View Full Details of Charrington Manor Care HomeMy father is very well looked after and the Staff are very kind and patient with him. The home also provides a happy and friendly environment for my mother who visits my father each day which has made the loss of not having him at home much easier.
My 93 year old mother has been a resident at Charrington Manor for just over three years. Over that time, the wonderfully caring staff in her "team", whilst giving her the additional daily care she now needs, have continued to allow her as much dignity and independence as possible. They have encouraged her to use the cycles on a daily basis, and building her leg strength has meant a decreased use of medication. The atmosphere of the home is buzzy, warm and friendly. The staff know me by name, and are always approachable. I couldn't ask for a better home for my mother with staff I trust 100 per cent. What a wonderful place!
Mum moved into Charrington Manor with advanced dementia two years ago. From day one, the care she received was nothing short of first-rate, every aspect handled with professionalism, compassion, and dignity, so when Dad's health declined earlier this year, we had absolutely no hesitation in choosing Charrington Manor again. The kindness and respect shown to both Mum and Dad by the entire team has been extraordinary. It has meant the world to us, especially during the most difficult time when we had to say goodbye to Mum recently. The atmosphere they create: warm, welcoming, and full of life. Every day is filled with activities that keep residents engaged and happy. The smiles on both residents' and staff members' faces speak louder than any words. We have nothing but praise for Charrington Manor. Not once have we regretted our decision; we know Mum and Dad are (were) in the very best hands. A huge thank you to everyone at Charrington Manor.
Mum has been at Charrington Manor for 10 months and is very happy . She chose to move to residential care following a fall at home, but until that point had been living on her own and was still driving. She has a ground floor room with access to the garden on the 'independent living floor'. She has as much help as she wants but is encouraged to be independent as possible. She takes herself out for walks in the garden everyday to keep fit. She regularly comments on how lovely, kind and responsive the staff are and says it feels like an extended family. There are daily exercise classes and most days there are creative activities or professional musicians to entertain. I live just 5 minutes away and I am welcome to drop in at absolutely any time. The house and garden are kept beautifully and she loves the food. Mum went to Charrington Manor for practical help and support, but has also found company and entertainment and fun.
My father has been a resident since end May 2025. He is very comfortable and content in Charrington Manor and says that all the staff are extremely helpful and cannot be faulted. He is always treated with dignity and respect. Dad's physical and mental wellbeing have improved hugely since he moved in, he enjoys his meals and the care he receives is excellent The Manager, Simona, and all her staff have been kind and patient with any queries or needs. We cannot recommnd the home highly enough.
Our experience with the care our mum has received at Charrington Manor has been great! She has been treated with kindness, dignity and respect at all times and is now very settled. The home is full of smiles and has a lovely atmosphere.
Just a quick note to say how refreshing it is to have staff who care, look out for my mum and are helping to give her a better quality of life being a registered as Blind person The one on one support and comfort my mother gets when she needs help is comforting to me Charrington give a Five star service and respond to any issues very quickly Highly recommend
My mother has been a resident in the Downton community for 17-months now. She is living with advanced dementia but aware that she is in a residential home. Since moving to Charrington Manor she has become progressively more comfortable with her situation, and now frequently tells me how happy she is to be there. That is largely due to the reassurance provided, and kindness offered by the care team. My mother tends not to take advantage of the many entertainments and activities, but on her recent birthday the wellness team managed to encourage her to come to watch that day's entertainment. They made her feel very special with cake, bubbles, gifts and a rendition of "Happy Birthday". She really enjoyed it. I'm satisfied that my mother is in the happiest and most comfortable home at this stage of her life.
My friend has been living at Charrington Manor for just over 12 months, and I can not fault the service. From the the care staff, who are absolutely brilliant to the cleaners, the kitchen staff to the girls on reception. Nothing is too much trouble, and everyone is so helpful. You can feel the love and support from everyone when you enter the building. The entertainment every day and weekly outing, the exercise classes, aimed at all capabilities, everyone is catered for. This is an outstanding home and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
My dad moved to Charrington Manor in August from another care home and we are very happy with the lovely environment and the standard of care. Dad has advanced mixed dementia and was initially quite confused by the move - but he now seems to be thriving. The staff are very kind, professional and attentive, and environment is just lovely - it's very comfortable, spotlessly clean and there are lots of different areas and lounges to spend time in. The staff also really listen to feedback and engage with the family to ensure the highest standard of care. We are very happy that we moved our dad to Charrington. It's hugely reassuring to know that he's being looked after so well. Thank you to everyone!
