What a lovely, welcoming home Charlton Lodge is. From the moment we made contact, nothing was too much trouble. The whole process was efficient and the staff answered all our questions making us feel totally at ease and we just knew that we had made the right choice.
Since moving mum in we have
enjoyed visiting, taking her to the cafe for tea and biscuits with even the great grandchildren coming and wanting to visit again because they felt so comfortable.
Mum is always invited to a variety of activities even though she has alzheimers. She may not choose to take part, but she is always included.
I have nothing negative to say. A lovely home with spacious beautifully decorated rooms throughout, attentive friendly staff, great food and a contented daughter, knowing her mother is being cared for with the utmost respect.
Just need the weather to warm up so that we can go out into the lovely gardens.

Fantastic warm friendly environment is the first thing that strikes you when visiting Charlton Lodge.
All the staff I have met have an upbeat approach and the sort of work ethic that can only be commended where nothing is too much trouble.
I have seen first hand how engaging they all are with
all their residents, seamlessly conversing whilst they go about their daily duties in what is no doubt a very testing occupation with a great deal of responsibility.
There is an ethic of inclusion for all ,in the numerous variety of activities they host for all their residents.
Personally my father has a new lease of life and is embracing the vast majority of the varied activities that they meticulously plan , instigate and manage . He seems to particularly like the field trips which are varied and stimulating for him.
I would go as far as to say in my fathers case it is easy to see that the level of stimulation is having the affect of stemming the rate of decline with his illness.

We visit our friend once a week, and have found, without exception all the staff to be caring, friendly and loving. All the rooms we have see in the home are spacious and beautifully presented. Visitors are made very welcome with excellent facilities for making complementary drinks with a lovely
range of pastries. As well as using the more public areas, there is a lovely smaller room where we can chat and play music. Charlton Lodge is a beautiful place and the staff are wonderful. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Wonderful place to be. On entering the home all staff greet you with a lovely smile and welcome. The home is excellent in every way. Nothing is too much trouble when we are visiting if we need to know anything somebody is always there willing to help. Overall couldn't wish for a better place to be
in and well looked after, residents and visitors.

Having spent 2 months recovering in Charlton Lodge, I came home feeling so well, this is down to the care & commitment of the wonderful staff. I enjoyed the morning activities especially the daily crosswords. Having the cafe on site made it homely when having visitors, I also made good use of the
activity room doing some painting and jigsaws. Highly recommended.

Dad moved in in November and we couldn't be happier with the care he receives. The carers and management are all so friendly, supportive and kind. Any issues are always quickly sorted, without any fuss. The care home always smells lovely and has a cheerful feel to it.
The food always looks
delicious and appetising and the cakes in the cafe are wonderful. It's lovely to be able to sit in there with dad and have a coffee and catch up.
The activities are varied and interesting - from falconry talks, to exercise classes, there's something for everyone. There had been some instances of activities being cancelled last minute, but this was often outside of CL's control. With the addition of the new activity coordinators this year, I have no doubt the programme of events will be well thought out and executed.

I can highly recommend this home, due to my fathers medical condition 2 days prior to Christmas I had to place him into urgent respite care which has now evolved into permanent care. Mark and his staff helped every step of the way during these difficult times and always giving us options on how best
to provide the necessary care my father needed. The staff in the home went over and above any expectation I had in caring for my father who at the time was in a lot of discomfort and needed constant reviewing of his pain relief.
On the day of admission I had spent all at the hospital awaiting for x-rays and doctors consultations and never knew at what time we would be allowed to leave or whether my father would be admitted to hospital. None of this was a problem with the home as they stated they offer 24 hour care and admissions as required.
I can only describe the home as a hotel that provides that provides the necessary care needed that are required.

I have been very impressed with the friendliness, professionalism and standard of all the staff I have encountered when visiting my mother. Charlton Lodge has the look and feel of a homely hotel with a lively hum of activity yet is not too busy or noisy. I have experienced for myself lunch in the
dining room both for the friendly service and tasty food. My mother is thereby motivated to eat well and to socialise - it is so good for her. I am reassured that my mother is getting the care she needs and is part of a caring community. Please keep doing what you are doing!

