not just the resident and I am so pleased that this was your experience. It was a pleasure and an honour to care for your father even though for just a short time, he was such an intrepid and adventurous chap, and a true gentleman, we will miss him.

From our first meeting with the staff, through to Dad's arrival, when a member of staff stayed extra late to ensure he could be admitted on discharge from hospital, everyone at Bay Tree has been so kind and supportive.
There is a lovely caring atmosphere, which extends to taking care of the family
too. Nothing has been too much trouble and everyone from the cleaning team to the carers and nursing staff to the management, have been welcoming and helpful. The catering staff went the extra mile to make food to tempt Dad, since he didn't really have an appetite, and staff took the trouble to find out about him and his interests and to try and draw him out when he was experiencing deep grief and shock after the death of our mother. The fact that Bay Tree is run by a charity, not a business, really seems to flow into all aspects of their approach. They have felt like a family, and now that Dad has sadly passed away, we will miss them!

The staff are excellent at Royal Court however I am concerned that several really good members of staff from one particular unit in the home have left since new management took over. Also others have left in different areas and have been moved around so this is an unstabling factors for residents. Please