My mother has been a resident at Charrington Manor since January 2025 and I am very pleased with both the care she receives and the support offered to myself. The staff are kind, caring and attentive. The home is well run with a variety of daily activities and the atmosphere is friendly. Thank you!
The staff are patient and very caring. My mother enjoyed the entertainment and the hot chocolate machine. She liked her bedroom and that it was cleaned every day. Staff made great efforts to make her feel special on her birthday. Everyone was very cheerful and welcoming. I would recommend this home to everyone.
My wife became a resident of Charrington Manor 18 months ago due to the escalation of her dementia which meant she could no longer be cared for in the right manner at home. From the outset she has been completely happy living at Charrington Manor and has nothing but compliments for the team as do I. She is kept animated through a variety of daily activities in house and on regular outings to local garden centres, shopping centres etc. Her appearance and personal care is very important to the team and she enjoys her regular manicures and hair styling. The quality of the food is always varied and delicious and they manage to find an excuse to serve tasty cakes and biscuits to the residents and their visitors on a daily basis with the addition of a cheeky Irish cream liqueur or sherry on a Sunday. She has never once complained about any aspect of her care and neither have I found any reason either. I too have been warmly welcomed into the Charrington Manor family and always enjoy my visits.
I can't speak highly enough of Charrington Manor. From the moment we first visited, we felt a genuine sense of warmth and compassion from the entire team. The staff are incredibly caring, patient, and supportive - they go above and beyond to ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and loved. What really sets this home apart is the amazing timetable of activities. There's always something engaging and meaningful happening, from creative sessions and music to gardening, gentle exercise classes, and themed events. The team puts a lot of thought into tailoring activities to the interests and needs of the residents, and it makes such a positive difference in their daily lives. We're so grateful to have found this special place.
My mum has been at Charrington Manor 7 months now, and has settled in very well. She is mobile, active, but no longer drives and can be a bit forgetful. The team at Charrington have really got to know here well and helped her adjust to her new life. She was living with my dad, who is no longer with us, until very recently, so moving from your own home with your own garden, into a care home was a big step. She particularly enjoys the social programme, which is extremely active and inclusive. Various different activities and entertainers , which she mostly enjoys. She also get to do the gardening whiz she has enjoyed all of her life. If we ever have an issue (which are minor) the team at Charrington are extremely responsive and help immediately. I am kept very well informed even when I away. With the daily posts, I know more about what my mum is unto than I ever did. Thank you to the team at Charrington Manor, I thoroughly recommend you to anyone
I have always found the home to be welcoming, warm and a happy place to be with staff who are concerned and clearly hard working. It has great atmosphere and there always seem to be Activities that are inclusive and entertaining. I always look forward to my visits to Charington Manor.
We visit my father several times a week and we are always so grateful at how happy and settled my father is. The staff are excellent and all who care for him know and understand his needs very well. The activities and entertainment are really enjoyable and appropriate for all the residents. Charrington Manor has such a positive, caring atmosphere and we really do feel so blessed that my father lives there.
My mother has lived at Charrington Manor since 2022. I explored many care homes before choosing Charrington Manor and cannot speak highly enough of the care and support Mum receives within this loving & homely environment. The staff who I have come to know through their care and attention to Mum are exceptional, including the leadership of the home. I have witnessed joy, thoughtfulness, kindness, gentleness and dedication within their working days. Supporting and caring for vulnerable people demands a high level of practical skills and emotional intelligence; it is challenging on many levels and yet the Home Makers are always calm and smiling when they engage with any of the residents. Adherence to dignity and choice is key. The range of activities is extraordinary, inclusive of weekly outings. Mum loves the gardens and balcony. One of Mum's friends who visits other care homes, recognises Charrington Manor as the best and would be happy to move there themselves if the time comes.
My Dad has happily been a resident at Charringtons for over two years. He receives excellent care from all the staff who show him such kindness and thoughtfulness be it helping him with his personal care, popping in for a chat and a welcome cup of tea to ensuring his medical needs are administered appropriately. As a visitor I am always greeted warmly by all staff and they are quick to keep me informed of any issues relating to Dad. The support doesn't stop with Dad, during a particularly difficult family time the staff have been so supportive of both me and my sister - I can't thank them enough for this. The facilities, the entertainment and the visits are excellent, Dad was even encouraged to set up and manage a library in the Quiet Room - something that interested him greatly. I can't recommend Charringtons enough and hope that Dad continues to live a very happy life in such a wonderful home.
This is a wonderful care home with very attentive staff and daily activities that keep everyone engaged and stimulated. Superb facilities and regular outings for those who are keen to explore local attractions.