I am so pleased we made the decision for Mum to have some respite care at Charlton Lodge. The care is excellent; I think the staff look after Mum as if she were family. They are kind and gentle, their care is tender and respectful. The Lodge itself has amazing facilities. Mum's favourite is the bath
with jacuzzi bubbles, she loves it when the lights are turned down and she can relax under the twinkling stars. The home is immaculate, clean and tidy but also homely and comfortable.
Medical care here is a high priority. Mum's medical needs have changed several times during her visit, her team leader is brilliant at keeping me informed and up to date at all times. He has also explained change in medication which has been very helpful and reassuring. I have the utmost confidence in their skills in looking after the elderly.
Family and friends are made to feel very welcome when visiting. Mum loves it so much I don't think she wants to go home!

Needed respite and chose this place as it felt very homely and I was correct as mum would like to return! Many of her friends and family visited and everyone said what a lovely, friendly, clean, warm environment it was. There are many activities going on if wanted but very relaxing if not. Meals
excellent too and the cafe is a great place to have a drink/snack with family and friends! All the staff are wonderful.

Charlton Lodge is the most wonderful care home - my father in law has been here for a year now and it's transformed all our lives knowing his personal care and his pastoral care is so supremely excellent . It strikes the right balance being both a relaxed and happy home from home surrounded by a
professional caring team who really do care . I couldn't recommend Charlton Lodge enough. Oh and the lunches are great too ! Richard

We needed to find an urgent placement for mum who has dementia, following a fall and care at home that wasn't sustainable. The team went over and above to move my mum in within 3 days. Since then the care has been excellent and my mum has settled in well. The staff have taken the time to get to know
my mum in order to tailor her care and her likes and dislikes. The facilities and food are excellent as are the activities. It's a pleasure to visit her there knowing that she is in the best hands.

My mum stayed at Charlton Lodge for 12 nights while my husband & I went on holiday. Staff wre very welcoming & friendly. The home was very clean with good facilities and activities on offer. My mum seemed to enjoy her trip out for lunch and even had her hair done. Her visitors told me how well she
looked while she stayed. She liked the food. I'd be very happy for her to go again.

Fabulous staff, lovely environment, a caring and warm place for all. My grandfather can often be confused and become slightly dis regulated and the staff are fantastic at making him feel safe and at home. We are always met with friendly smiles and when you walk into the home, it is clean and
orderly.

Warm, attentive staff and a clean, welcoming environment. Always leave feeling assured that loved one is here-safe, and well cared for. Feels like a safe place that treats its residents with care and dignity.

10 weeks ago my wife, who had been diagnosed with dementia, contacted Sepsis and after 14 days in hospital was discharged. However during that period she deteriorated both physically and mentally. Three weeks after she returned home, I was rushed into hospital to have my gallbladder removed,
therefore I could no longer be my wife's carer. Our daughter tried to find respite care, which proved difficult but while looking a leaflet for Charlton Lodge came through the letterbox. Within 2 hours had secured a place for my wife and she had a safe place to go while I recovered. Since then my wife has been extremely well looked after at Charlton Lodge and she has settled in and they are doing far more for her than I ever could. I am at peace, she is safe and loved by very caring staff. Because of her physical and mental difficulties, it's looking like her stay may be permanent and I will have no qualms in making Charlton Lodge her place of residence. She will be safe and well looked after.

Everyone is so friendly & helpful whenever I visit my Grandad! I love to keep up to date with what he's up to on the social media page too. He seems settled and always has news to tell us from the week of fun activities :)

My wife entered the Care home after a long period at home with dementia related issues with taking medication, diet and hygiene. These issues were dealt with in the first few weeks in Charlton Lodge.
Staff quickly recognised my wife's interests & used this knowledge to help her & open discussions.
The room is spacious with easy access to the en-suite toilet/wash facilities and has a decent view from the window which provides some interest when the pupils are going to and from school (e.g. schools opposite & my wife was a teacher).
One minor criticism is that the 'app.' does not fully work on my laptop - although I can see photos I cannot read comments - probably my fault for not having a 'smart' phone!
